Suzuki Equator: new Frontier-based pickup truck

Nissan Frontier

Suzuki is planning to unveil a new mid-sized pick up truck at the Chicago International Auto Show in February next year. Suzuki management believes this product makes sense as they believe buyers of Suzuki’s popular motorcycles and ATVs will want a truck to haul their big boy toys around with.

We saw a pick up truck concept at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show called the Suzuki X-HEAD Concept, but the new mid-sized will not be based off it, instead it will be essentially be a reengineered Nissan Frontier as Suzuki and Nissan already have a cross-rebadging partnership.

The truck might be called the Suzuki Equator as the name was recently registered as a trademark in the US on the 5th of November 2007.
