Back in July, we learnt that Lexus was going to debut an electric vehicle concept at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, and now Toyota’s luxury offshoot is ready to give us a glimpse of what’s in store. The company has just released a teaser of the car, which is expected to take the form of a small hatchback.
From the looks of the single image of the front end, the car will have a rather exuberant design, with a windscreen that stretches all the way towards the spindle grille. The new treatment for the latter sees the Predator-like maw evolve into what appears to be a transparent graphic on the bumper, flowing towards the slim headlights and the corner air intakes – which themselves light up.
Also visible through the expansive windscreen is some kind of holographic instrument cluster. No technical details have been revealed just yet, but the car could utilise Toyota’s upcoming dedicated electric vehicle architecture, developed in conjunction with Subaru. The parent company already confirmed that a Lexus EV, based on this e-TNGA platform, was in the works, so this show car could very well presage it.
This wouldn’t be the first time Lexus is showcasing a small electric vehicle – the company debuted the LF-SA city car concept in Geneva way back in 2015, with a similarly outlandish design.
