5th Gear smart fortwo Crash Test

5thgearsmartleft.jpgDespite how the smart fortwo looks like it’s a disaster waiting to happen during accidents, smart says that it’s actually safe because of the use of a solid steel “Tridion” frame, left visible at the exterior as a major design element. While on paper it looks alright, but how does the smart fortwo perform in real life crash tests? 5th Gear decided that an experiment was long due… video after the jump!

2nd gen Fiat Bravo promo video

newbravo2.jpg

Fiat has produced this promotional video for their upcoming 2nd generation Fiat Bravo, which replaces the Fiat Stilo in it’s product line-up. Also notice that the letters a and v in the new Bravo logo forms the number 2. Pretty smart, though I can’t say I appreciate the way they took the new Fiat logo very much. Click here for my previous post on the Fiat Bravo, and the video is available after the jump!

7left.jpgWhat kind of joker drifts and does donuts in a BMW 7-series? Apparently it’s something common in Saudi Arabia. This time around though, this particular driver had a spot of bad luck. Video after the jump.

Peugeot 206 Escapade

206escapade1.jpg

Alot of manufacturers have been building soft-roader versions of their normal road going cars, seeing that there is a market for rugged looking vehicles that will never ever be taken off the tarmac in their lifetime. This works out to be alot cheaper than developing a small off-road vehicle from scratch. Hyundai has done it with the Getz Cross, and you also have cars like the Fiat Panda 4X4 running around.

The Peugeot 206 has many variants, a 5-door, 3-door, station wagon, coupe cabriolet and even a sedan! Now you can add a soft-roader to the mix - the Peugeot 206 Escapade, which as far as I know is being sold in Brazil. It’s basically the 206 SW station wagon with the bodykit tailored to give it a rugged offroader look. You also have a higher suspension by 25mm to be exact, but those wheel arches are filled up with 14 inch wheels wrapped with 175/70/R14 tyres. The Peugeot 206 Escapade is powered by Peugeot’s 1.6 liter 16V engine making 113hp, and is Flexi-Fuel ready, this means the car can run both on gasoline or alcohol.

Honda Accord 2.4 VTi-L Facelift Test Drive

accordtestdrive1.jpg

The Honda Accord was recently facelifted for the 2006 model earlier this year, with subtle changes in front and something more radical at the back, but if you want details on what’s changed, I’ll have to point you to my previous post on the launch. Here, I’ll be providing an account of my experience driving the car around the roads of Langkawi for 1 day, as well as 3 days in the KL city. I tested the 2.4 liter model.

BMW 3-Series Convertible Ad

Let’s face it, a BMW is a chick magnet (Bring Me Women), and even more so if it’s a convertible. This ad for the E46 BMW 3-Series convertible follows a groom on the way to his wedding, but look at what he has to go through on the way. Video after the jump.

Nissan Offroad Ad Video

pathfiner.jpg

Remember Sixshot, that Transformers robot which could transform into 6 different forms? When I saw this video, I was reminded of him. Here’s another Nissan ad, promoting it’s trucks’ offroading capabilities. I like the 3D.

Toyota Auris Concept Video

aurisspace1.jpg

Been a long time since I’ve posted videos here. Following the standard car video concept of “hot chick checks out car driving by in deserted volcanic or forest area” (which Proton also used for the Satria Neo TVC), this is Toyota’s video showing off the Toyota Auris Space Concept. The Toyota Auris Concept gives us a preview on Toyota’s next generation European hatchback, which will replace the current Toyota Corolla hatch. More details on the Toyota Auris here. Check out the video after the jump.

Proton Rally game based on Half Life engine

protonrally1.jpg

Here’s something amusing. A company called GameXtra has actually developed a modification for the Half Life engine called Proton Rally. For those who are in the gaming scene, you would know that the Half Life engine is very flexible. In fact, Proton Rally is likely based on the HL Rally mod.

It features Proton cars like the Waja, GEN2, and Satria Neo. You can buy new parts to soup up your car with the money you get from winning races. It’s never going to be as good as Gran Turismo though, as the Half Life engine was never meant to be used to develop racing games.

More screenshots and a video after the jump.
