As most of you know, Proton had disposed of MV Agusta last December for 1 Euro in an exercise to divest its non-core assets. Lexus gives away iPod Nanos for IS250 recall

lexus_is250_ipod.jpg

Living up to it’s premium brand and service, Lexus is giving out compensation to customers who have their Lexus IS cars delivery delayed due to a recall that is going on currently. Lexus IS buyers who have their delivery delayed by a week or so have received iPod Nano 2GBs and XtremeMac Aux cables so they can hook up their new music machine to their cars. On top of that, buyers have been given loaner cars to drive around during the delay. Awfully nice of Lexus don’t you think?

Top Gear pitches the Mazda MX-5 against a Greyhound

mazda_mx5_miata.jpg

Now this is really good. Hamster from Top Gear reviews the latest best selling roadster of all time, the Mazda MX-5. A very good review I have to admit, but the best part of this video is the challenge the Top Gear folks put it through. A race in a greyhound race track against a greyhound. It is the year of the dog after all. And dogs are fast mind you, it goes from 0-72km/h which is also it’s top speed in about 6 strides. That’s about one second. A greyhound is also the 2nd fastest accelerating animal in the world after the cheetah. The video is after the jump. Do watch until the end for a funny conversation on animal handling characteristics.

2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca

tribeca1.jpg

Subaru unveiled this facelifted version of it’s luxury SUV Subaru B9 Tribeca at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show recently. This is Subaru’s entry into a more upmarket segment of the automotive market, after spending years in the rally sports sedan market with it’s Impreza. I think it’s safe to say the B9 Tribeca was designed for the SUV-crazy American market.

The Australian taste for large sedans with big engines are apparent with the Holden Commodore. Mitsubishi’s most recent offensive on the market was the Mitsubishi 380. This is Toyota’s latest offering for the Australian market, the Toyota Aurion, replacing it’s previous failed large sedan offering the Toyota Avalon.

Pontiac Solstice Wagon Concept

edagsolstice1.jpg

I’m sure most of you remember the company EDAG Engineering + Design AG , which made the green EDAG Show Car No. 8 which I blogged about back in September last year based on the Smart Roadster.

EDAG has done it again with the Pontiac Solstice Wagon Concept, turning a hot roadster body into a shooting brake and even giving it a hard top for those who don’t really like soft tops.

4007_1.jpg

With the increasing European demand for 4X4 vehicles, the quickest way for companies like Peugeot to satisfy the demand is sharing platforms. This is the Peugeot 4007, based on the Mitsubishi Outlander. Peugeot and Mitsubishi will be collaborating together on off-road vehicles as Mitsubishi has a pretty good track record with the Pajero/Shogun and the Outlander.
