The package is for a 7 year term with monthly repayments to increase slightly year on year.

At this point, all E90 320i models have been sold and what’s available is the E90 323i. Unlike its 320i sibling, the 323i is powered by a 6-cylinder 2.5 liter engine which makes 190 hp and 230 Nm of torque between 3,250 and 5,000 revs.

Other features include iDrive with GPS and Bluetooth, engine start/stop button and important safety equipment such as DSC which is ESP (electronic stability programme) in BMW’s terms, airbags, ABS with EBD, run-flat tyres and so on.

The package includes a total of 36 different parts with different part numbers, including different “hidden” parts that you need to change other than the front and rear bumpers themselves, like new fog lamps, new PDC sensors, and a different engine compartment shielding.

The package price for the conversion kit is RM15,888 inclusive of labour charges for the conversion.

You won’t get the full M Sport look though, as that is a much more costly conversion since a 528i M Sport also includes black window trim and an M Sport interior.

Castrol EDGE Nurburgring Experience: The Sequel – a step closer to the “Green Hell”

The sequel to the Castrol EDGE Experience Nurburgring is heading on to the most exciting part of the selection process, which will see the “strongest” driver represent Malaysia for the ultimate driving experience of a lifetime in a BMW M3 at the legendary Nurburgring.

Stage 1 is set to complete this Sunday, February 27, and the top 20 finalists will move on to the exclusive Castrol EDGE Experience Malaysia – Nurburgring challenge to determine the grand prize winner. On March 16, the top 20 finalists are set to battle it out to find the single driver for the “Green Hell” and in the process join last year’s winner Khairul Izwan as the select few who have enjoyed such an honour.

The 20 finalists will be chosen based on the most number of completed laps on a virtual Nurburgring track played on Castrol Malaysia’s Facebook page. The game, in which one can enlist the help of friends to take one further also features Pit Stops, where three challenging questions have to be answered correctly.

Taking on challenges at the Nurburgring with Castrol EDGE

Last year, Khairul Izwan was among very few lucky motoring enthusiasts who got the chance to experience the Nurburgring, or also known as the “Green Hell” with a BMW M3 which pumps out 414 hp and 400 Nm of torque from its 4.0 litre V8 power house. “Awesome” was an understatement when Khairul shared his ultimate driving experience.

This year, Castrol Malaysia is bringing back the Castrol EDGE Experience Nurburgring: The Sequel, in which one “strong” Malaysian will be flown to the legendary track in an all-expense-paid driving experience of a lifetime. Before that happens, let’s take a moment and talk about the challenges of driving a powerful piece of machine such as the BMW M3 at one of the world’s most demanding tracks.

The 22.8 kilometer-long Nurburgring is widely considered as the most challenging track in the world with up to 160 corners. The track is used for both motorsport and for vehicle testing by many vehicle manufacturers. These car manufacturers rely on the track’s various characteristics which include high speed straights and turns, slow to medium speed corners and undulations to test the driveability of their cars.

Due to the high G-forces and the extreme pressures exerted to various parts of the car such as the suspension, the transmission and most critically the engine, driving at the Nurburgring takes a huge toll on the car and on the driver as well. Compared to other tracks, the Nurburgring has more and longer straights for one to negotiate. At such straight sections of the track, the car will be spending a lot of time at its top speed, with the driver’s foot on the accelerator pedal as though his or her life is dependent on it

This means that during this time, the engine, which in this case is a 4.0 liter V8 will be working at its rev limits for a longer time. Imagine driving an M3 at up to 8,000 revs for approximately 30 seconds? You can hear the beautiful engine note as the engine is working very hard to deliver all of its horsepower to the rear wheels! (minus the transmission loss of course).

In such gruelling conditions, the choice of engine oil is crucial, whereby the oil acts as a lubricant for the moving parts of the engine. At such extreme engine speeds, the engine is running at high temperature and the oil has to continuously adapt and respond to the engine’s needs.

The BMW M3 which was used at the Nurburgring last year had Castrol EDGE in its engine, allowing the engine to consistently maintain its reliability and maximise performance. Certain parts of the engine such as the cam and its followers can receive pressure of up to 10,000 kilograms per square cm and that is equivalent to the pressure of being approximately 100,000 meters below sea level!

If you’re a big fan of two-wheelers, then you’ll know the Ducati Monster 795 to be one pretty impressive bike. So, if you fancy the chance of riding one off for free, then you’ll be chuffed to hear that RHB Bank is putting no less than three of these 87 hp Monsters up for grabs.

