Mansory’s Panamera has 690 bhp and toy car looks

Still not fully awake? Looking at this could have the same effect as a double shot espresso! Swiss tuning company Mansory is responsible for this striking blue Porsche Panamera, which boasts power and aesthetic upgrades.

The Panamera Turbo’s 4.8-litre engine gets a 190 bhp jump from 500 bhp to make 690 bhp, while torque has been upped to 800 Nm. With this, the 4WD luxury four-door does the century sprint in four seconds and won’t stop till 328 km/h. All this power is gained from tweaked engine electronics, larger turbos and a stainless steel exhaust system. Mansory adds in turbine design 22-inch forged wheels with fat Dunlop SP SportMaxx tyres.

Outside, the new front skirt with adapted LED daytime running lights and a carbon fibre bonnet differentiate the front end. At the not so pretty back of Zuffenhausen’s limo, an enormous carbon diffuser and centrally located pipes take their place. Mansory can either tack on carbon applications to the original hydraulic rear wing or replace it with a static wing made from carbon. Aerodynamics components are made from high-strength polyurethane (PU-RIM) and Prepreg-Autoclav-Carbon, as with all Mansory kits.

The interior is customisable with all sorts of leather and wood, and one can opt for carbon, of course. We reckon not many will choose the blue and yellow scheme shown here! Gallery after the jump.

Merdad chops two doors off the Porsche Cayenne!

Always believed that Porsches should come with two doors? UK based tuning company Merdad have announced plans for a conversion kit for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and the kit in question converts the four-door SUV into a two-door “coupe”. Looks more like a three-door super sized supermini to us. Very little information is provided, so we presume access to the rear section is by pushing the front seats forward, as in coupes.

Additions will include nostril-vents on the bonnet, an aggressive grille, a revised front apron and new side skirts along with huge blacked out wheels. Under that bonnet lies a 4.8-litre V8 engine that has been modified by the tuners to produce 740 bhp. This is a phenomenal 247 bhp increase from the standard engine output, but then again tuners are only after a headline power figure with little regards to fuel consumption and emissions, unlike Porsche.

Coming up with a Photoshop dream is easier than actually making the car. Once again, there’s not much info on how this severe operation will be conducted and the procedures involved.

Ferdinand GT3 RS – a zero emissions “tuned Porsche”

You’ve probably seen pictures of the chromed out Audi R8 being plastered all over the internet. That is nothing compared to this beautiful masterpiece. Named after the legendary Porsche founder, the Ferdinand GT3 RS has nothing to do with the VW owned sportscar makers apart from the fact that it looks like a 911.

Make sure you watch the video filled with action shots of the car taking corners on a track with such precision on what I can only describe as bicycle wheels? The exterior is supposedly “painted” gold and features front spoilers that improve internal air circulation in the car.

All this weighs in at just under 99.6 kilograms and only because it doesn’t have an engine. Watch the video above to see a truly zero emissions Porsche-inspired vehicle, or head on after the jump to see more photos of this funny “vehicle”.

Cayenne gets 200 bhp boost and 911 eyes from Russians

Old or new, we’ve never been big fans of the Cayenne’s looks. Now, look what Topcar has done to the second-gen yet to be launched Cayenne. The Russian tuning firm has developed three different styling packages for the super SUV. Each model gets a 200 horsepower boost from 550 to 750 bhp and will sit on forged wheels. Other standard offerings include new side mirrors and added LED lighting.

The first of the three packages is the Cayenne Advantage 2, which has Porsche 911 headlights and includes front and rear spoiler bumpers, extended fenders, side skirts, wide door caps and a new bonnet. Only 25 of these cars will be specially built. What do you think of those classic oval headlamps on the Cayenne?

Another limited edition package would be the Vantage GTR 2 which retains the original headlights but comes with wider intakes as part of a new front bumper, front and rear fender extenders, a bonnet and side skirts which gives is said to give the “bird of prey” look. Finally, the Cayenne Vantage 2, which is almost similar but not limited edition.

The upside to Topcar’s packages are that all of the body panels will be fully manufactured from carbon kevlar and carbon fibre, a combo that’s strong and light. The cars will be showcased at the Moscow International Motor Show in August and later at the Essen Motor Show.

For now, look for a photo gallery after the jump. Lumma Design also has a pimped up new Cayenne – click here to see the CLR 550 GT.

Lumma Design is quick to work on the new Cayenne

The second-generation Porsche Cayenne is not even on sale yet, but German tuner Lumma Design has already started working on it. The styling package, named CLR 550 GT, includes a new front spoiler that has a deep drawn cup spoiler sword with added carbon applications. Kevlar and carbon are some of the materials used to fashion the sporty bonnet, which has gill-like air inlets. Even little details like the windscreen wiper cover has been elevated to reduce drag.

Aerodynamics are further improved by wing extensions while side skirts usher airflow through a specially designed channel to the rear brakes, which helps to maintain optimal operational temperature. Openings in the door fixtures further improve the cooling mechanism. Visual substance can also be found at the back thanks to things like pronounced spoilers with integrated carbon diffuser and a unique triple stainless steel pipe exhaust setup. Placed in the middle, the centre pipe is flanked by two smaller items. More carbon lies in the roof edge spoiler and the tear-off edge on the tailgate. The pimped up look is finished off with 23-inch wheels.

Lumma did not hand out any renderings of the interior, but we’re expecting a carbon fest! More images after the jump.

Switzer GT2 R911S is a 911 with 911 horsepower!

