Lamborghini produced this short film for the unveiling of the limited edition Reventon Roadster at the Frankfurt show in 2009. How limited is limited you ask? Only twenty, and cars that can be purchased by owners will be less than that. According to the film, you’re more likely to be hit by a meteorite than get a chance to own one of these babies.

Each Lamborghini Reventon Roadster will be sold for 1.1 million euros (and this is without taxes, even in Europe). It’s available exclusively in a shade of matte grey called Reventon Grey. Deliveries will begin October 2009.

The weight penalty for not having a roof and requiring additional chassis reinforcements is minimal – only 25kg heavier. This is because the original chassis was already very stiff. 0 to 100km/h takes just 3.4 seconds thanks to its 6.5 liter high compression V12 making 670 PS and 660Nm of torque.

I’ve got two different versions of the video after the jump. They’re essentially the same but one is regular resolution while the other is in 720hp HD for those with better internet connections. Enjoy!

Here are the full details of the rear wheel drive Gallardo we saw earlier this week. The new rear wheel drive version of the Gallardo will be limited to 250 units only, and has been christened the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. Now you probably get what LP 550-2 means – 550 PS and 2 driven wheels, but what about the VB?

Valentino Balboni is actually a test driver who has helped shape many legends such as the Lamborghini Miura from the 60s to the current Gallardo and Murcielago. He was hired personally by Lamborghini’s founder in 1967 but he is retired now after 40 years with Lamborghini. Feedback from Balboni guides Lamborghini engineers to finetune their car to become a car with qualities that Balboni refers to as “the precision of a race car with the reliability of a good friend”.

The LP550-2 is not a mere regular Gallardo with the all-wheel drive system removed. The car now weighs 1,380kg dry and goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds, thanks to its 550 PS 5.2 liter V10. Various settings like springs, dampers, stabilisers, aerodynamics and even the tyres had to be modified for rear wheel drive. The 45% LSD rear axle was also redeveloped, and the e-gear automated manual transmission has also been recalibrated. The ESP’s CORSA (race) program now permits greater drift angles, something that you really must have with rear wheel drive!

Look after the jump for the previously showcased 4 photos.

These are supposed to be the first photos of a new rear wheel drive version of the Gallardo, aptly called the LP550-2. And just like the name suggests, the 550 indicates the engine has been tuned to make 10 horses less than the 5.2 liter V10 motor in the LP560-4. More details will come later but the initial word is that it will be about 10% cheaper and be lighter by 30kg thanks to the absence of all-wheel drive hardware.

Rumor has it that Italian sports car maker has decided to discontinue its plans to produce the Estoque, which is 4-door super sedan project, and we not sure if its a permanent shut down or a temporary one. Just like many other axed projects, the speculated shut down of the production Estoque project is linked to the uncertain world economy, leaving the sports car maker to concentrate on both the Gallardo and Murcielago models.

Apparently, Lamborghini also revealed that it will continue to use its e-gear automated manual transmission, instead of switching to a dual clutch setup, and that its customers prefer the “gutsy” e-gear transmission over a “smoother” dual clutch transmission. We will update you as soon as we get a confirmation from the auto maker itself. Meanwhile please click here to learn more about the Lamborghini Estoque.

Italian-based sports car maker Lamborghini has released the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce at the Geneva Motor Show which is actually a more powerful, and lighter Murcielago. With 670HP and 660Nm of torque produced by its 6.5 liter V12 power plant, and with an overall weight that is 100 kilograms lighter than the Murcielago LP 640, it does not seem difficult for the LP 640-4 SuperVeloce to take the credit.

With certain design cues carried over from the Reventon, this all wheel drive super car with a two-level diffuser and a fixed carbon fiber rear wing looks the part as well. Other features include a lifting system which enables the front end of the car to be raised by 45 mm to ease garage entries, Carbon Ceramic (CCB) brakes with ABS and more. Read our related previous post for more on the new LP670-4 SV.

Bologna-based sports car maker; Lamborghini has released the more powerful and lighter Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. As the name suggests, this latest Murcielago features a 670HP 60 degrees, longitudinally mounted 6.5 liter V12 power plant (dry sump lubrication) with 660Nm of torque that is able to catapult the “bull” to the 100 km/h mark in 3.2 seconds and to a top speed of 342 km/h. The power plant with 12 cylinders, 48 valves and 8,000 eagerly awaiting revs is coupled with a 6 speed manual transmission.

