FIA recently announced the results of the biggest F1 survey ever done. Something interesting which I noticed in the results of the survey. Apparently most Formula 1 fans dislike the Sepang track.
Other tracks which are disliked are the Magny-Cours in France and Hungaroring in Hungary.
I wonder why though. I don’t watch F1 much on TV. Anyone have their own opinions?

I find that kind of strange. Drivers love the track. Hmm… I personally love the track too, both watching and driving first hand.
Oh well, everyone’s entitled to their own opinions!

Well, if it’s the fans that watch it live on track… i got one word it’s the HUMIDITY in Malaysia. Other than that, because Sepang F1 circuit has been deemed too “flat”. Notice other tracks have more ups and downs.

The poll included a lot of fans whom are TV viewers too I presume. That would rule out the weather conditions wouldn’t it?

maybe because the usual fans from europe has to travel 13- 15 hours to get to Malaysia.

well, what do you watch in the F1 race ?
accident, overtaking, pit stop, racing neck to neck…. probably the cars when race in Sepang, they are all spread out because of the 2 straight, making this action less.
well, I enjoy F1 race everywhere. Cos U will not enjoy the race if it race in the same circuit 19 time in the year. Each venue have it’s challenge… right

Guys,
You have to understand that majority of the survery participants are from Europe so naturally there is some bias with their votes. If we have more F1 fans from Asia then the results will be more balanced.

Location is a small factor is F1 excitement these days. Look at the latest British GP. Silverstone was supposed to be the best track for overtaking with wonderful turns etc. Turns out to be a bore.
You want great F1? Take away driving assist, traction control, speed limiter, launch control and bring back slick tyres.

Take away all the drivers aid and bring back the 1000HP Tutbo engines like the 80’s Renault driven by Piquet and Prost. Sure a lot of overtaking and accidents.

Like most sports these days, tv covourage is excerllant! I go to rugby games but spend much of the time watching the live big TV screens at each end of the paddock because you can’t always see what is going on all the time! Like some of the races today that drop out of sight here and there you have the big TV screen too! Wander why Monaco was not mentioned!???
