optra_estate_2.jpg

DRB-HICOM’s unit Hicomobil Sdn Bhd which distributes Chevrolet cars here in Malaysia has launched a new variant of the Chevrolet Optra. The new variant is the Chevrolet Optra Estate, a station wagon version of the Chevrolet Optra sedan and the Optra 5 hatchback. The Chevrolet Optra Estate will be offered with a 1.6 liter Daewoo E-TEC II DOHC engine (107bhp@5800rpm, 150Nm@4000rpm) mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. No manual or 1.8 liter models yet.

The Chevrolet Optra Estate will cost RM92,888 on the road without insurance, making it the only station wagon in Malaysia under the RM100,000 range. We used to have the Nissan AD Resort in the past. For more details on the Chevrolet Optra Estate, click here.

Looks is okay but I would prefer it to be using a 1.8L engine. I am sure there would people out there that would appreciate such a car especially for its space.

Stationwagon design for family requirement which normally required extra loads, I feel 1.6 is underpower, should be at least 1.8 or 2.0 is better, just like NAZA Citra.

    erm…..i like station wagons

My first car was a second-hand AD Resort (model 2000, with slightly different interior layout from the 1996-1997 ‘California’ models) which i bought over from my company. It was a powerful (twincam engine) and spacious. Only setback was it really consumes alot of petrol, so i sold it off after almost 1 year. Still, i miss my old first ‘gf’.

Hehe… station wagons are not very popular here at my place… n Chevy is not popular as well… cos at my place most ppl buy toyota… hehe… only one optra5 at my town here if not mistaken… n few Optra with a few with original bodykits… most are Aveo… but not much also… some ppl mod it… not bad actually… but for this Estate version Optra… even though looks not bad… still… I think its not going to appear in my town… hehe… but if this Estate fitted with a 18″ 5 wide spokes… i think it’ll be nice… hehe… n I personally think a 1.6 is already enough for normal use… at least the HP is bigger than Waja’s old engine… hehe… This’s a low RPM torque engine… designed for city usage… hehe… not bad for city use…
