Nissan Mixim Concept Electric Car

This strange thing is the Nissan Mixim, a 3-seater microcar that will make it’s debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The Nissan Mixim is an electric vehicle with a 1+2 seating arrangement accessible via gullwing doors on either sides of the car.
The 950kg car is powered by two “Super Motors” as Nissan calls them, each powering an axle, effectively making the car all-wheel drive.

A concept car is a car prototype made to showcase new concept, design & styling, technology, etc. They are normally shown at motor shows to measure public reaction to some outrages and radical designs. It may not reach the production line or if there’s a chance it may not exactly be the original. So, doesn’t matter how it look like, it managed to capture our attention. It’s rather nice actually, except the wheel look very CD/DVD from the side.

obviously this is to showcase the idea to mate a electric powertrain directly on the axle. Are there any data on range? Charge rate? etc?

Wow….3 seater…hrmm..will that idea catch on? Maybe on super small cars lar…but I don’t think a 3-seater will be popular here..lolz!!

An electric or hybrid micro car is a concept I can live with. We should have more of them in the future. Especially in urban areas. There’s a lot to save with this type of vehicle; energy, space, money etc. But, until they reduce/scrap hefty taxes on this type of vehicles, make them as affordable as a Kancil, we’ll just stick to our big noisy smog spewing road hogging petrol/diesel car.
