Mercedes-Benz to recall ’12-’15 GLK 220 CDI – report

Daimler has been required by the German transport ministry to recall 60,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Germany following the the discovery of ‘software aimed at distorting emissions tests’, Automotive News Europe quoted Bild am Sonntag as having reported. This involves the Mercedes-Benz GLK 220 CDI produced between 2012 and 2015, it said.

Daimler has confirmed that the recall was ordered on Friday, however it would be appealing against the decision while it continues to cooperate with regulators, Automotive News Europe said. Meanwhile, the German transport ministry said that it is further expanding investigation into other models.

Mercedes-Benz has emerged relatively unscathed from the Dieselgate emissions testing saga, compared to its compatriot Volkswagen, which has weathered massive fines as well as arrests of its senior personnel. The tristar wasn’t completely off the hook, however, as the German transport ministry had also ordered the Stuttgart marque to recall up to 774,000 vehicles across Europe for unauthorised software.

MB cheated, Proton did not break any rules by not putting airbag as there are no rules/law on it in MY when the models are produced.

Its not logic, its the LAW. Bet u never heard of it as maybe u always park in OKU spot, jump red light, dont wear seatbelt, uses phone while driving, jump que, etc….anything ring a bell?

Airbag don’t save lives, see Honda. OTOH preventive safety features like ESC can prevent accidents from happening. If follow your logic, everyone in Perodua (including you) should be in jail by now because for more than 20 years, Perodua never included ESC in their cars.

Perodua bosses should go to jail as well. They never have a single recall, inspite of all the complaints about engine catching fire due to no temp gauge.
And simple fundamentals like not having a light indicator for headlamps that many oblivious owners are endangering themselves and other road users when they drive without headlights at night.

Bro, Germans didn’t cheat much but except for Volkswagen which there is so many incident about Volkswagen Group Scandals in 2015. Besides, Japanese also cheat and even Korean as Hyundai also cheat which both Japanese and Korean Cars (but not for Kia) got tons of issues. You check website and see

Did you know why I said that the word German didn’t cheat much because both BMW and Mercedes got less issues like diesel emissions due to software update issues. So it shouldn’t be much problem on that. Unlike Japanese, there are having Kobe Scandal, wheel tyres came out from Toyota CH-R and other issues. Same goes to Hyundai, got lots of problem about engine, door lock, airbag issues and others parts that Hyundai got lots of problem

Should have written MY12 to 15. Or model year, as per the normal automotive understandings. Just my 2 cents

Unlike takat airbag, Diesel gate wont lead to death, but regulation lead to penalty.
This shows how strict their measurement, and we let automotive with white/black smoke on the street complain about diesel gate? what a joke.
