2024 Range Rover updated – all variants electrified, top mild-hybrid 4.4L petrol V8 gets 615 PS/750 Nm

The L460 Range Rover line-up has been updated for the coming 2024 model year, receiving electrified powertrains across the board including upgraded plug-in hybrid models as well as mild-hybrid electrification for its petrol V8 which will be offered in two forms.

Plug-in hybrid powertrains for the Range Rover have been upgraded, courtesy of a more powerful electric motor that now outputs 218 PS to yield combined output figures of 460 PS and 550 PS for the P460e and P550e variants respectively, over the 440 PS and 510 PS in their respective variants of the original iterations.

The improvements bring a shortened 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 4.8 seconds for the P550e, from the 5.2-second time achieved by the outgoing P510e PHEV. Electric mode driving range has also been increased to 121 km on the official test cycle, or 94 km in real-world terms, according to Land Rover.

No mention was made of battery capacity for the 2024 Range Rover PHEV variants, though for reference the original L460 PHEV battery is a 38.2 kWh unit that offered a claimed 100 km range in EV mode. This update also marks the introduction of the PHEV powertrain to the long-wheelbase Range Rover SV variant.

The top of the powertrain ladder for the L460 Range Rover in this 2024 update brings mild-hybrid electrification to the BMW-sourced 4.4 litre biturbo petrol V8 engine, in two states of tune – the new P615, which outputs 615 PS and 750 Nm of torque, and the carryover-badged P530, which continues to output 530 PS, albeit also with mild-hybrid assistance.

Infotainment has also been updated for the 2024 L460 Range Rover across the board, with all versions now receiving the Jaguar Land Rover group’s updated 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment setup. This is claimed to offer 80% of functionality within two taps from the home screen.

The suite of driver assistance systems now gains Country Road Assist, which enables the use of adaptive cruise control on twisty roads, and the system will adjust its target speed for bends and changes in the prevailing limit.

Similar assistance has been added to the Range Rover’s Terrain Response off-roading programme, which offers drivers the choice of our of four vehicle speeds to select for navigating off-road terrain, according to the report.

Buyers looking for a more personalised Range Rover can continue to engage the carmaker’s SV Bespoke commissioning service, where customisation options include a paint-to-match service to replicate any colour chosen by the customer, along with 391 interior combinations, and 24-carat gold exterior badging.

The 2024 L460 Range Rover sees a slight drop in starting price for the United Kingdom, down from 103,720 pounds sterling (RM583,472) to 103,575 pounds sterling (RM582,656), according to Autocar.

the “iPad” could hang and reboot, but it doesn’t impact the critical operations of the car, so it’s alright.

    well, digitalization in inevitable.
But that said, I would prefer physical knobs for things that we use regularly while driving.
