Lexus LC variant due to be revealed this year – LC F?

There really isn’t much wrong with the achingly beautiful Lexus LC, but more is always better, and all signs point to something exciting being in the works. According to CarBuzz, a new variant of the luxurious sports coupé is arriving this year, and it could be the long-awaited high-performance LC F.

While Lexus won’t explicitly confirm the existence of such a vehicle, when the question was put to him during the media test drive event of the new RC F Track Edition, the company’s strategic communications senior director Moe Durand said that “something big is coming to LC this year.”

Coupled with the fact that development prototypes have been spotted since last year, it’s about as good a confirmation as you can expect at this time. In fact, the report stated that during a presentation at the event, the company flashed a photo of a test mule supposedly similar to the one you see here, saying something along the lines of “we have some cool stuff in development to show you that we can’t talk about yet.”

Lexus is also rumoured to be working on a production LC Convertible

The LC F is expected to come with one of two possible engine options. The first is a highly-tuned version of the LC 500’s glorious 5.0 litre naturally-aspirated V8, which currently produces 471 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The other, more likely rumour is the fitment of a new 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 that should make upwards of 600 hp, enabling it to compete with the upcoming BMW M8.

Of course, the LC F isn’t the only variant of the LC that Lexus is rumoured to be currently working on – the company also showed the LC Convertible concept at Detroit earlier this year, and it’s likely that the droptop version will enter production.