Power is transmitted to all four wheel via Lamborghini’s permanent all wheel drive system to ensure effective traction and subsequently, excellent handling. The Murcielago is fitted with a double wishbone suspension system all round, with a lifting system that enables the front end of the car to be raised by 45 mm to ease garage entries and so on. Stopping power is provided by Carbon Ceramic (CCB) brakes with ABS.

These high performance brakes are nestled behind exclusive “Ares” alloy-forged wheels, bearing the exclusive five twin-spoke design and wrapped with high-grip Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. The Italian sports car maker has also added a new exhaust system that, apart from the obvious help in terms of performance, it also offers a beautiful acoustic experience.

On the inside, Alcantara and carbon fiber make up most of the interior which is finished in, among others; light weight bucket seats as well as light weight cockpit and roof lining. Offered in a number of body colours including; Giallo Orion, Arancio Atlas, Bianco Isis, Grigio Telesto and Nero Aldebaran (with matt white and matt black offered as an option), the exterior is treated to a slightly modified front end with a matt black finish as well as slightly larger air intakes. The lower end of the side features air scoops for the oil cooler which are also finished in matt black.

The rear end is mostly taken up by a single flat and extremely wide exhaust tailpipe, a two-level diffuser system finished entirely in carbon fiber and a transparent engine cover. A larger, fixed carbon fiber wing mounted on two carbon-fiber brackets which help offer better aerodynamic grip at high speeds is also available as an option. Overall, the light weight construction utilized on the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce accounts for 100 kilograms in terms weight savings, over Murciélago LP 640.

Italian based sports car maker; Lamborghini has recently revealed that it will launch the Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster in Geneva, but with just a couple of days away from the actual launch, images of the new roadster have been leaked onto the Internet.

Details are scarce though, but we do know that the Lamborghini LP650-4 Roadster features an all wheel drive system, which is coupled with an up-rated 6.5 liter V12 and an e-gear automatic 6 speed transmission. Horse power figure is expected to hover at about 650 in total.

Apparently, only 50 units will ever be produced and it is expected to carry a price tag of about 550,000 Euros each. Other than a transparent engine bonnet and a carbon engine frame, it features a rear view camera and a navigation system. On the outside, it is treated to a unique body colour finish as well as Hermera shiny black wheels. Continue reading to view another image of the rear.

The sexy Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 goes topless with this new Spyder edition, which takes the drop top Gallardo up from the old 519 PS engine to the new LP560-4’s 5.2 liter V10 producing 560 horsepower and 540Nm of torque sent to all four-wheels. Other numeric improvements are found in the time it takes to swap cogs, which is now 40% faster in the Corsa mode of the E-Gear single clutch automated transmission. The time it takes to open the soft top remains the same at about 20 seconds. Will Clarkson plonk down some cash for one to replace his 2006 Gallardo Spyder?

A few more details on the upcoming production version of the Lamborghini Estoque, which is expected to hit the showrooms by end-2011.

Autocar UK has a few more details on the upcoming production version of the Lamborghini Estoque, which is expected to hit the showrooms by end-2011.

Apparently one of the engine choices available will be a re-tuned 5.2 liter direct injection normally aspirated V10 engine with 500 PS and 610Nm of torque. I’m not sure how they’re going to manage such an impressive torque to displacement ratio – even about 560Nm for a 5.2 liter engine would be impressive, but I think quite achievable.

The engine currently makes 560 PS and 540Nm in the LP560-4 and I think the whole idea is to increase torque over a wider rev range but produce less power at a lower peak RPM. An example of cars with a rather high normally aspirated torque to displacement ratio is the E46 M3 CSL with 365Nm from its 3.2 liter S54B32 engine, and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with 435Nm from a 3.8L engine, which are coincedentally both about 114Nm per liter. 610Nm from a 5.2 would be 117.3Nm per liter! If Lamborghini manages to achieve 114Nm per liter it would mean about 593Nm of torque.

Some other powertrains are also being considered, including… surprise, surprise… a diesel powertrain! Lamborghini’s R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani says fans need not worry as diesels will never find their way into Lamborghini’s supercars, but the Estoque represents an opportunity to develop a turbodiesel engine or even a turbocharged petrol engine for the car as it would suit the car’s driving pattern, plus Lamborghini needs to improve its fleet’s CO2 figures. Thus, a twin turbo petrol V8 or a turbodiesel V8 is possible, as are mild hybrid systems.

Reggiani also revealed that the Estoque is based on an all-new platform (and not based on the Audi A8 as some have speculated) with components sourced from the Gallardo and other areas in the Volkswagen parts bin, which indicates some form of parts sharing with the A8, but not the platform itself.

