Top Gear Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Cayenne Turbo S

Richard Hammond, a clear fan of the Porsche Cayenne thanks to his romping in it through a rally track in the most powerful variant - the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Of course, there’s no Turbo S for the facelift yet so this is the pre-facelift model. But then again, the old Turbo S makes 512hp, and the facelifted Turbo is pretty near that amount at 500 horses, so the facelifted Turbo S could end up making nearly 600hp.

BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park

pit-lane-park-1.jpg

BMW’s Pit Lane Park will be coming to Malaysia during the KL Grand Prix week next month. It will be the first stop of five in the world, with the following being Barcelona, Silverstone in the UK, Nurburgring in Germany and Shanghai.

The BMW Sauber F1 Pit Lane Park will be located next to KLCC’s central prak along Jalan Binjai, and will be open from April 5th to April 8th. What exactly is a Pit Lane Park? Well, it has a miniature race track, mini grandstands, an F1 training centre and garage, a display of BMW race cars as well as other attractions.

The BMW F1.07 will be there and will alternate on-track throughout the day with a Formula BMW race car. There will also be stunt performances by BMW Motorrad, BMW’s motorcycle division. There are also other activities such as a public pit stop challenge and question-and-answer sessions with BMW Sauber F1 team mechanics and trainers. All in all, I think the event will be someting not to be missed for fans of Formula 1, especially the BMW Sauber F1 Team.

More Satria Neo Photoshopped Concepts

Satria Neo 5 Door

We really must thank Proton’s design team for the Satria Neo as it has inspired many graphic artists to practice their skills. Above is a new photoshopped image from Theophilus Chin, something that looks abit more realistic thanks to an actual photograph source image.

Below is reader cikdet’s modification of Theophilus Chin’s previous work, turning the 5-door Neo into a 5-door stationwagon called the Satria Neo T. I assume the T means Touring, following BMW’s naming convention. You can click both images in this post for a larger version.

Naza 206 Bestari Manual Launched

Naza Bestari

The Naza 206 Bestari is now available in manual transmission, which should make the car abit more zippy due to less transmission losses, more gear ratios making them closer together as well as the enjoyment of shifting the gears yourself.

You can get one at Naza showrooms for RM63,888, about RM5,000 less than the automatic variant, however with this manual version the ABS has also been removed. However, the twin SRS airbags for the front remain. Surveys show customers in this price range value Dual Airbags first, Reverse Sensors and Vehicle Security as priorities.

Porsche Cayenne Slalom

Cayenne Facelift

Check out this video of the new facelifted 2007 Porsche Cayenne doing a slalom course. Notice the body roll is very minimal thanks to the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) roll stabilizer system. Read my previous post on the Porsche Cayenne Facelift to find out how Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control works.

Porsche Flasher Ad

996carreracabriolet.jpg

How many of you think Porsches have sex appeal, raise your hands! This is an amusing advertisement where a girl walks down an alley and spots a Porsche parked by the side of the road. Naturally, she thinks the car is hot, and decides to give it a little tease by flashing it. The result: apparently Porsches like lingerie.

GM developing V12 for Cadillac

cadillaclogo.jpgGeneral Motors is developing a new V12 engine for Cadillac to be used in a new large luxury sedan to be built for the marque. The new Cadillac large luxury sedan will go against the likes of the Lexus LS, BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes Benz S-class.

The V12 powerplant is being built by joining two existing 3.6 liter V6 designs in tandem, making them share a single crankshaft. Thus, the new V12 will share the 3.6 liter V6’s technologies such as cylinder shut-off during low load for better fuel economy as well as direct injection. The new 7.2 liter V12 is expected to make over 600 horsepower and 732Nm of torque.

Peugeot 207SW Stationwagon Spyshots

207swspyshot.jpg

These photos of a Peugeot holding car park were snapped showing the stationwagon variant of the 207 clearly. The Peugeot 207SW as expected is basically a Peugeot 207SW Outdoor Concept without all the soft-roading design elements and the funky concept-style lights.

2010 BMW X1 in consideration

bmw-x1-1.jpg

BMW is considering adding a small SUV called the BMW X1, positioning it below the BMW X3 and basing it on the BMW 1-Series platform, using 4WD components from the X3. Such a move echos announcements by other German automakers set to produce vehicles for the segment such as Audi’s upcoming Q3. Above is an artist’s impression of how it could look like. If it is to be produced, expect a debut in 2010.

One more shot of the rear after the jump.
