The Edge reports that Proton is looking into purchasing two Volkswagen platforms to produce it’s own versions for the local market under the Proton badge. After the purchase, design and development would take an additional year.

The Daihatsu Be-Go is the production version of the Daihatsu D-Compact 4×4 which I’ve blogged about before. From concept to production in such a short time. The D-Compact 4X4 was shown at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, and months later it’s already shown as a production car at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show.

This is something really amusing. As most of you should know, Renault’s F1 team won the 2005 Formula 1 championship. To celebrate their victory, Renault put one of their RS25 V10 Formula 1 engines on the dyno machine and programmed the engine management to make the engine sing!

BMW UK seems very sure of themselves. Marketing director of BMW UK Uwe Ellinghaus noted that Audi customers are of a similiar age to BMW owners. But he said that if the original is available, why should anyone buy a good copy? It looks like BMW isn’t taking Audi seriously at all.
Ellinghaus considers Mercedes Benz a serious competitor, but generally Mercedes Benz buyers have a different taste from BMW buyers.
Of course, this arrogance is justified. BMW’s expected sales forecoast this year is a huge number of 100,000-110,000 cars.

General Motors Corporation is in trouble lately. It’s market share in the United States is at a 25-year all time low. Sales are down 26% this month compared to October last year.
