W204 Mercedes Benz C-Class spotted in Glenmarie

W204 in Malaysia

This W204 C-Class was spotted in Glenmarie by reader Stephen near the Mercedes-Benz warehouse, which means we’ll be able to see the new C-Class on our roads soon. You can see another one somewhere in the background.

This particular model has the classic grille, but there is another sportier version of the grille with a large Mercedes-Benz badge smack in the middle. You’ll see it in the Anything you can do I can do better advertisement posted here earlier this week, on the C-Class driven by Alonso.

For now, read more on the W204 in the related links below, especially the sexy Brabus-kitted C-Class.

2008 Honda Fit / Honda Jazz production spyshots

These are supposed to be a collection of scans from both officials brochures and magazines with spyshots of the upcoming 2008 Honda Jazz, which will most likely see the light of day as the JDM Honda Fit at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show in October this year.

Some will be relieved that the new Fit doesn’t have the CR-V’s double grille like the previous artist impressions of the car, though the double grille has kind of grown on most people I know even though they too thought it was a little awkward-looking at first.

Looking through the scans, it seems that the engine for the new Honda Jazz/Honda Fit is now called an i-VTEC engine. It comes in both 1.3 liter and 1.5 liter forms, with the 1.3 liter for the G and L trim levels, and the 1.5 liter motor reserved for the Fit RS. Power output is respectable and leads me to believe this might be derivatives of the new R-series 1.8 and 2.0 liter engine family. The 1.3 liter i-VTEC engine puts out a nice 100 PS at 6,000rpm and 127Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, while the 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine makes 120 PS at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,800rpm.

At the moment it’s not very clear whether the new Jazz/Fit will have i-DSI technology or not, as i-DSI may have been integrated into this new small displacement i-VTEC family, or perhaps the i-DSI family still exists but to be used in non-JDM markets.

More scans after the jump.

Next generation Honda Accord interior spyshot

New Honda Accord Interior Image

The Mags Report has images of the new 2008 Honda Accord interior and they look like they were taken from the back seat of the car, apparently leaked from a camera carried by someone on one of the product brochure shoots.

We can see that the 2008 Honda Accord’s interior is more of an evolution rather than a revolution of the current Accord’s interior which is totally fine by me as the current Accord already has a pretty fine interior. The audio and air conditioning control area has been slimmed down and moved lower to make room for a satellite navigation screen above it.

It would be cool if we can get an Accord with sat nav here in Malaysia. If it happens, it would be the first car under RM200,000 that has a built-in GPS satellite navigation system with Malaysian and Singaporean maps straight from the factory. Otherwise the Malaysian Accord will most likely get a little cubbyhole handy for storing small items like your mobile phone in place of the LCD screen, and a slightly different audio and air conditioning panel.

Check out more interior photos at The Mags Report.

Audi A3 Cabriolet Spyshots

Audi is adding another body variant to it’s Audi A3 hatchback. The new Audi A3 cabriolet will join it’s 3-door and 5-door hatchback brothers. Other manufacturers have been coming up with C-segment hatchback convertibles like the Peugeot 307CC and even the Kia ex_cee’d, though that’s still at a concept stage now.

Kia Spectra5 on the North South Highway

p1170380.jpg

This Kia Spectra5 was spotted today traveling north from KL to Penang on the North South Highway. The Kia Spectra5 is also called the Kia Cerato in other markets, and it comes in both sedan and 5-door hatchback form.

From the looks of it, the 5-door hatchback might be making it’s way onto our local shores before the sedan. Fans of 5-door hatches will have an additional choice soon - there are not many C-segment hatches around here unlike the many B-segment hatches. As far as I can recall, we only have the Optra5 and the Ford Focus 2.0, and in a way, the Skoda Octavia, though that is technically a lift-back instead of a hatch.

Another rear shot of the Proton BLM

Here is another shot of the Proton BLM contributed by reader Barney Low, but unfortunately it doesn’t really reveal much details that we haven’t seen already in previous spyshots of the Proton BLM here on this site.

However, still seeing this car prowling the highways on tests assures us that the project is still on-going, and soon we’ll be able to look at Proton’s idea of what a successor to it’s bread and butter Proton Saga should be.

Two more Mitsubishi Lancers spotted on the road

Lancer

Reader Kevin Lee managed to snap these three photos of a group of 2007 Mitsubishi Lancers on the way to Tanjung Malim. Black and red, two sporty colours that with no doubt would be two of the most popular colours for the Lancer once it is launched here. These two units come with some form of bodykit - rear spoiler, front and rear lips, and side skirts. Like before, badging is taped up.

Look at the other two photos after the jump.

2007 Mitsubishi Lancer spotted on LDP

2007 Lancer Spyshot

[UPDATE: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has launched the new Lancer. Click here for more details on the fully imported Lancer 2.0 GT that's available in Mitsubishi showrooms now.]

Reader 280kmh managed to snap this shot of the latest Mitsubishi Lancer on the LDP highway while driving from Subang to Bangi. All of the rear badging including the Mitsubishi logo has been taped up, but one glance and you know that it is the latest Lancer because of it’s very recognisable design.

I previously blogged about how this could be the latest addition to our C-segment market earlier this month, and the next few months will be busy ones for the Malaysian car industry, with multiple non-national makes and even a new Proton lined up.

Just a short summary of the specifications that the Lancer has in overseas markets: it is powered by a new 2.0 liter engine from the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance project, a joint venture between Mitsubishi, DaimlerChrysler and Hyundai.

The new engine carries the 4B11 codename. It is a 152 horsepower 2.0 liter DOHC 16 valve engine with MIVEC variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a Sportronic(R) CVT transmission with a 6 virtual gears that can be shifted through steering wheel paddle shifters.

No official word yet on the specs that will be available in Malaysia, but there have been rumours of two fully imported CBU variants of the 2.0 liter - a standard spec and another with a higher trim level loaded with more goodies.

2008 Subaru Impreza STi compared to S-GT

impreza_comparison.jpg

CARTOP Magazine carries this illustration of the upcoming 2008 Subaru Impreza STi (the top yellow car), a more powerful version of the recently announced Impreza S-GT in Japan, the equivalent of the vanilla WRX in current S204 Impreza terms.

The bumper design has it’s wide air intakes split into three instead of having one wide one in the middle, and the fog lamps have gone missing, presumably to save some weight. Fenders are wider too probably to make way for a wider track.

The 2008 Subaru Impreza STi will be revealed to the world in flesh at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show this October.

2009 BMW 7-Series Artist’s Impression

2009 BMW 7-Series

This is an artist impression of the upcoming all-new next generation BMW 7-Series by Auto Express. It features a much less edgier design, and there are hints of the BMW 3-Series bumper design up front.

I for one am glad that they didn’t decide to enlage the kidney grille nostrils to ridiculous proportions like what most artists have been doing with their next generation BMW impressions after they had a look at the BMW Concept CS.
