The T32 Nissan X-Trail facelift range has finally made its public appearance here ahead of the launch next month, with all four variants being displayed at the Nissan showroom in Glenmarie earlier today. Order books are already open, with prices starting from RM140k for the entry-level 2.0L 2WD to RM170k for the top 2.0L Hybrid.
UPDATE: The just-announced “tentative official prices” for the X-Trail facelift are lower than the estimates: RM133,888 for the 2.0L 2WD, RM145,888 for the 2.0L 2WD Mid, RM153,888 for the 2.5L 4WD and RM159,888 for the Hybrid, OTR without insurance.
Now, as facelifts go, the updated X-Trail brings quite a number of changes to the table, starting with the redesigned LED headlights (2.0L 2WD gets halogen reflectors), new front bumper with rectangular fog lamps, bolder V-Motion grille, 17-inch alloys, shark fin antenna and smoked LED combination tail lamps. The top three models also get motion-sensing powered tailgate.
Powertrain options are the same as before, except that the new range-topping hybrid gets an electrified version of the MR20DD 2.0 litre petrol engine. Here, propulsion is assisted by an electric motor – it makes 41 PS and 160 Nm of torque – that draws juice from a 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that’s mounted under the boot floor. This necessitates the removal of the third row seats, effectively making it a five-seater SUV. The rest still feature the 5+2 seating configuration.
Safety has also been updated, with the top three models getting six airbags as standard, while the base variant gets four. Also included is Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility driver assist systems, comprising features like Forward Collision Warning, AEB, Lane Departure Warning, and more. Watch the video above and let us know what you think of the new X-Trail!

(Like) Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV
(Dislike) Nissan X-Trail
Surely, everyone will get Proton X70, Toyota RAV4 or Mazda CX-5 instead of New Facelift Nissan X-Trail because everyone knows that XTronic CVT have too much issues including other Nissan models in which it will cost RM18K to replace Xtronic CVT. So don’t expect it is cheap.
I am using Nissan and no problems with CVT. My company also uses Nissan as their company cars and not one of the 20 company cars have problems with the CVT.
In the kampungs and the grassroots, including all the bandar folks, everybody just want 7 seater. So, they go for Aruz, X-Trail or Outback. Just these 3 cars.
I ask so many people they say, “if spending this much, might as well buy a 7 seater”
Proton X70 is not even an option
Copy paste: “Anak kau ramai, baik kau target 65 seater bus? Ada kerusi duduk 65 orang.
The quality is 13x better than a 5 seater X70 according to our resident clown”
Copy paste: “First impression, the engine bay is a mess. It makes the car looks cheap and makes it feels cheap but in truth the price is not cheap!
2nd impression, the 3rd row seats are practically useless with ZERO (I say again, ZERO!) room for the legs. What’s the point in having 3rd bench seats with no leg space? And where are the aircon vents for the 3rd row?
3rd impression, the HU felt like something from the 90’s. Is this another Tan Chong own TCAT rebranding of an ancient HU? It makes the car look cheap!
4th impression, all-black leather without any contrast panels? Really? Makes it looks cheap! Come on! The price isn’t!
5th impression, the added safety features is good but… 4 airbags for base spec model? Would it really kill them to standardise 6 for all variants? At RM140k, this isn’t a cheap car but it feels cheap!
6th impression, actually more like a question. Is the hybrid battery taking up the wheel well space or is it located somewhere else and there’s a spare wheel inside?
Overall impression, it is a step up to the old car but for its price it screams CHEAP! CHEAP! CHEAP! The competition has moved 2 steps ahead but ETCM Nissan only advanced 1 step.”
Outstanding game changer from Nissan! Rest X70 in peace. Habisla Proton!
Don’t worry when Proton X50 including other Proton Models and X70 is best selling model. Habisla All Nissan Models. As no one ever buys Nissan Models including New Facelift Nissan Xtrail as Xtronic CVT got too much problematic and very extremely unreliable. Moreover, New Facelift Nissan Xtrail looks outdated, stale and boring design for inside and outside. Especially for New Facelift Nissan Xtrail is having outdated Technology and outdated Dashboard.
