Subaru turbodiesel boxer to make debut at Geneva
Subaru’s boxer turbodiesel will make it’s public debut at the 77th Geneva International Motor Show next month, and it will displayed together with a full drive train, mated to Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system.
Subaru says the turbodiesel boxer will find it’s first use in a vehicle early 2007, perhaps in one of the European spec diesel new Imprezas. No displacement or any power outputs were given in Subaru’s press release, so we will have to wait until next month to get the full details at Geneva. the closes i’ve been to a boxer engine, was an impreza wrx pulling away from a traffic light… the pounding sound of the boxer just stays with you!
this diesel, will it intimidate road users such as the petrol version??

high time for malaysian to drive green diesel engine, pollution? ..
with euro 1,2, or whatever standard compliant, its cleaner,,, and cheaper even rd tx is cheaper(than normal diesel engined), with km/litre far outdo the patrol,
wise maker or importer should go for this,

The engine’s good, but our diesel quality sucks..
Heard that Govt is trying to regulate for a better quality diesel. Hopefully this will be implemented soon (without any price penalty - wishful thinking ya)

and whats with proton? no diesel? i am from turkey we need diesel cars, 80% of the sold cars are diesel because of them is the sell of proton not enough. they need a diesel engine, no diesel no sell…
last year proton sell 414cars in turkey
kia which has diesel engines sell more than 15000 cars

i suggest u to wait another 10 years….or maybe
till 2020 which is only a mere 13 years away…
anyway Proton still can get help from Renualt as usual,
or Mitsubishi as well for engine supplies……. or VW maybe ?
or GM ?

i think when comes to Diesel improvement in M’sia
IMHO,
when quality improved, price increase
when quality deteriorate, price remain the same!

this boxer diesel engine picture seem like to use a timing chain, not timing belt.
