• Aston Martin One-77 makes 750hp, new video released

Aston Martin has dropped the One-77‘s official horsepower figure, which is set at the 750 mark. The limited-edition supercar’s 7.3 litre sumptuous V12 also cranks out 750Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful naturally aspirated cars in the world.

The company did not reveal performance numbers but it was previously reported that the One-77 hit the 354.86km/h mark during a test at an undisclosed facility in Europe. As mentioned before, the One-77 is based on a limited production run of 77 units. The car is still undergoing rigorous testing before it is let out into the wild, to the hands of millionaires who’ve got unbelievable amounts of money.

Aston Martin did confirm that deliveries of the One-77 will start in early 2011. The company also released a new video showcasing the supercar. In the video we see the usual list of action shots, and if you’re a fan of the supercar or just anything Aston, get your salivary glands ready.

  • Hispania pit mechanic got hit by F1 car and survives

An accident occurred in the pit lane during yesterday’s Italian GP in Monza. The incident involved the Hispania racing team and it occurred when driver Sakon Yamamoto dived into the pits for a scheduled pit stop. Everything looked perfect for the team when the Japanese driver stopped in his pit box but things turned ugly after the tire change was completed.

The ever-so-important lollipop man gave the clear signal to the driver but at the same time there was a mechanic who was adjusting Yamamoto’s radio. He was standing in front of the rear right wheel. Given the clear signal the driver just accelerated away leaving the mechanic in harms way.

The mechanic got hit by the rear wheel and was pushed further to the left. He landed on the ground right away and the rest of the crew rushed towards him soon after. The race stewards then temporarily closed the pit lane to make way for a safe extraction.

According to another Hispania driver, Karun Chandhok the German mechanic named Marcel was rushed to the medical centre and thankfully he is stable at this point of time. Marcel who never lost consciousness is now awaiting more scans. Everyone knows motor sport in general is dangerous which is why there are countless rules and regulations in regards to safety.

However we have seen a number of accidents in the pits and something should be done to stop this. The Hispania outfit could receive a penalty from the FIA over this incident.

  • Mazda applies KODO design to the Mazda2 and Mazda3

We recently featured Mazda’s new Shinari concept, which is the first embodiment of the new “KODO” design language for the company’s future models.

Mazda claims positive reactions from the media, industry and fans. Thus, they thought it would be a good idea to give the general public what the new design language featured on the concept car would look like on existing hatchback models like the Mazda2 and the Mazda3.

To do that, the company have released a video of just that. Not using standard 3D rendering, the video was created by projecting images and colours onto clay models. Like the Shinari concept, design of the car’s look very progressive and new, but don’t get your hopes up too much as this is barely a concept, just a preview of things to come. Enjoy the video above!

  • Proton P390A based on Mitsubishi Lancer previewed on TV3

Proton decided to give Media Prima’s TV3 a scoop on the new Proton Waja replacement “P390A” model based on the current generation Mitsubishi Lancer. A TV3 program earlier this week had shots of a covered Proton-badged Lancer with a red paintjob.

The cover was lifted up a little momentarily at different sections of the car to give us a glimpse of the styling changes that Proton has done – the entire front end looks different and I must say quite similiar to the rendering that Theophilus did (shown in line). TV3 also reveals that a manual transmission will be available.

  • 2nd generation Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class videos

Mercedes-Benz have released some new videos of the new second generation Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. I’m pretty sure Mercedes-Benz Malaysia are happily gearing up with a really long order list – the CLS seems to be really popular in Malaysia along with the Cayenne – the choice of the “one level above your usual E or 5-er” rich.

  • VIDEO: Red Bull’s Adrian Newey involved in Ginetta crash

Red Bull Racing technical chief Adrian Newey was taken to hospital after suffering a crash while racing in England over the weekend. Newey was involved in a Ginetta G50 support-race to the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.

Driving a guest car, he was pushed into a spin, eventually stopping, only to be struck side on by another driver. Newey was removed from the Ginetta on a stretcher and taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. It was said that the RB6′s creator was talking on the way to the hospital, but was still in some pain. Overall, Newey is fine and this was confirmed by Ginetta series boss Lawrence Tomlinson. Red Bull fans can breathe a sigh of relief as he should be up and ready for the next race.

Red Bull is currently top of the Formula 1 Constructors Championship with 312 points, closely followed by McLaren with 304 points. Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastien Vettel are currently first and third place respectively in the Drivers Championship. 10 points separate the two.

  • VIDEO: Lotus Exos Type 125 – F1 inspired track car

Lotus unveiled the Exos Type 125 at the recent Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion event, an F1 inspired track-only car. Built in Norfolk, England, the Exos Type 125 is powered by a 3.5-litre Cosworth GPV8 with 650 hp and a 10,300 rpm redline, which extends by another 500 rpm at the push of a button. This is mated to a semi automatic transmission with paddle shifts mounted on the steering wheel, F1 style.

The 650 kg Exos has a power to weight ratio of 1000 hp per tonne. Keeping weight low and design F1-true, is the use of carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fibre pushrod suspension and shark fin engine covers. Unlike F1 engines though, it runs for 4500 km before needing a rebuild and has a starter motor inside the car. Customers of the T125 will also have a number of paint options including the classic Lotus green and yellow livery. How about a replica of Lotus Racing’s T127?

Lotus plans to make 25 units of the Exos, pricing it at 1 million euros. Buyers will be part of the Exos owners’ club that will organize track days and events to familiarise drivers with their new cars. Expert trainers will be roped in to help (Mika Hakkinen and Jarno Trulli are rumoured to be involved). The first 10 units will be delivered in spring 2011 while the rest will be ready by next summer.

  • VIDEO: Subaru Impreza WRX STI ad – ‘Ken Block’ style!

Subaru went in a different direction with their ads for the latest generation Impreza WRX STI – it involves getting normal people off the street and scaring the life out of them with the help of rally driver Dave Mirra.

Powered by a 2.5 litre turbocharged engine producing 305 horses, the car shuffles through the underside of an overpass, very Ken Block-esque. Egging it on is the more than substantial amount of torque which stands at 393Nm.

The reaction on their faces should be enough to keep you entertained for a few moments. Watch a total of five different reaction shots after the jump. The first video from the top is the best of course ;)
