Mercedes-Benz S-Class Bluetec-Hybrid
A hybrid version of the W221 Mercedes Benz S-Class will be unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in September this year, making it Mercedes Benz’s first hybrid car. Unlike most hybrids which use a petrol-electric combination, the hybrid S-Class will combined a Bluetec diesel engine with a compact electric motor.
A previous concept called the Direct Hybrid concept used a 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine together with an electric motor, but sources reveal it is more likely the S-class hybrid will use a four-cylinder Bluetec diesel instead, likely a similiar engine to the 2.2 liter 4-pot found in the Mercedes Benz Vision C220 Bluetec concept. There is also another Bluetec turbodiesel in the Benz arsenal - the 4.2 V8 TDI Bluetec that was put into the Vision GL420 Concept.
There is no official name for the car at the moment, but some have begun to call it the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Bluetec-Hybrid.

Besides the tech details, this merc looks like it have excessive botox injected into its front and rear fenders. Mimic an aftermath of a boxer after a 3 ring bouts with miketyson.

Hybrid’s finally a reality now, what next? Internal nuclear reactor? Would be great haha.

great news……something which i really want…..not a petrol hybrid but a turbodiesel hybrid which an ultimate fuel saver……need to wait longer before it goes into smaller and much more affordable vehicles.

nah… not helping that much also.
just check out how long do a lexus hybrid can last .
its using the engine most of the time .
so whats the point of the hybrid thingy ?

would this be one of the first DIESEL hybrids in the market?
i am driving a Honda Civic Hybrid (1.3l petrol engine + electric) , fc is pretty good but not astounding (can get around 12-13km/l city driving) , and it has powerful acceleration. but i’d really love to see how a diesel hybrid would behave.
BlueTec diesel requires AdBlue fluid to optimize performance, though. so not likely to see it in m’sia anytime soon