There’s only one way to win one, and that’s through the RHB Now Racer game, which can be played via the Internet or through a mobile device. In the game, which runs until March 14, participants will take on the role of a RHB Now’s Avatar riding a legendary Ducati bike

The objective of the game is to manoeuvre along one of eight racing tracks that are unlocked weekly, meticulously dodging and jumping over various obstacles – such as sticky tar on the road and giant spikes – along the way. Car Clubs to battle each other out at the Castrol EDGE Experience Nurburgring: The Sequel Car Club Contest!

Similar to the first Castrol EDGE Experience Nurburgring challenge Castrol Malaysia organised last year, the Castrol EDGE Experience Nurburgring: The Sequel will see the participation of local car clubs in a car club-specific contest of the challenge yet again.

The driver of the campaign is the new and improved Castrol EDGE which is now engineered with Titanium Fluid Strength Technology™ which makes it the strongest and most advanced performance oil from Castrol. The all-new EDGE is able to adapt to different requirements needed by the engine, including the immense pressures of pedal-to-the-metal driving at the Nurburgring!

Auto Bavaria Sg. Besi teams up with Leica for a special event this weekend!

Something special will be going on this weekend at the Auto Bavaria Sg. Besi branch! Leica, the famous German optics company that has been established since 1913 will be teaming up with the BMW authorized dealer for a unique showroom experience.

The event which is open to public will showcase a special Leica studio whereby visitors can get their photographs taken with a BMW, and get it printed on the spot. These photographs will be taken with Leica’s top of the line cameras which can cost approximately RM120,000.

Not only that, there will also be special promotions for selected BMW models, for both new and pre-registered units in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations. Another interesting thing to note is that the latest 520i and 528i M Sport models will be on display and available for test drive as well.

Castrol has launched the ‘Hunt for the Strongest’ mobile app game as the second stage of its Castrol EDGE ‘Experience the Strongest’ campaign. Contestants will have to push themselves to the limit for a chance to win the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to Poland next year to watch EURO 2012 live.

The ‘Experience the Strongest’ consumer campaign rolled out in early October 2011 through an innovative multi-platform campaign designed to inspire confidence in Malaysians to find their own strength and be the strongest they can be.

The campaign is driven by the new and improved Castrol EDGE, now engineered with Titanium Fluid Strength Technology, making it the strongest and most advanced performance oil yet from Castrol. Proven to be up to 40% stronger than a leading competitor and stronger for up to 35% longer, the new Castrol EDGE is able to withstand immense pressures of up to 10,000 kg per square cm, equivalent to the pressure exerted by two elephants standing on top of a stiletto!

“The second stage of the ‘Experience the Strongest’ campaign, called ‘Hunt for the Strongest,’ is a unique first-of-its-kind location-based mobile app game utilising Augmented Reality technology that will see cities in Malaysia being turned into a living virtual board game,” said Mark Ng, marketing director of Castrol Malaysia & Singapore.

“The hunt is a cat and mouse experience where contestants will have to locate, track, run, chase and collect their way to success. The game, which will run for three weeks, will surely test the mental and physical strength of the contestants,” he added.

The ‘Hunt for the Strongest’ location-based mobile app game requires contestants to download the application onto their smartphones and seek out the ‘missing’ Titanium Fluid Strength Technology Elements scattered around Malaysia.

Contestants will start out as the ‘hunter’ for the missing Elements, which will sporadically appear at different locations around Malaysia. However, upon capturing it, they immediately become the ‘hunted’ as they run from the other hunters trying to steal the Elements. If they manage to outrun the other hunters after a period of 15 minutes, the Titanium Fluid Strength Technology Element will be stored as permanent Strength points.

To prevent the other hunters from snatching the Elements away within the 15-minute time period, one can actually locate any new Castrol EDGE engineered with Titanium Fluid Strength Technology pack and scan the pack barcode – doing so automatically confirms the capture of the Element immediately and instantly stores it as permanent Strength points. You can check Castrol’s Facebook page wall from time to time for updates, hints and clues.

The contest runs from November 10 until December 4. At the end of the three-week period, those with the most number of Strength points will be rewarded handsomely. Over 100 prizes are up for grabs, including a Sony Bravia 40-inch LED TV with Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre System, iPad 2, Microsoft Xbox Kinect, Macbook Air laptop, iPod Nano, shopping vouchers, Castrol EDGE oils and of course, the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to catch EURO 2012 in Poland next year.
