Jaguar XF wins 2007 Autocar Design Award

Jaguar XF

The beautiful new Jaguar XF has snagged the Design Award at the 2007 Autocar Awards at The Royal Horticultural Halls in London on 11th November.

“This is the first time Jaguar has won this highly respected Autocar award for a production car and I’m absolutely thrilled it has been given to the new XF. It’s wonderful to receive recognition for our efforts within the industry and from our ultimate critics – the motoring media,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director.

“What most impressed Autocar’s judging panel is Jaguar’s success in producing a car that looks elegant, graceful and ‘Jaguar-like’. This is a car, we believe, of which Sir William Lyons, founder of Jaguar would thoroughly have approved,” said Chas Hallett, Editor of Autocar.

Good news for Malaysians is that the first units are expected to reach Malaysian shores in mid-2008.

nice car, great design, cool specs…….

but for me, Jaguar should be more “traditional-designed”, just like Rolls-Royce, maintain all the retro curves and exterior……

saw them on the road already. even sounds like a cat.

i think they should ditch the traditional design and move on. chase aston and beat them in price and performance.

If I’m not mistaken Jaguar does shares the same DNA with Aston. Haven’t you seen the resemblance? Google for Aston Rapid image, you’ll see. Not only the chassis, but the engine too. But usually Aston got it on production first.

Anyway, I love how the car slides through the corner. It looks so smooth…almost graceful. Wonder how it really feels to drive one. It may have a hint of Lexus’s lines on the side. But it’s a good looking car.

I still think the DB9 looks better than this

the XF is a saloon car, the db9 is a sports car. they’re totally different types of cars. its like comparing a c-class with an slk.

I dont think it looks like the Rapide. Not by a longshot

Both are fast back sedans, perhaps the Jag does have some design elements of the Aston, where it comes to the rear finishings, but then again, its designed by the same person.

The Rapide however, is a whole different animal, in terms of looks, performance and presence. The Rapide is at a step up from the CLS and the Panamera - although that thing is leagues behind in the looks department. Perhaps the only thing that would come close is a 4 door Ferrari - which will never happens as Ferrari is unlikely to dilute itself with a 4 door (other than the special order, pininfarina built 456 for the Sultan of brunei).

And the guy that posted that it look like a Gen2? lol. I guess that can be forgiven if you’ve only seen a Gen2 and nothing else.
