LATEST UPDATE: Nissan Grand Livina 1.6 and 1.8 launched in Malaysia

Nissan Motors has unveiled the Nissan Livina Geniss, a seven-seater MPV part of Nissan’s new global car line-up. It was displayed to the public today at the 2006 Guangzhou International Motor Show. The MPV was designed and engineered at Nissan’s Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan.

The Livina Geniss rides on the Renault-Nissan B platform underpinings that also spawned the Nissan Micra, Renault Clio and Renault Modus.

The car will be made in Nissan’s plant in Kota Bukit Indah, a 90-minute drive south-east of Jakarta in the first half of 2006. It will also be assembled in China together with Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle’s Company Huadu plant in Guangdong Province as the Nissan Jun Yi and will make it’s worldwide production debut in China first.

The Chinese version will feature the MR18DE engine. Up to 8 different variants will be produced with differences according to market needs in different countries. A report by Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times says the car will be assembled here in Malaysia as a CKD. Tan Chong could position this as a competitor against the Toyota Innova, for those that cannot afford the Nissan Serena.

Looks deceiving. If this is based on the Clio/Modus/Micra/Versa platform, this thing is the size of an Avanza.

Actually, it just looks more like the Versa with a longer hatch. Same engine and platform.

sure or not? this car will be assembled here as CKD. Really disappointed with the Tan Chong Malaysia for only bring in those outdated models such as sentra and cefiro.. should bring in Tiida, Micra etc..

Why Nissan always one step behind to it’s two competitors, Toyota and Honda in bringing in new model? I think Tan Chong should consider to bring in Renault also since Nissan is part of Renault Group now… hehe.. can’t wait to see CKD Clio & Megane on Malaysian shore ler…..

If they put a reasonable price tag on this thing, its sales would probably beat that of Innova’s. Now let’s wait for Nissan to release its performance stats…

    Hi Paul,
I sent the email to Malaysia Nissan and they told me that they dont have any plan to get this model at Malaysia. But, i saw the sales officer put the adv at shopping mall that this car was used to fight for Innova, is it true? They also told me that this car will be in malaysia on July. Who should i believe?

    Thanks!
