MINI Dragster - The World’s Fastest MINI

minidragster.jpg

This is the world’s fastest MINI Cooper, a machine built by MINI USA and Fireball Tim Drag Racing. It isn’t just a wild claim though, it actually holds the actual official title for “World’s fastest MINI”. It’s body is made out of 100% carbon fibre, equipped with a John Cooper Works bodykit. The engine is twin-charged, resulting in a good 500 horsepower which is alot for the 772kg car. More photos after the jump.

Mugen Fit Spec D Prototype

mugenfitspecd.jpg

I’m pretty impressed by the elegant not too loud bodykit that Mugen has put on the Honda Fit. It looks really great in it’s orange colour too, but what really makes the Mugen Fit Spec D special compared to the other kitted up Honda Fits (Honda Jazz in our markets) out there?

Project NEF - Lotus 3.0 liter supercharged V6

apx_engine_left.jpgThe Project NEF engine aims to produce a high performance prototype engine without the need to resort to exotic materials or manufacturing technology, ensuring the transition from prototype to production with ease and speed. It was designed and developed by Lotus Engineering’s powertrain division.

The first in the engine family is the 3.0 liter supercharged DOHC 75 degree V6 engine found in the new Lotus APX prototype. The supercharged 3.0 liter V6 makes 300hp at 6250rpm and 360Nm of torque at 4500rpm. 80% of that 360Nm of torque (288Nm) is available from as low as 1500rpm. Acceleration should be very good. Pretty impressive stuff.

Other family models include a 2.2 liter and 3.0 liter normally aspirated versions, which compliment this supercharged one. They are all production feasible, but not planned for production, unless of course there is a customer who wants to buy it. Perhaps Proton would be one of the potential customers? Makes sense seriously.

The narrow 75 degree angle makes the engine compact. It also gives the engine better vibration characteristics, removing the need for a balance shaft and the extra cost and weight that comes with it. The engine is controlled by a 32-bit ECU capable of 200 million calculations a second.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Un-pimp Your Ride

small_golf_gti.jpgThese are hilarious. A statement against riced-up “ah beng” pimped rides, and promoting the new Volkswagen Golf GTI in the USA at the same time. Thanks to cbljkkj for the pointer.

I’m trying out hosting the Flash videos myself instead of using Google Video or Youtube this time, so hopefully you can play these videos without any lag. Please leave some feedback on the streaming speed if possible. Videos are after the jump. There are 3 videos. Enjoy!

Pontiac Solstice Wagon Concept

edagsolstice1.jpg

I’m sure most of you remember the company EDAG Engineering + Design AG , which made the green EDAG Show Car No. 8 which I blogged about back in September last year based on the Smart Roadster.

EDAG has done it again with the Pontiac Solstice Wagon Concept, turning a hot roadster body into a shooting brake and even giving it a hard top for those who don’t really like soft tops.
