Toyota GR Supra GT4 race car revealed, on sale 2020

Following the GT4 Concept that was shown at Geneva earlier this year, Toyota Gazoo Racing has revealed the real thing – the Toyota GR Supra GT4 race car for customer teams. It will be launched in 2020.

Toyota says that this early announcement is “in response to growing customer expectations worldwide” following the concept car and also the participation of the GR Supra at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring endurance race last month. “Toyota Gazoo Racing intends to strengthen its focus on customer motorsports in order to enable motorsports-lovers around the world to freely participate in races, and to develop ever-better cars using the feedback gained through race participation,” it said.

The GR Supra GT4 is based on the A90 Supra road car and is developed and produced by Toyota Motorsport GmbH, the Germany-based outfit that also produced rally and circuit versions of the Toyota 86.

The GT4 race category is popular with private race teams around the world due to its low cost and ease of entry. GT4 cars are eligible for a big variety of races across the world, including Japan’s Super Taikyu Series, the GT4 European Series and VLN Endurance Championship Nurburgring in Europe, and the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series in the US.

The GR Supra already participates in the Nascar Xfinity Series in North America and, from 2020, is scheduled to compete in the Super GT GT500 Class in Japan. With the GR Supra GT4, Toyota’s global sports car will be a regular fixture at race tracks around the world, that’s for sure. Of course, you race on Sunday to sell on Monday!

Details, specs, selling price and release dates will be announced later this year. The technical partners for the Toyota GR Supra GT4 race car are German brand Ravenol for lubricants, Pirelli for tyre development and exhaust specialists Akrapovic.

Yeah, problem is most Vios owners then drive their crap cars thinking it is a Supra. A perpetual danger to themselves and others on the road.

BMW does many hard work on manufacturing on BMW Z4. Unlike for Toyota, Toyota always very lazy which Toyota rebadges BMW Z4 like changing logo for Supra, putting BMW engine into Supra and Supra interior design looks the same as Z4.

So the new quote said that, “if you want to buy Good Toyota Supra, better go for BMW Z4”

Which company now just rebadges? According to your logic, they are lazy also?

Ha ha ha. You just shot yourself in the foot

I agree with Wilson’s game changing opinion. According to Wilson, since Proton is back to rebadging business, that means Proton is a game over lazy company. So the new game changing quote is “if you want to buy Good Proton X70, better go for Geely Boyue Pro”

I didn’t say that about the quote in”if you want buy Good Proton X70, better go for Geely Boyue Pro” but only you said on your new quote about Proton X70 and Geely Boyue Pro. I only said about my quote in” if you want to buy good Toyota Supra, better go for BMW Z4”

And why do you feel the need to state the obvious? It’s obvious that Pro version will be the better one when it comes here as X70 Pro or something. Or do you think car makers should never improve their products like Toyota?

The Supra finished on pos 41 btw, two pos behind a Honda Civic, but still 13 positions ahead of the Lexus LC.
And our neighbours from Thailand (Gazoo Racing Team Thailand) finished 119th with a Toyota C-HR, which is remarkable for a small crossover in a field of GT3 and GT4 cars.

    • That’s too bad when you realise the full name for Gazoo is Gazoo Racing Master of Nurburgring (GRMN).

  • Soooory, I didn’t read the results properly. Our neighbours didn’t finish the race. Again, sorry!

Low cost when compared to F1. If you compare to SAGA Cup, it is freaking expensive hahahaha!
