New BMW 8-Series, or 6-series 4-door?

8series.jpg

BMW is considering a new 4-door car with a coupe-like roofline, which will allow it to compete in the battlefield of 4-door coupes comprising of the Mercedes Benz CLS, future Audi A7, future Aston Martin Rapide, and future Porsche Panamera.

There are conflicting reports on what the name of the new 4-door coupe would be. Some say it will be known as the 8-Series, with model variants most likely being the 835i, 850i, and the M8. Others say it will be launched as a 6-series when it is time for the BMW 6-Series to receive an all-new model replacement, which will mean the future 6-series will be available in both 2-door and 4-door form.

    The future market segment are cars that are light, fuel saving, big, comfortable, mercedes benz quality interior and comfortness, good looking, maintenance free, AND CHEAP.

    -> Toyota Camry.

    others are all rubbish.

    Looks like shit. Again BMW, again.

    Some of you make comments about preferring RWD, like it makes a difference to you.

    AmiR:

    Horsepower is a measurement of an engine’s total output whereas brake horse power is measured at the maximum operating RPM of the engine.

    Wow, looks agressive, a very bold and fresh one from BMW. Hope it can shine beside the very very elegant Aston Martin. Panamera, CLS, bah! Souless designs, just reuse old shapes.

    Since we’re on 4 door super sports coupes I wish Lamborghini would revive the Espada (for me the most desirable 4-seater sports car of its time), but with additional 2 doors. This would probably blow away the competition.
    BTW saw an Espada parked in front of house facing sea in the east coast some years back. Anyone know ’bout this?

    Espada???

    I only know about Miura, Countach, Diablo, Gallardo and Murcielago….
