Suzuki Grand Vitara

I just blogged about the Suzuki X2 concept a few days ago and now the Suzuki Grand Vitara is here in Malaysia! I saw the ad in Sunday Mail today.

The new Suzuki Grand Vitara is powered by a 2 liter J20A 4-cylinder engine making 140bhp and 183NM of torque. There is full-time four wheel drive like the Toyota RAV4.

Full-time four wheel drive means all four wheels has traction at all times, unlike SUVs like the Nissan X-Trail which run in 2WD mode most of the time and only engaging 4WD automatically when needed.

However unlike the RAV4, it has different gear ratios (4H and 4L) for the 4WD system on rough terrain for maximum pulling power. Modes can be switched through a rotary dial on the dashboard instead of the more common button system or a 2nd shift lever. The car comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Safety features - the SUV has 6 airbags. 2 front airbags for driver and passanger and the other 4 are curtain airbags for side impact.

There is also a 1.9 liter turbodiesel Grand Vitara with a Renault turbodiesel engine and a 2.7 liter V6 but it’s not available locally yet. 2-door versions are also available but they are not available in Malaysia yet, unless you go through a grey importer.

Price - The Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 automatic will cost RM139,888 without insurance.

I think it’s time Suzuki made a comeback as it has been way too long. The Swift is definitely a great reincarnation. I had the privilege of driving a Swift and was amazed by the performance and quality of the car inside and out.

This car is no different and with it’s simple and clean design, it is sure to win hearts. The dash reminds me of the Volvo S40 though..

looks great actually… clean n simple. any info the rear space? would it be like the nissan x-trail were it has easy-clean floor. i wonder about fuel economy, with fuel prices as they are right now… i was told the x-trail consumes about rm100 a week for normal city driving. Is this true?

It’s a nice looking car. I saw it at One Utama new wing today. Suzuki had the Grand Vitara, the Swift and the APV on display. The APV they had on display there had a terrible interior. Gearbox looks like it was ripped off Perodua and I could lift the driver seat off (really… no kidding!). That’s what you get for a 70k vechicle nowadays?

SUNGAI SIPUT: Motorists will have to pay more to use the highways now that the Government will no longer be compensating highway concessionaires in lieu of increases in toll charges.

Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the Government had to stop the payout as it could no longer burden itself with increasing costs.

AND DATUK SAMY ALSO SAY, DO NOT WORRY, IT WILL NOT BURDEN THE PUBLIC. AND BUSINESSMAN ARE REMINDED NOT TO INCREASE THE PRICE OF THE SALES AND SERVICE…… BULLSHIT

IPOH: Use your persuasive powers – that’s the advice for housewives to entice their husbands into making Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions for them.

“The amount contributed by a husband will depend on the ‘persuasion powers’ of the woman,” said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen.

“The monthly contribution will range from RM50 to RM500 and it depends on the wisdom and power of the wife in persuading her husband to make the contribution because we are not making it compulsory,” she said.

AND THE GOVERNMENT IS ALSO USING THEIR PERSUASION POWER TO GET THE WIFE ACTING FOR THEIR BEHALF TO COLLECT MONEY FOR THE GOVERNMENT USE……

SIGH…. EVERYTHING IS ON THE RAISE, PETROL INCREASE, TOLL INCREASE, VEGE INCREASE, ROTI CANAI INCREASE, ETC ETC INCREASE, AND GOVERNMENT WANT US TO SAFE…. ARE U SURE. ??

reduce in Oil Subsidy + reduce is Tol Subsidy = Cheaper Car.

    or

To Enjoy driving New car at Lower Tax = reduce in Oil Subsidy + reduce is Tol Subsidy

    or

Lost in Earning from New Car Tax = withdraw the Oil Subsidy + withdraw in Tol Subsidy.

    or

Want to drive a Cheap lower Tax car = pay your own oil and tol without Government subsidy

That is my view for the last 5 years in term of the direction of the Auto Industry.

    :) :) :)

Can’t stop dreaming of it night and day. Looks so damn hot. Price is too much to handle. Bring it down to slightly above 100k…I’m gonna be at the nearest Suzuki showroom first thing tomorrow morning. It’s assembled in the Phillipines, why is it too pricy? C’mon people, we wanna drive an SUV too! It’a trend now!

good car compared to other SUV..in between car and big truck! Handling heavy and good like other continental car, engine is smooth but when you push it hard then come the irritating sound from the engine. Tyre also make some noise too. Reason to buy, good engine(maintenance), look manly, service support available and chickz gonna lurve IT!

hi, im new here, this is sure a heart winning latest SUV when it comes to body shape, interior and road handling, but i kinna agree to some coments that this SUV is a bit over priced at RM143,763 OTR, its much cheaper in brunei :)going at BD31,000 OTR (approx) = RM71,300 with current exchange…this car in my opinion will be a favorites if they priced within RM80-100k..what do you think?
