Proton to build RM40 million third plant

Proton Holdings Bhd might be spending another RM40 million ringgit to build another plant near it’s existing Shah Alam plant. The new plant is intended to be used as the main base for manufacturing Volkswagen’s cars.

It’s existing Shah Alam facility has a manufacturing output capacity of 230,000 cars a year while it’s Proton City in Tanjung Malim can make a million cars a year.

Does anyone know the current output of the current plants? Do they really need another one?

Rafidah to explain today

Rafidah is supposed to explain all the controversial issues regarding the AP system today. I don’t think she can skip the meeting again.

Among matters to be explained are what are the criteria of giving out APs, and why are there as many as 6 types of APS:

  • open APs
  • franchise APs
  • tuner APs
  • student APs
  • diplomatic APs
  • “Member of Parliament APs”.

Will we see another advertisement for no more tears shampoo?

Suzuki Concept X2 SUV

Suzuki used to conquer the mini SUV market with their Suzuki Vitara, before the Perodua Kembara came along. I remember getting into a Vitara once. Bloody small. Suzuki has since gone missing in the Malaysian market until the return of the CBU Suzuki Swift and Suzuki APV this year. But we’ve not yet seen any replacement for the Vitara. Some new Grand Vitaras have been running around but they’re not really making much of an impact.

Crazy Volvo 164 Modification

Everyone says the Johoreans have the most mental and crazy car modifiers in the whole of Malaysia. Here’s some proof to back up that claim. Any KL-ite or Penang-ite got anything crazier than this?

It’s a Volvo 164 I think, from the badge at the back of the car. It has a number plate to match too. A classic beauty restored, then modified like crazy.

A souped up Toyota Camry

Got a Camry? Want to kit it up? Take inspiration from this! This is Australia’s Toyota Avalon replacement based on the Toyota Camry. It’s got a supercharged V6 engine, upgraded brakes and a sportier suspension.

Looks damn orgasmic.

Audi Q5

Where the Audi A7 will go heads on with the BMW X5, Audi also has a BMW X3 competitor designed the A5.

The Audi Q5 will be more of a crossover SUV like the Mitsubishi Airtrek and the Subaru Forester based on a car platform rather than built grounds-up from an SUV platform like the Q7/Touareg/Cayenne platform.

The Q5 will be based on an Audi A4 platform and will be powered by Audi’s 2.0 T FSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.2-litre V6 units.

The Audi Q5 is due for showrooms in 2007.
