Michelin has officially launched its first flagship store for premium performance-oriented tyres at SpeedLine Kota Damansara. The first of its kind in Malaysia, the store carries a full range of Michelin tyres, including ultra-high performance (UHP) Pilot Sport tyres as well as racing tyres. Michelin motorsports merchandise, too.
“Over the years, the trend for super sports cars and ultra-high-performance tuning in Malaysia has continued to rise, and we have seen an increase in demand for high performance tyres amongst consumers. The partnership with SpeedLine will allow us to provide our UHP products to this specific group of car enthusiasts who require tyres made for sport performance,” said Pascal Nouvellon, MD of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei.
Nouvellon added that this partnership is in line with Michelin’s plan to improve product availability in the Malaysian market. “As we’ve done over the years, we will continue to look at opportunities to grow with the country through various channels including increasing our already extensive dealership network and raise the profile of the car servicing industry to adhere to international standards,” he said.
SpeedLine Kota Damansara’s 2,221 sq.ft outlet is located at 31, Jalan PJU 5/18, Petaling Jaya, and operates from 9am to 7pm. The dealer will be offering exclusive Michelin motorsports merchandise with the purchase of tyres. As of March 2019, the French tyre company has a nationwide network of 124 Michelin-branded stores, 54 TyrePlus outlets and over 350 Michelin-authorised independent dealers.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Ultra High Performance you say? But the only customers I see are a Proton Saga and a Honda Jazz.
Apparently the saga park on the public car park. You may walk in and try whether is UHP or not, if you can afford it. XD
Local Sime Tyre, Good year and Dunlop should take a page from Michelin as how to make a Good Tyre that is safe ,gripy , tough and comfortable.
Especially after installing Sime Tyres, I encounter a lot of endless balancing problem causing steering of my car to vibrate substantially whenever I am driving at a higher speed. I visited many Tyre shops for tyre balancing but the results are still the same and wasting my time .
Why is this so? I was told that new Sime Tyre is not a perfect Round shape manufacture from our local factory here. The shop assistance advise me to trade in all my four Sime tyres ( only one month old ) for either Michelin or Yokohama. I pick Michelin and until today I do not have any balancing issues .
I will never settle and buy anymore Sime tyres no matter how cheap they are. Period.
The tyre shop did a lousy job in balancing your tires, managed to upsell you on a set of expensive tires, and you took their story hook, line and sinker. The term ‘waterfish’ comes to mind.
Why do u buy the lesser brand in the first place?
U pay peanut, u get monkeys. Its a simple logic.
Oh…another thing, all brand have their model for entry level/eco, mid range/touring, hp tires, ultra hp tires and so on. Michelin entry level can buy a midrange tire from another brand which perform better. Well, maybe i wasted my time trying to explain as you will still throw peanuts and expect japanese koi to come only to complaint and blindly follow ‘sifu’ advise.
Basically, he is trashing local brands and worshipping import brands with a suspicious story. Yeah, typical Malaysian mentality of foreign brand worship there.
Good for you because i think sime tyre is no longer in production for such a long time…
Pilot sport series. Best tyres I’ve used. Only thing is it cost too much more. Also it gets very hard when it’s nearing it’s lifespan. If this flagship store sells it considerably less then good otherwise it would make no difference in sales. People already know the brand. Its the cost that’s the problem.
