VIDEO: Another longer Forte Koup promo

Kia Forte Koup

Here’s another version of the Kia Forte Koup promotional clip that was published on this blog earlier this week. This time you get to see two Koups in action – one red and one blue. The previous 30 second promo clip actually used snippets of footage from this one. This one is actually longer, clocking in at over 1 and a half minutes.

VIDEO: Kia Forte Koup TV Commercial

Kia Forte Koup

Kia has released a new TVC for its new Kia Forte Koup. The Koup still looks as good as ever, who would have ever imagined a Korean car could ever look so desirable? The Koup looked pretty darn good in silver when I test drove it in South Korea, but here in this ad it looks even better in red. Though catchy, I didn’t really understand what the ad was trying to say until the end, then it made sense to me. Two is enough, haha.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV Production EV goes on sale!

Mitsubishi i-MiEV EV

A 160km range on the Japanese 10-15 urban mode driving pattern, a 7 hour 200V charge time, 30 minutes on a 200V 3-phase quick charger, and LED headlamps and tail lamps to add a finishing touch. You’ve just read the spec sheet of the new production Mitsubishi i-MiEV EV, a production electric car that has just gone on lease by Mitsubishi for nearly 4.6 million Yen inclusive of consumption tax.

That’s nearly RM165k, and with the taxes you have here in Malaysia it could end up pretty darn pricey. But it does have a lithium ion battery, which is more advanced than the nickel-base ones that go into most hybrid and EVs these days.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV EV

The battery which consists of 88 li-ion cells connected in series is installed under the floor, and the 64 PS 180Nm electric motor which is mated to a single-gear transmission is installed under the luggage compartment. Yes, like the regular combustion engine Mitsubishi i, it uses a rear midship layout.

Mitsubishi will be preparing 1,400 cars for leasing this year, mainly to corporations and local authorities. Individual leases are expected to begin in April 2010, but order-taking will begin in July 2010. Look after the jump for a video of the i-MiEV’s test run through the Tateyama Kurobe alpine route surrounded by 3,000-meter-high mountains.

VIDEO: Peugeot 5008 Promo Footage

Peugeot 5008

Peugeot has released a promo video for the Peugeot 5008 7-seater MPV, based on the 308 chassis. It basically shows a family having “family time” centered around the 5008. The background music is pretty good I must say, my kind of music!

Check the video out after the jump.

All-new Jaguar XJ: Bowers & Wilkins teaser clip

Jaguar XJ

Jaguar had better have something really revolutionary ready for the Bowers & Wilkins audio system that’s set to be installed in the new Jaguar XJ because Matt Jones, Technical Specialist for Audio Systems at Jaguar claims that “nobody else has ever been able to do something like this in a car”, referring to the sound system’s ability to produce perfect sound no matter which seat you are seated in.

We don’t really get to see much of the car that we haven’t seen before in this video, but we do get to see one lone speaker set in a large area of wood panelling, so that pretty much assures us that the new XJ will be decked out in vast amounts of wood just like a Jaguar should.

New Arnage replacement “Grand Bentley” teased!

Grand Bentley
Click for enlarged image

Bentley has released this teaser image and video of a new car they call a “Grand Bentley”. Their press release includes a quote from what they say is Bentley’s first customer back in October 1921. “The reason I bought a Bentley was because of its exceptional performance in all respects on the road. Such features…leave nothing to be desired,” said Noel Van Raalte.

The new Grand Bentley has yet to be named but it will replace the flagship Arnage and will be, in their own words, “the epitome of Bentley”. Hopefully the all-new car will also feature an all-new engine, putting the 50 year old 6.75 liter two valve per cylinder pushrod V8 first introduced in the 1959 S2 Continental as a 6.23 liter to rest.

In its latest incarnation, the old engine puts out 530 horses and 1050Nm of torque through the help of turbocharging and intercooling. But that 1050Nm kicks in at a mid-range 3,250rpm which is not very impressive. The Arnage’s sibling the Continental is powered by a more modern engine, a Volkswagen W12.

VIDEO: Revenge of the Fallen June 2009 TV Spot

Transformers 2

A new trailer for the Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen movie set to be released end this month have been released. It’s quite new I think, I personally haven’t seen it in local cinemas yet. I think it’s more of a TV ad spot, looking at its length. There are some new scenes from the movie in there, unfortunately mostly of people and not of the robots. Anyway check it out after the jump!

BMW Voice Control improves the way you talk to your car’s navigation and entertainment system

BMW Voice Control

BMW will be updating the voice control system for the optional BMW Navigation Professional system in cars beginning September 2009 with a latest version that promises more natural interaction with your car.

The BMW New Voice Control system allows one single voice command to completely transmit the driver’s destination into the navigation system. The driver’s verbal statement specifying the place, street and number is processed immediately by the system, all data going directly into the navigation unit.

A driver can say “Berlin, Willy-Brandt-Strasse 1” and the navigation system will automatically translate this into the Federal Chancellery in the capital of Germany, and begin navigation directions to the destination. This means the system has an edge over Mercedes-Benz’s LINGUATRONIC, because it is able to “understand” a complete address entry.

You can also use it to control the entertainment system. It monitors and interprets the user’s voice commands regarding the type of music, the name of the artist, an album or an individual title.

Look after the jump for a video of how it works.

Nick Heidfeld’s take on the new BMW X5 M

BMW X5 M

BMW F1 driver Nick Heidfeld tells us his opinion of the new BMW X5 M, the M division’s first SUV which was unveiled together with its sleeker sibling the X6 M earlier this year. But of course being an employee it’s nothing but praises for the X5 M, but it’s still a nice watch because there are some footage of the X5 M in action inserted into the clip. That blue looks pretty good. If you need a recap on what the X5 M is all about read my launch story, but here’s a quick recap: twin-scroll twin-turbo V8, 555 horsepower, 680Nm of torque, and 4.7 seconds to 100km/h. Watch the video after the jump.
