Naza Automotive Manufacturing’s Gurun facility achieves 150,000th unit production milestone

The manufacturing arm of the Naza Group, Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM), has recorded the production of its 150,000th vehicle at its facility in Gurun, Kedah. The milestone was reached yesterday. To mark the historic occasion, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir commemorated the 150,000th vehicle, a Naza Forte 1.6SX, produced at the facility.

NAM began operations in May 2004 with a RM500 million facility on an 140-acre parcel of land, and rolled out its first vehicle, a Naza Ria, in August that year.

The facility has produced 18 models at the plant since commencing operations, these being the Ria, Citra, Sorento, Spectra, Suria, Bestari, Forza, Sportage, Spectra 5, Optima, Rondo, Pregio, Picanto and Forte, as well as the Peugeot 407, 308, 207 and the 3008.

Currenly, the following models – Forte, Pregio, Citra, Rondo and the Peugeot 407, 308, 207 and 3008 are assembled at NAM. For 2011, NAM is on track to deliver 15,540 units, with the target for 2012 being 30,050 units. On the export front, NAM has been exporting units of the Peugeot 207 to Thailand and Indonesia, while the Kia Pregio van is being exported to Indonesia.

The facility is currently undergoing a RM714 million upgrading and expansion exercise over a six-year period, which began last year. Under this exercise, NAM will invest in the upgrading of facilities, plant expansion, new model introductions and research and development.

Wow that mean they screw 600,000 doors & stick 300,000 badges, must honour them in Malaysia Books of Record for car company who do most rebadge by only screwing doors & sticking badges.
In future when Naza staff can write in their resume as profesional door screwer & badges sticker, sured highly in demand. :-)

What an ignorant idiot you are, pathetic fanboy. First off, bear in mind that ONLY the Forte, 308, and 3008 is SEMI-ASSEMBLED!! This meant certain parts were only assembled there, like doors, selected wiring, and minor parts like batteries. You think Naza would be spending all day just sticking badges and doors?

Think again!! The Pug 207, 407, Kia Rondo and Picanto are all fully assembled here, so shut up and think before you come talking more garbage. Geez.

      Yes hitting it rite to.
they hv all these super duper names for their variants nearly almost for every models. CKD2 – a name given to models who undergo bumper detached and of course tyres removal too. who only managed to sleep stupidly in the container all the way frm Korea and only to wake up after surpassing kastam checkings. When they reach the assy line, you know waht i mean ,just re-attached tyres and bumpers. Also patching labels and bolting jobs.
Thats how the ali baba is making biz here.

Notice how Research and Development is the last thing being mentioned? Hehehe.

    Anyway, yeah groundbreaking. Amazing. Not.

Previously they had several licensed car. How many is left with a Naza badge? Maybe the brothers are too busy about real estate to really care.

Why are we allowing Naza to do this type of business? I mean the Forte kind of business? I noticed most are using K or Kia badge now.

  • it is my concern as the sole owner of Naza sutera. It really upsets me when the power window control switch is no where to be found. I am just wondering whether is it fair to drive all the to Gurun just to get the switch? i hope my matters can be resolved soon and i will be anxiously waiting for ur feedback.

do u know that the salesman told me that, if the customer can drive safely, and arrive at penang/gurun without any breakdown it means that their salesman are the Haappiest Man on this planet… and gonna congratulate u on that achievement!
