These are the latest sketches of the upcoming 5-door version of the new Mitsubishi Lancer. It looks like a closer-to-production version of the original Mitsubishi Sportback Concept that was shown years ago. Expect a production or near-production car to be shown at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show in March.

it’s better if Mitsubishi don’t waste time on imagining concept car la, put full energy and concentration in producing the Lancer GT is better la. Waiting list is one year !

Now, this is more like it. Mitsubishi always had fastbacks sedans in its lineup, the past 2 generations of Lancers have been without one for far too long. Its difficult not to appreciate the extra utility from a fastback.
The waiting list for Lancer has nothing to do with the design team, but more to do with the local dealers’ poor enticipation of demand.

Well now, that’s unexpected. I thought only Subaru went mad with turning their flagship model into a hatch which looks plain sh*t ugly.
Hopefully, Mitsubishi will make their version of the hatch look pretty, and if it’s anything to go by, the early sketches are already pretty enough, reminds me of the Ford Focus XR5 though. XD

If the actual production car is as sleek as this, then it will be superb. Quite often the actual prodution car will stand taller for practicality reason. The rear has a slight hint of Ford Focus.

Wah, another dream car from Mitsu…look like replacement for Airtrek/Outlander.
Please, cannot compare today Mitsu vs. P1 lah…Mitsu now makes dream cars; P1 makes cream cars. People buy Mitsu for the hot sexy dream design; people buy P1 bcoz the govt make P1 the only car your $$ can buy. Be honest to ourselves, if Mitsu and P1 are same price, how many will still buy P1??
