New Acura NSX to have SH-AWD
![]()
The Acura NSX - This beauty’s production is to be stopped end of this year.
The successor to the venerable Acura NSX has been announced and it will come with Honda’s SH-AWD all-wheel drive system.
The car is set to have a V10 engine, which I suspect will be chock-full of F1 technology like BMW’s M5 V10.
What’s special about Honda’s SH-AWD (Superior Handling All Wheel Drive) is it not only adjusts torque between the front and rear wheels but it also adjusts between the left and right rear wheels.
This means that during a very high speed turn, torque to the rear wheels is about 70% of total torque and 100% of rear wheel torque goes to 1 of the wheels. The result is improved traction and less possibility of spin-outs.
SH-AWD first appeared in the Acura RL in 2004. The current NSX production will stop this year end.

Sounds similar to the system in the Evos. The Skylines too I think.

thats not the next generation nsx. the new nsx will (reportedly) be styled based on the Honda HSC and Honda Dualnote concept cars.

yeah.. i like the NSX a lot! love hte smooth aerodynamic features of the car.. shows asain designers got one helluva good taste! hahaah.. yeah the system clearly resembles the Evo’s ACD and the SAYC.. shifting torque here and there to match weight shift.. though i think the skyline’s one is more advanced.. hahah..
still prefer an evo.. ;p

the Skyline’s Super HICAS system is a different application altogether. instead of redirecting the torque to a particular wheel, both the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, therefore reducing the load on the outside tyre. it only involve movements of +/- 1degree though. plus it only comes into action at speeds beyond 80km/h
