Buick Business MPV Concept built for China

Buick Business MPV

The Buick brand is possibly GM’s most successful brand out of the US and it’s quite big in China. The Buick GL8 was the 2nd most highest selling MPV in 2008 in China, selling 36,252 units second to the JAC Refine’s 36,304 units.

Here comes the Buick Business MPV Concept, which was designed and engineered by GM’s Pan Asian Technical Automotive Center. It’s designed to appeal to the upper class Chinese customer and styling-wise it looks like a larger version of the Opel Meriva concept showcased late year – you should be able to immediately recognise it by the shoulderline profile which takes a little dip in the middle before rising back up. Perhaps this is a “Grand Meriva”.

Buick Business MPV

There is no B-pillar and the rear doors slide rearward to offer full easy access to the interior, which features 6 individual seats that look rather comfortable. The middle row can be rotated to face the rear for easy meetings between 4 people, and there is even a table in the middle which you can use to place your notebook or something.

Look after the jump for a full gallery of the Buick.

Why look like they copy savvy's step up… or rather, step down in this case…

The grille makes it look cheap rather than exceutive-ish……

Hi, When Buick makes a roadster again…..consider making it bigger than the "SKY/SOLSTICE" as we're 6'1" and need a little more trunk and more affordable than the "XLR'. Thanks, Bart

  • I think the cost of engineering the B pillar-less structure to pass side impact test may be too high to worth the trouble.

For sure the engine capacity is 1.6 campro cps. I think this car can only run 100 km/h max. Hahaha

china is not-really-open-market, but to market is so big make it worth to invest even foreigner only can have max 49% of share.

not really open market? cukai import only 5% bagi kereta bawah 1.6 compare to our conuntry. tu bukan open market lg ke? just check harga Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Buick, Chevrolet dan Caddilac, mazda, Suzuki di China compare di Malaysia. Boleh dpt 2 bijik kereta dengan harga sama di Malaysia dan ada model tertentu boleh dpt 3 bijik dengan model yang sama di Malaysia oleh pembuat yg sama. semuanya pasal cukai.

not realy open market. Compare to our country, China is open market. The fact show US, German car dominate china car market which conquer by German made Volkswagen follow by GM ( Buick, Chevrolat, Cadilac ) and then Hyundai and Honda. Local auto maker like Chery and BYD ranked in no5 and no6. No 1 is Volkswagen, No2 is GM. Cukai import untuk bawah 1.6 hanya 5%. Memang ada kata nak dinaikkan tapi just 7.5 %.

It may not be the first, but it's certainly the one that became a hot topic to bash Savvy. Put it on Savvy it got bashed. Put it on some foreign car, it became nice.

    Oh Malaysiaku…………
