This just in.
- The government will progressively phase out the Approved Permits system, with complete abolishment by December 2010.
- Import tariffs for ASEAN vehicles under the ASEAN Common Effective Preferential Tariff will be reduced to 5%.

The above is more on complying with AFTA commitment! Can we call it “policy” to stimulate automotive sector. BTW, waite and see more announcement!

…a cheap Beamer?….dream on….yes 5% import duty….300% exise duty….so what’s the diff??…the Gov are not c2pid….if only 5% import duty…tomorrow….P1 & P2 can immediately close shop….

Errm… Gov is kind enough to consider if AP kings cannot find jobs after that, so the system still continue for a period (another 4 yrs) until it’s abolish…
