Toyota Aygo Football

aygo_small.jpgThe Toyota Aygo is the smallest Toyota yet, marketed in places in the UK as a city car, with the classic city car characteristics like easy parking, great fuel economy, and an affordable price. It shares the same platform as the Peugeot 107 and the Citroen C1, which are basically all rebadges of the same thing. It’s powered by a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder engine making 67 horsepower. Toyota says this engine is the lightest engine ever installed in any modern car, weighing in at only 69kg. Top Gear reviews the Toyota Aygo, and as always they have something interesting in store. The Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 and the Peugeot 107 are the same car underneath but surprisingly the Citroen is the cheapest of the lot costing 500 pounds less if I’m not mistaken.

This car is remarkably agile and I think is very good value for money. It even has an Auxilary on the front dash to plug your Ipod into!

[...] The new car will be a CBU model, and it will be a small-sized car. It could be the Toyota Aygo, but rumours are that it’s the Toyota Yaris, also known as the Toyota Vitz or the Toyota Belta. [...]

the Aygo is basically a Myvi built to cater european taste and needs ( for youths with no family attachments etc.) but i love the aygo for its fun sporty looks, unlike the too practical and a lil bit dull Myvi.

yep, but your average low income malaysian family still will use a kancil or a car of this class as a “family” car…..

Myvi? nay, my friend, it’s Toyota’s version of Kancil! why i say so? it’s bcoz of all the cost cutting measures areeven worse than myvi and more like a kancil instead! but with ABS and Airbag? man, it’s something that our local carmakers can learn about!

nice football game too, plus they start main kasar towards the end wey…

Paul, that was the Toyota Aygo. Check out the Top Gear Winter Olympic. This time, they use the Suzuki Swift for a ice hockey match, a Biathlon between Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90, and they rocketed a Mini Cooper off a ski jump. And watch Jeremy eat the “yellow snowball!” LOL! Talk about entertainment. =)

[...] The Peugeot 106’s sister was the Citroen Saxo, which was developed to replace the Citroen AX. The Citroen AX of course, was rebadged locally as a Proton Tiara. The Peugeot 106 has since been replaced by the Peugeot 107 (Citroen C1), which shares a platform with the Toyota Aygo. A small car like this could very well replace the Proton Iswara as Proton’s staple offering for the budget market, if it was a sedan instead of a hatchback. Of course, do not misunderstand the mention of the Peugeot 106. It doesn’t mean Proton will be rebadging Peugeot 106 cars, I think it was just used in the report as a reference as to what car Proton and Peugeot would be building together. PSA Peugeot Citroen’s French competitor Renault has a budget automobile developed together with Romanian car manufacturer Dacia, called the Renault Logan, which is basically a Dacia Logan - a Renault Clio platform with a boot. Peugeot could be thinking along the lines of the same strategy Renault has used to enter the budget car market. [...]

[...] Do you remember the Toyota Aygo football match? Top Gear actually took a few Toyota Aygos and used them in a field to play football with a huge blown up football. This is something else altogether - we see Top Gear pitch the Japanese against the Germans in this car football match between the Toyota Aygo and the Volkswagen Fox. 14. Proton and PSA Peugeot Citroen sign letter of intent said,

    September 18, 2006 @ 4:55 pm

[...] PSA Peugeot Citroen is not foreign to partnerships with other companies. They currently have a joint venture with Toyota for small cars (the Peugeot 107, the Citroen C1 and the Toyota Aygo are the same car), a joint venture with Mitsubishi for SUVs (Peugeot 4007 based on Mitsubishi Outlander), engine partnerships with BMW (2nd generation new MINI’s engine is a project between BMW and PSA Peogeot Citroen), as well as other partnerships with Fiat, and Seat. All these partnerships function without cross-shareholding. [...]
