2006 Honda Accord Euro
Whenever I look at the Honda Accord Euro I can just hear it sing out “Don’t you wish your Accord was hot like me?” to me. It’s just so hot. Our Honda Accord is actually known as the Honda Inspire in Japan, but the bigger Accords are always chosen because it suits our Malaysian market tastes. This is the real 2006 Honda Accord, which has just gone through a facelift.
This is more than just a looks makeover, the new 2006 Honda Accord Euro has been updated with new features to enhance your driving experience. The 2.0 liter model has a refined K20 engine which makes it’s peak torque at an engine speed 500rpm lower than the previous model. The new engine has also been fitted with a Drive-By-Wire throttle. The turbodiesel 2.2 i-CTDi model also gets a new 6 speed transmission.
In the technology department, you have a few funky acronyms to play around with. ADAS which comprises of LKAS and ACC. ADAS is Honda’s Advanced Driving Assist System, found in the 2.4 liter model.
LKAS (Lane Keeping ASsist System) has cameras mounted behind the windscreen and processes video feeds from the camera. It then calculates the optimum steering torque to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.
ACC is Adaptive Cruise Control. It uses a millimetre-wave rader mounted inside the front grille to measure distance from the Accord to the vehicle ahead, and together with data from speed and yaw sensors it regulates the car speed and ensures a safe distance is kept.
If you really have the moolah, try getting Naza or some other grey importer to import one in. Guaranteed to make head turns when you drive by.

God I love this car, one of the “only” Honda models I fancy. I’m in OZ right now for some personal reasons and there are millions of these running around.
The Accords at home look so fat and ugly, This looks like it went on a diet and some serious exercise. Plus, check out the twin tailpipe exhaust system. If only they sold this model back home as part of the line-up. That would be so awesome.

oversight, the K20 is equipped in a lot of Honda models,
for example:
accord
accord euro
accord euro R
civic
civic type R (EP3)
integra
integra type R (DC5)
stream
*& other models not sold here..
although the engine code might be the same K20, each engine mounted on different models generate different power output… because every car has different needs regarding power…
technical specs might look similiar with the stream and RSX as the bore x stroke is totally same, with the exception of compression ratio and fuel management that will either give it more horsepower, or more torque…

Sharfox & stewpid , it’s a JDM Accord sold in japan and euro markets… nothing new about it.. it’s been around since 2003…
just that it received a minor facelift in the interior and bumpers…
singapore also has it via grey imports…

Drive-by-wire is exactly the same thing employed in the Campro engines of both Gen.2 and Waja. This system is gaining popularity with carmakers. In the automotive industry, it’s drive-by-wire. In the aviation industry, the similar technology is known as fly-by-wire.
In a conventional system, you have a conventional throttle cable linking the pedal to the throttle. The pedal position is 100% mechanically transfered to the throttle.
In a drive-by-wire system, there is no throttle cable. Instead, you have a pedal position sensor (normally a rheostat) which detects pedal angle (how much you step on it with your right foot) and converts it to electronic signals. This signal is then transmitted through electrical wires to ECU. The signal is then sent to the throttle from the ECU. A servo motor in the throttle then converts the electrical signal back into mechanical movements. This mechanical movement is the throttle opening.

Are you sure you can bring the Euro/JDM Accord into Malaysia? Thought there were limitations to bringing in imported Hondas/Acuras to Malaysia. Also, the Camry can’t really be compared to this Accord coz it’s smaller, sportier and targeted for a different market. The Euro/JDM Accord will completely demolish the Camry in every department except for interior space. The current Camry is frigging ugly. Luckily, the new Camry looks a bit better, though it looks a bit like a fattened version of the Mazda 6.

it’s sad to say that the local car market in M’sia just doesnt appreciate honda models. i mean, they dont really bother (grey) importing ‘chunted’ models of the honda range (e.g. Accord Euro, Civic R, Integra or maybe Elysion).

I still prefer the current shape accord… its kick ass.