When Proton sales report comes out then it’s a “Game Over” for you….
another fake news. Nissan sales is doing so well Globally and even in MAlaysia.
According to Jato figures, Nissan sold many times more than Geely. So don’t bluff
(All > Proton) according to resident clowns
but when Proton sales report comes out then it’s a “GAME OVER” for you.
I better buy Proton X70 than Nissan XTrail. Proton X70 more insteresting looks, more spacious and very comfortable and cheaper. Whereas Nissan XTrail looks dull and uninspiring, very unspacious and absolutely expensive
At least Nissan is sold in every country in the world. Boyue is 95% sold in China only. This means quality a bit dubious.
Gotta agreed. the updated X-Trail and Nissan Serena are the best in their segment.
Are you kidding?
Abesla Nissan. I hope no one is buying outdated New Facelift Nissan XTrail
Nissan always give good discounts and high trade in value for your existing car.
Like this….possibly can get far below RM123k. Oooops…..same price with 5 seater X70. I rather get a world renowned 7 seater X Trail than a China car that cannot be sold in first world countries.
At least X Trail is sold in every country in the world and time tested
later john say his X70 is like a Volvo or Mercedes
Why are you buying the Aruz then? Should have just wait for bargain X-trail.
No sense to go for the hybrid which is more expensive. It has the same spec as the 2.5l 4WD but loses out two seats and 2WD. In fact it should have been priced between the mid and high spec model. The only thing going for it is it’s cheaper roadtax but then again there’s a small bomb awaiting you after 5 years if the battery goes kaput.
I fully concur. It is the HRV facelift range conundrum again; the model to go for value proposition and maintenance costs is definitely the second from the top model, in this case the 2.5l 4WD. You save RM10k going for this instead of the 2.0 Hybrid where you lose 0.5l engine capacity, 4WD and +2 seats.
Never buy Nissan new. They will give discounts after 6-12 mths after launch. Then you either lose out or enjoy the benefits. True story, once bitten…
2019 X-Trail RM140k
2019 Proton X70 RM123k
3 years later you sell
X-Trail can get RM90k
Proton X70 can get RM35k.
Now you see it??? RM90k vs RM35k
2019 X-Trail RM140k
2019 Proton X70 RM123K
3 years later you sell
X-Trail can get RM54k
Proton X70 can get RM83k
Now you see it??? RM54K vs RM83K
I would take 3 units of X70 each for RM30k after 3 years.
Finally they got rid of the weird underwear shape steering wheel and added enough airbags after 5 years of shortchanging consumers with only 2 airbags for rm170k car..
Why bother buying a China made Proton X70 (RM123k) when you can get top Japanese cars for the same price?
1) 2019 Honda CRV 2019 2.0. After discount price RM128k
2) 2019 Subaru Forester. After discount RM123k
3) Nissan X-Trail 7 Seats. After Discounts RM125k
4) VW Tiguan 1.4 Turbo Highline After Discounts RM130k
Anak saya ramai, baik aku target Nissan X-Trail. Ada kerusi duduk 7 orang.
Kereta tempatan bodoh sangat, ada 5 kerusi duduk. Kan orang Malaysia ramai anak!
Anak kau ramai, baik kau target 65 seater bus? Ada kerusi duduk 65 orang.
The quality is 13x better than a 5 seater X70 according to our resident clown
Kalau anak ramai, tempat duduk 7 orang mana cukup Beng? Baik beli bas je lah Beng….. ini cerita karut nak kencing pembaca Paultan ke Beng?
Tak perlu kata orang bodoh …
Copy paste: “If you need to seat 7, get an MPV. Your 3rd row passengers will thank you for it.”
sorry..but even with facelift, x-trail still look outdated.
Cvt is the issue..no mention of it…if is in this tranny than fvkkkk no way..bye
How come; the windscreen mounted camera for the lane assist / highlight assist are on different sides on different variants..?
Carlos Ghosn
Far better than x70
… in terms of being an epic failure. I agree.
Honda CRV is still a better buy. smaller engine capacity, more powerful, better resale value and better badge. Price also not much difference but the value is by far better.
