Lotus will be unveiling this concept car called the Lotus APX Concept at the 2006 Geneva Auto Salon. The APX is built using Lotus’s Versatile Vehicle Architecture (VVA) and is powered by a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine making 300 horsepower.

The Lotus APX (stands for Aluminium Performance Crossover) has an all-aluminium monocoque structure and follows true to Lotus’s “Performance through Light Weight” core brand value. The APX’s power to weight ratio is about 190 horsepower per tonne.

Perhaps Proton might use this for an MPV model. Thanks to Nahar for the pointer!

New BMW X6 computer rendering

Here’s the latest computer graphic imagery of the BMW X6. Can see that it’s gained a “Bangle butt”, a common design characteristic of all the new Chris Bangle designed BMWs. The BMW X6 is supposed to be a cross-over SUV and coupe type of vehicle. The chassis itself has already been through testing stages at Germany’s Nurburgring.

Honda Civic Hybrid Modulo Concept

This is a pretty cool Modulo bodykit concept for the Honda Civic Hybrid. I’m falling in love with the 2006 Honda Civic more and more. Probably because it’s such a big improvement over the previous generation Civic with the strange back lights. The EK and EG were real sexy too. But let’s not talk about that. Let’s have a look at this Civic Hybrid Modulo Concept

Eliica, the 600kW electric sports car

A team of engineers at Keio University led by Professor Hiroshi Shimizu has developed this 8-wheeled electric car called the Eliica. Eliica stands for ‘Electric Lithium-Ion battery Car’ and it has some pretty impressive performance statistics.

With 600kW of power on tap, 0-100km/h only takes 4 seconds and 0-160km/h takes 7 seconds - this means it’s acceleration times are faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo. During a test on the Nardo high-speed test track in Italy, the Eliica managed to record a top speed of 370km/h, though theoretically it could touch 400km/h on smoother roads. What makes this car excellent on windy tracks is it runs on a single gear, so acceleration is very linear.

The Eliica is more than 5 meters long, shaped like a bullet and stores it’s batteries and motors low in the chassis, creating a low centre of gravity. It is also low for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, which means headroom is limited. No one taller than 178cm can fit in the car which rules me out since I’m about 181cm.