Anything Porsche can do, we can do better. This must be the mindset of Ohio-based Porsche tuner Switzer. While many are still talking about the just released Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Switzer Performance has unveiled a 911 with 911 horsepower. Called the Switzer GT2 R911S, this mad car will drop the GT2 RS, which is the most powerful street legal Porsche of all time.

The R911S is a modification of the company’s P800 GT2 package and has various track centered revisions. Using race fuel, the car delivers over 800 horses at the rear wheels. With such power on tap, driving dynamics is an issue. Thus Switzer has fitted a titanium inverted front-strut and remote-reservoir suspension engineered by the track experts at JRZ, the exact same hardware JRZ uses in the Patron GT3 Cup and Grand-Am Rolex GT series.

Fully customisable damping rates and individually selected springs will further help to fine tune each customers road and track experience, the tuner says. Switzer also offers the R911S Carbon package, a suite of lightweight carbon fibre body panels that sheds weight and lowers the car’s center of gravity “for maximum performance in advanced-level trackday and time-attack sessions.”

Do you really need so much power to have fun? Perhaps this is for wealthy rodeo riders who want to fight their car, not drive it. More images after the jump.

911 GT2 RS is the most powerful road Porsche of all time

The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been unveiled and it’s being touted as the most powerful street legal Porsche of all time. The claim is backed by a 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine boosted by two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry to produce an incredible 620 hp. With just 1,370 kilograms to pull, 0 to 100 km/h is done in 3.5 seconds while 200 km/h appears in 9.8 seconds, a shorter time than some cars’ century sprint time. If you’ve got a death wish, continue to keep the pedal to the metal and you’ll be at 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds, by when you’ll still have 30 km/h to go before reaching maximum velocity.

Compared with the “standard” GT2, power has been increased by 90 hp while weight has been reduced by 70 kg. Power to weight ratio is one horsepower to propel every 2.21 kilos into a blur. All the grunt is channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox on to the 325/30 ZR 19 rear tyres. With all that performance, how can a GT2 RS owner possibly coax out the claimed 11.9 L/100 km fuel consumption is anyone’s guess. CO2 emissions of 284 g/km is down by 5%.

With great power comes great brakes, so PCCB composite ceramic brakes are standard here. Driving dynamics are maintained by RS spring set-up, PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti-roll bars, dynamic engine mounts and PSM Porsche Stability Management.

Flared wheel arches and wide wheels give the RS a muscular stance while the use of matte black finished carbon-fibre-reinforced (CFR) components around the car adds a touch of sportiness. The light-alloy wheels with central locking are exclusive to this model while ”GT2 RS“ model designations on the doors and rear lid leaves no doubt about its identity. Aero parts include an upgraded front spoiler lip and a rear spoiler lip which is now 10 mm higher, made of CFR and as of course, finished in carbon fibre.

The sporting theme continues inside with lightweight bucket seats (in CFR plastic) and door panels. The latter is closed with door straps instead of the usual door handles for a race car feel. Most of the interior is black but the roof lining, seats, seat belts, gearshift and handbrake are red, the latter two in alcantara.

Only 500 of these monsters will be built so your 199,500 euros investment is bound to be exclusive. A fully kitted up GT2 RS can cost up to 237,578 euros.

Hi res images and a nice promo footage video is available after the jump.

Porsche recalls every single Panamera due to seatbelt issue

Porsche has revealed a seatbelt issue that affects the Panamera 4-door coupe which resulted in the recalling of every single Panamera worldwide. This means that the recalling should include the units that are here in Malaysia as well.

Apparently the front seatbelt mounts may fail if the front seats are pushed or adjusted to an extreme forward position. To date approximately 11,324 Panameras have been sold worldwide. Luckily for Porsche no injuries or deaths have been reported.

Porsche AG is currently being owned by Porsche SE which holds 51% while the remainder is being held by Volkswagen.

UPDATE: We have received confirmation that all 11,324 Panameras manufactured up to 25th February 2010 will be recalled along with units sold in Malaysia.

The Porsche 918 Spyder may go into production – 900 buyers already secured?

This is Porsche’s latest hybrid concept. Called the 918 Spyder it made its premiere early last month. This 1,409kg concept features a high-revving V8 powerhouse that makes 500 PS and two electric motors, one for each axle. Both motors can crank out 218 PS bringing combined power figure to the 718 PS mark.

It uses a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack and has Porsche’s 7-speed PDK which is responsible for gear changes. There are four driving modes ranging from Hybrid to Race Hybrid. It can also run exclusively on electric power for up to 25 kilometers in E-Drive.

It is able to hit the century mark in under 3.2 seconds and lap the Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes and 30 seconds. These are pretty impressive figures but the most interesting fact is that the Spyder can deliver an average fuel consumption of just 3 litres per 100 kilometers which is mind blowing! Now this is after all a concept vehicle and we are not sure if it will ever go into production.

There was a rumor circulating that Porsche will put the 918 Spyder onto the production lines if it can attract enough buyers to justify the production. Bloomberg has reported that 900 people have signed up for the Spyder and this looks like good news for the concept and for the people behind it.

Porsche’s development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer said in an interview, “I’m confident that we will soon reach the threshold of 1,000. We need 1,000 seriously interested people to make a sound business case.”

A similar move was employed on the Porsche Carrera GT and it eventually made it into production. If you ask me, getting another 100 people to sign up for Spyder shouldn’t be all that hard. If it gets the green (I will be surprised if it doesn’t) it should maintain the overall design and drivetrain but with some minor changes of course.
