Heico Volvo C70

heico_c70_1.jpg

More Volvo tuning goodness for you! This is Heico’s Volvo C70 II, one of the two Volvo C70 convertibles that Heico has kitted up. The Heico kit is a full tune-up kit, not just interior and exterior enhancements but also performance enhancements that affect the engine, suspension and brakes.

There are a few performance parts which you can opt to install from Heico. Let me break down the options one by one. Engine upgrades include a Heico Sportiv ECU upgrade T5 which boosts power from 220hp to 250hp and torque from 320Nm to 360Nm. 0-100km/h acceleration goes from 7.6 seconds to 7.2 seconds.

Other upgrades include performance air filters, and a special Heico LSD differential. Exhaust system upgrades come in either twin tailpipe or 4 tailpipe versions. Sports springs are available for suspension upgrades. Brakes can be upgraded to 4-piston caliper brakes. There are a few wheel choices available, but in this photo set the car adorns Heico Sportiv Volution V wheels. Don’t ask me why it’s spelled Volution instead of Evolution.

As for exterior bodykits, you have front lips and a special cornering light upgrade. This cornering light upgrade swivels your fog lamps to the left or right when you are making a turn. Then of course, to get the full Heico experience on the inside, you have Heico gear knobs, hand brake handles, aluminium foot pedals and leather interior trim.

Two more photos and ECU upgrade power/torque curve after the jump.

Heico HS4 Odin Concept based on Volvo S40

heico_hs4_odin_1.jpg

Since the previous posting on a few concept versions of the Volvo C30 by tuners got some pretty positive feedback, I’ve decided to showcase a few tune-up concepts by Volvo tuners. This is Heico Sportiv’s Heico HS4 Odin Concept car, based on the new Volvo S40. Heico created this blue beast to show at the 2005 Essen Motor Show, slapping on some nice bodykits as well as tuning up the car’s 2.5 liter turbocharged T5 powerplant. More details after the jump.

The Volvo C30 by ipd

A trio of tuners will be exhibiting custom concept modifications of the new Volvo C30 hatchback at the 2006 North American International Auto Show this November 2006.

The first tuner is ipd, whose ipd Volvo C30 concept shown above is painted with a Swedish flag theme of blue and yellow. The ipd Volvo C30 concept has an intercooled supercharger which boosts power up to 400 horses, with improved handling by a fully adjustable coil-over suspension system and better braking with larger diameter disc brakes. The ipd C30’s in-car entertainment system is equipped with products by Alpine and Apple.

The other two tuners are HEICO SPORTIV and EVOLVE. Check out their renditions of the Volvo C30 after the post jump.

Volvo XC90 PUV V8 Concept

xc90puv_1.jpg

The Volvo XC90 PUV was a concept introduced back in 2004 at the Paris International Auto Show to showcase it’s newly launched V8 engine. Volvo’s 4.4 liter V8 engine was developed to go against BMW’s X5 4.4 liter V8 engine, BMW’s upmarket high trim luxury SUV. It is a normally aspirated engine making 331 horsepower at 5850rpm and 325Nm of torque at 3900rpm. However this Volvo XC90 PUV concept has a slightly tweaked version under the hood. Let’s have a look.

NAP After-Effects: Volvo slashes prices up to 7%

small_volvo.jpgVolvo Cars Malaysia has announced price reductions of up to 7% for Volvo cars in Malaysia. This translates to price cuts of between RM10,000 to Rm20,000. The Volvo XC90 SUV’s price will not be hiked, even though under the new National Automotive Policy’s tax structure it was expected that most SUV and MPV vehicles will end up with higher price tags. These new prices are to be applied to existing stocks, so you can enjoy the new prices immediately once you step into any Volvo showroom.

Volvo will also be looking into exporting Volvo cars assembled in it’s Shah Alam plant, which was set up back in 1967. This makes Volvo likely the first premium car manufacturer to have set up an assembly plant here.

2007 Volvo XC50 in development

You have to give it to the boys at Volvo. They’ve turned the marque from making boring boxy cars to sweet Swedish beauties. I’ve always considered the XC90 to be one of the nicest looking SUVs around. Volvo also has a cult following, comprised mainly of owners who value safety and the little thoughtful considerations which Volvo cars have that make your daily commuting alot more comfortable.

Volvo is now developing an XC50 cross-over small SUV to compete with the likes of the BMW X3 and it’s own sister Land Rover Freelander. This is the third member of the Volvo Cross Country (XC) lineup since the XC70 and the XC90. The Volvo XC50 will be built on the C1+ platform which is also used by the Land Rover Freelander.

Expect the 2007 Volvo XC50 to debut in mid-2006.
