Ferrari set to unveil new car, possibly 488 replacement

Ferrari will be taking the wraps off a new car ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the company having released a teaser video yesterday on social media and stating that the Prancing Horse family will effectively be welcoming a new member today.

The short video doesn’t give much away, but it’s widely rumoured that the new vehicle will be the replacement for the 488 GTB. although its exact powertrain configuration remains unknown. Over the past few months, 488 mules have been spied testing what should be a hybrid powertrain, which was said to be scheduled for introduction in a mid-engined V8 hybrid supercar later this year.

Recently, it was reported that the new hybrid would not be unveiled in Geneva, but instead make its debut later this year at a specific event, although there is now the possibility that the hybrid model, which will develop more power than the 488 Pista and sit atop the automaker’s sports car range, may be appearing sooner.

There’s also talk that the 488 replacement won’t come in a singular form, but through a number of different models, ranging from the aforementioned V8 hybrid to a V8 twin-turbo model and a 488 successor with a V6 hybrid powertrain.

The introduction of more than one hybrid powertrain would fall in line with the automaker’s aspirations for the tech down the road. Company CEO Louis Camilleri said recently that Ferrari is aiming for 60% of its product portfolio to have hybrid variants by 2022, with a full-electric vehicle to be launched after 2022. More details on the new horse, soon.

Even legendary car maker switch from petrol to hybrid and lastly to full electric. All will happen another 3 years time for fully electric by Ferrari which is 2022 onward. That’s good choice
