Proton Sassy - Tiara Replacement Model (Now Renamed to Savvy)

Sassy is the destined name for the new Tiara Replacement Model by Proton. Proton spokespeople gave this name which means “stylish” or “bergaya” as the Proton spokesperson said.

The Proton Sassy or Tiara Replacement Model should be due very soon with the newspaper ads appearing much more frequently and booking forms available on Proton Edar’s website. I don’t have any launch dates at the moment but I will update as soon as I get hold of the information.

I wonder if they got the name from the Korean show My Sassy Girl :P

Anyway here’s a shot of a clay model for a Proton dashboard. I wonder if it will be used in the Proton Sassy.

Looks like the sporty Lotus-type of look is still there. The Audi rip-off steering is still there. I don’t really like that colour which is supposed to give a luxury feel. This is a 1.2 liter small car. Somehow it doesn’t really suit the exterior image.

So guys, who are you rooting for? The Proton Sassy or the Perodua Myvi?

UPDATE: I have received information that Proton has renamed the Sassy to Proton Savvy. More about it here.

For more photos of the car, you can check out the previous posts I’ve made below.

Perodua Myvi Engine Bay

Two days more to the Perodua Myvi launch! Is everyone excited? :P Here are some more photos of the Myvi, this time of the engine bay.

Here are photos of the Perodua Myvi 1.3’s engine bay. You can look at the K3-VE engine sitting in there, waiting to be started up and driven.

The air filter box says 1.3 16V Twin Cam.

The air intake sucks air from the left side of the engine bay. Actually the engine bay looks pretty cramped. I wonder if there’s space to put open pod air filters.

From the above photo and this photo, you can see the extractor seems covered with some heatshield material. Probably because it was a hot day in Sepang?

This is a cross section of the K3-VE engine for people to see the pistons inside and etcetra. If you look at the top part, you can see there’s two camshafts because it’s a DOHC engine.

Tiara Replacement Model Ads in Newspapers

Proton has started to run the Tiara Replacement Model advertisements in daily newspapers. It shows an aunty peeking into a red Tiara Replacement Model partially covered with a grey cloth. The car has sports rims with 14 spokes, something like Advanti Racing Stilettos. The shape really looks good and it’s definitely the shape of the Tiara Replacement Model.

The aunty says “Walaauueh!!! It’s a good thing my son didn’t pay the deposit for the other car.

The other car? Definitely a cheap shot at Perodua! :P

The bottom of the ad says:

You won’t regret waiting for the new Proton. For booking enquiries, visit your nearest Proton showroom or call 1 300 880 888.

Strongest body in its class, fastest in its category, Lotus-Inspired Engineering, Spacious interior“.

Update: Here’s the ad.

Perodua Myvi Interior

As promised, here are more photos of the Perodua Myvi for your viewing pleasure. These are shots of the interior, which looks alot like the original Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon version.

You can click the photos for a larger version.

The dashboard looks pretty standard Perodua stuff to me. There’s a glove box unlike some other car manufacturers who decided to omit such a feature from it’s latest car. I can’t wait to see shots of the dashboard at night. Supposed it’ll be something like Toyota’s Optitron displays. Those really look good. The 1.0 model’s dashboard meters are amber and the 1.3 models are white.

Here we can see what appears to be an integrated CD player interface like the Proton Gen2. Some people have fitted aftermarket CD players to the Gen2 using some form of adapter so that the hole can fit a double DIN CD player properly. Hopefully there will be such products for the Myvi too. There are two cupholders next to the gear shift lever.

I don’t really like the colour scheme of the steering wheel, what do you think?

There’s something wrong with the interior colour matching too. Usually people go for dual-tone colours, but apparently there’s three colours in this car. Some kind of cream/beige, dark grey and light grey. Not to forget silver for the CD player area.

The pedals look really cheap. But there’s electronic window control.

This doesn’t give you much details on how much boot capacity the Myvi has but I think there’s a sports bag in there with some other stuff.

Let’s check out the back seats shall we…

There’s not alot of space there at the back but this is expected of a car this size. There’s this feature with the Perodua Myvi’s car seats where it can be extended to make some sort of area where you can keep things.

Here’s how it works. Nothing that special really.

Here’s photos of the airbag deployed. Do not punch please! :P

That’s all for today. I’ll be back later with more photos for you guys :)

Tiara Replacement Model Available for Booking

It seems Proton’s new 1.2L Tiara Replacement Model is now available for booking on the Proton Edar website. It’s listed as Proton 1.2 M/T. No real name is mentioned. There are three colours available - Magma Red, Midnight Black and Stratosphere Blue. The booking fee is RM1000. The listed price is RM43000 to RM45000.

If you look at the pic, apparently M/T stands for Manual Transmission and A/T stands for Automatic Transmission. They’re only launching the manual model of the Tiara Replacement Model first?

Launch date is not mentioned. Just a notice that says “Launching Soon”. They’re quite arrogant now don’t you think? No photos or nothing of the Tiara Replacement Model of any indication of a proper name or launch date posted on the website and they’re already offering it up for booking. Typical Proton behaviour of going around threathening lawsuits to people who have the spyshots posted online like they had with the Proton Wira Replacement Model (Proton Gen2).

I wonder if anyone will book this without having a look at the car first. For whoever that’s interested, you can check out the booking page on Proton Edar’s website.

Looks like this will go head-on with the Perodua Myvi. I’m rooting for the Myvi, what about you?

Perodua Myvi Colours - The Myvi Rainbow

LATEST UPDATE: New Perodua Myvi facelift launched in Malaysia

Alot of people have been asking what colours are the Perodua Myvi available in so here’s some photos for you guys. These photos are from the media review and test drive track session held by Perodua at the Sepang International Circuit. So here’s the Myvi rainbow, there are 7 colours. Not the same as the colours of the rainbow of course. Your choices are Ebony Black, Klasik Gold, Glittering Silver, Mocca Silver, Ozzy Orange, Mistik Red and Olive Green.

Left: Glittering Silver, Right: Ozzy Orange

Left: Ebony Black, Right: Klasik Gold

Left: Olive Green, Right: Mocca Silver

Mistik Red, yum!

You can click the thumbnails for a bigger photo.

I personally dig the Mistik Red and Ebony Black ones… they look absolutely hot! Just imagine a black Myvi, polished nicely to a blinding shine, full side skirts and front lip, nice sports rims, coming around the corner with HID lights… absolutely delicious!

In case any of you are wondering how the Mistik Red would look like with a bodykit, like TRD’s bodykit… check this baby out. Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous?

More photos coming soon… so stay tuned! :P

Perodua Myvi Launch

Can we see the latest compact running around on roads tomorrow? Rumours are saying that the Perodua MyVI is going to launch on 25/05/2005. That’s next Wednesday people. I personally think tomorrow which is 20/05/2005 is a bit nicer. After all it’s 20052005. Hehe :P

I have friends who have already booked the car. Can’t wait to check it out! I’m not this excited with Proton cars new launches coz I know they only churn out one disaster after another. Perodua is different. They have Toyota blood in them. That makes their cars worth waiting for :P