Lamborghini has just released an official press release and hi-res photos of the Lamborghini Estoque. Interestingly, Lamborghini makes no attempts to call the Estoque a 4-door coupe, instead it refers to it as a 4-door 4-seater super sedan.

It’s quite a large monster, measuring 5150mm long, 1990mm wide and 1350mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3010mm. The wheels are 22 inch five double-spoke alloys at the front and 23 inchers at the rear. The boot is said to be able to store a few golf bags.

No photos of the interior have been revealed but Lamborghini says it fits 4 comfortably despite the low stance thanks to a relaxed seating position. The interior is done up in the highest quality Nappa leather, and the driver gets to enjoy a large LCD display showing vehicle and route information. This LCD can show information in either analog with virtual circular meter dials or digital form.

Mounted at the front behind the front axle for optimum weight distribution is a range of engines, one of which will be the V10 from the Lamborghini LP560-4. The 5.2 liter direct injection normally aspirated V10 produces 552 horsepower and 540Nm of torque.

Lamborghini says that this will not be the sole engine option. A turbocharged V8 derived from the V10 is one alternative, while a “greener” option could either be a V8 with a mild hybrid motor or a high-performance TDI turbodiesel that can be easily obtained from the Audi and Volkswagen engine stables.

Look after the jump for a hi-res gallery and a video.

Fully undisguised images of the 4-door Lamborghini Estoque have been leaked out on the internet! The roofline doesn’t look particularly attractive, with the cab looking like a stretched version of a traditional Lamborghini. The rear has hints of a muscle car in it. There are no door handles to be seen so I wonder how the owner gets in! No photos of the interior yet, so expect another post with the full hi-res images and details coming up soon. For the moment, look after the jump for the rest of the images.

Lamborghini has released a fourth teaser image of the upcoming Lamborghini Estoque front-engined four-door coupe. They show front projector headlamps that share the sharp angular design language that the rest of the car has shown. Together with the sketches, I bet most people can already imagine how it will end up looking like in their heads. It will be revealed in the metal at the 2008 Paris Motor Show this week.

A sketch of what appears to be the four door Lamborghini set to be unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show has found itself onto the big wide internet right into the hands of curious automotive enthusiasts.

The sketch does not 100% match the teasers of the actual concept set to be revealed though – the rear tailpipes are different. This could be an early sketch, with the actual concept getting a revision to appear much more meaner in the metal.

The name Lamborghini Estoque has been confirmed to be correct and the Paris concept will be very close to the production “four-door coupe”. The car’s engine will be mounted at the front behind the front axle for better weight distribution and it will have permanent all-wheel drive.

Read the related post for the teaser images and more details.

“Es Toque” is actually a small sword used in a bull-fight. Toque means touch in Spanish and it means something like a “finishing touch” as it is the sword used to deliver a killing blow.

Will the Lamborghini Estoque deliver the killing blow to its competitors?

Initial details reveal that the new car will have its engine installed at the front, behind the front axle for good weight distribution. It will have all-wheel drive.

The mysterious new Lamborghini concept car set to be unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show has been unveiled and it turns out some of you who were commenting in the previous post got it spot on – a front-engined four-door coupe!

Yes, even Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is not spared from the four-door coupe craze and is it really is surprise, given that it is owned by Audi (which is planning the Audi A7), which is in turn owned by Volkswagen (which came up with the Passat CC), which is in turn has its share majority held by Porsche (currently sells the Cayenne SUV and soon the Porsche Panamera).

One clue that pointed to a four door coupe when the teaser images were revealed last week was the large amount of space between the front wheels and the door. Initial details reveal that the new car will have its engine installed at the front, behind the front axle for good weight distribution. It will have all-wheel drive.

The engine is likely to be a more tractable twin turbocharged V8 or V10 instead of a manic high revving normally aspirated engine as the former will offer more usable power during relatively sedate driving, is likely to be more refined and thus more suited to this kind of application. For a better power to weight ratio, the chassis might be all-aluminium according to Lamborghini sources.

The Paris show concept will preview a production version which will be showcased in the future. Lamborghini targets 3,000 units a year, a far cry from Porsche’s 20,000 unit annual target for the Porsche Panamera.

A rich Arab man rumoured to be a Sheikh spent roughly £23,552 (RM152,475) to service his £190,000 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Out of that amount, only £3,552 was for the actual service – the remainder was freight costs to fly his supercar all the way from Qatar to a specialist mechanic in London, a distance of over 10,000km.

It’s really quite amazing what the rich do. You could buy an Audi A4 in the UK for £20,000. Would have been a much better idea to fly the mechanics down to perform the necessary service? It supposedly wasn’t a major service, just routine.

Perhaps the LP640 requires special tools for servicing, tools that cannot be flown over or cost as much to transport as flying the car over. Perhaps the Sheikh did not really think, or just wanted the bragging rights. Who knows. I wonder what the other supercar owners in the Middle East do in this situation.

I had to think long and hard before posting this story, just in case we hear later of a certain state government sending their fleet of E-Class to Germany for an oil change because they somehow managed to calculate that it is cheaper than servicing locally.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 has been priced in the UK, and to own it you’ll have to pay a sum of UK£147,330.00. The LP560-4 will replace the original Gallardo Coupe. In case you’re wondering what LP560-4 stands for – LP means Longitudinale Posteriore which refers to its engine position, the 560 refers to its 560 PS power output, and the 4 refers to Viscous Traction permanent four-wheel drive.

0 to 100km/h takes 3.7 seconds, and the car’s power to weight ratio is greater than the original Gallardo as it has 40 more horsepower yet is 20kg lighter. The engine is a 5.2 liter V10 featuring direct injection for a high compression ratio of 12.5:1 and peak horsepower is achieved at a high 8,000rpm, while peak torque of 540Nm (higher than 100Nm per liter) is reached at 6,500rpm.

Lamborghini has released a promotional clip for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, a 5.2 liter V10-powered supercar that puts 560 PS to all four wheels. It has quite a touch of humour inserted into it really, you’ll know what I mean when you watch it. The only disappointing thing is the sound of the actual car isn’t there, replaced instead by funky background music. View the video after the jump.

Apparently there has been some criticism on how modern Lamborghinis have become no more than Audis on steroids (especially with the introduction of the Audi R8), so president Stephen Winkelmann has announced a new policy that future common parts with the rest of the Volkswagen/Audi bin will not exceed more than 20%.

The 20% will include things like electrics, hoses, filters, and other more “hidden” components which will not affect Lamborghini’s “DNA” as perceived by enthusiasts.

In the same interview Winkelmann also confirmed two more versions of the Lamborghini Gallardo – a rear-wheel drive version and another track-focused barebones lightweight version like the Superleggera (shown above). The current Gallardo uses a rear-biased all-wheel drive system.

This is the Lamborghini Embolado Concept, designed by Italian design student Luca Serafini. Serafini dreams to work at Lamborghini, and he created the Embolado Concept with the same dimensions as a Gallardo.

For those who are wondering what Embolado means exactly, it comes from the Spanish festival Toro Embolado which means bull in balls – an event where balls of flammable material are attached to a bull’s horns and lit on fire. This bull is then set free in the streets at night.

The Embolado Concept features a cab forward-ish design that is not very common in the world of supercars, having only appeared on the Pagani Zonda in recent years – any others you can recall?

The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 barely needs anymore tuning, so this package is what Hamann calls an Appearance Package. It’s basically aerodynamically tuned bodykit parts – a two-part front spoiler, two-part rear diffuser, roof-mounted air intake, side sills, side intake covers and a rear wing. These components can either be made of Carbon-Kevlar or fiberglass.

Wheels are sized 8.5×20 in the front and 13.0×20 in the rear. Interior touch-ups include an eight-piece carbon fiber design kit that replaces the paneling around the instrument cluster, air bleed jet, gearshift panel, and ashtray console.

The single large exhaust pipe design is thrown away in favor for some really ricey-looking huge diameter twin oval pipes. The sound that emits from these twin exhausts have been tuned to sound more brutal than the stock system, and also comes with a new high flow catalytic converter.

This is purported to be the purest and sportiest Lamborghini Gallardo ever. Lamborghini’s Gallardo Superleggera was presented at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. It features an extra 10hp of power, which is not much, however the supercar sheds 100kg of weight, giving it a weight to power ratio of 2.5kg/hp, making it one of the top lightweights in its class.

Powered by a 5.0 liter V10 making 530hp at 8,000rpm, acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h takes only 3.8 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the normal Gallardo. Shifting is via a robotized e-gear gearbox, with paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera weighs 1,330kg, thanks to usage of advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of carbon fibre and transparent polycarbonate, ensuring the 5.0 liter V10 is visible in full glory. Wheels are new Scorpius forged rims wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. In the interior, you sit in monocoque carbon fibre sports seats covered in Alcantara, with a suede-covered steering wheel.

It is available in 4 colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Shown in this post is Telesto Gray. There’s also options for a multimedia system with GPS and CD changer, a rear parking video camera, Carbon fibre trim for the interior, a fixed rear spoiler, a 4-point seatbelt, and carbon ceramic brakes.
