SPYSHOTS: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport spotted undisguised undergoing TVC shoot in Thailand

pajero-sport-0006

We’ve seen spyshots and we’ve even seen patent images showing us exactly how the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will look like, but there’s a big difference between looking at a car through 2D patent drawings and full on undisguised spyshots such as these.

These images were found on Thai website Headlightmag’s forum. From what we understand from the Thai to English translated text, the new Pajero Sport was undergoing a TVC shoot and the photographer sighted it from a high-rise residential building nearby.

The new striking face has a big lower intake framed by a border that also links the headlamps to the fog lamps. This is MMC’s new signature look as seen on the latest 2016 Outlander and also concept cars like the XR-PHEV. The elements inside the grille are horizontal, as opposed to the Triton’s vertical chrome teeth, and eat into the headlamp clusters. The SUV’s rear contains wraparound tail lamp clusters with a “tail” that goes right down to the bottom edge of the tailgate

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will debut on August 1, which is within weeks after the scheduled unveiling of is rival the Toyota Fortuner. Both are based on pickup trucks – the Toyota Fortuner is based on the Hilux while the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is based on the Triton.

By far the sexiest of the SUVs launched this year. Looks good, waaaaaayyyy better than the Triton which it was based from. Can’t wait to see it in the metal!

The front is awesome, the rear abit mehhh because of the odd looking tail light.
Please do fit better engine & drivetrain better than the Fortuner.
This design make the Fortuner looks old and boring.
If Fortuner using Hilux engine,Pajero using Triton
      2.8l diesel 174hp/450Nm vs 2.4l 178hp/430Nm
Navara engine also that good 2.3l twinturbo-diesel making 187hp/450Nm
Why oh why, Toyota still making big displacement yet lower power that the smaller displacement.
      Mitsu 2.4l RM760 , Nissan 2.3l RM680 ,Toyota 2.8l RM1320
Roadtax gonna be pricey for Toyota, almost double the Mitsu&Nissan

Apple to apple pls. Don’t compare to 2.8 1GD engine.
MMM said no 2.4 MIVEC diesel because of our low quality diesel. We still got old 2.5 4D56 – 178 hp 350 Nm.
Compared with Fortuner 2.4 – 160 hp 400 Nm, more torque yet drinks less fuel.
Diesel means torque, not hp – it’s how fast to pull the wall, not how fast to crash the wall.
I still want to buy Fortuner over this Pajero. I’m still wiggling with the Myvi accident.

          (1GD-FTV)
2.8 litre 177 hp at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm
          (2GD-FTV)
2.4 litre 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm

This is the new Toyota GD engine, as I said earlier…is there any new engine?
          details please…

The kink in the rear lights, it is a bit weird for me. Front looks good though.

suddenly the new pajero sport and the new triton swap identity. the former used to be conservative, now becomes edgy and funky and one-of-a-kind. the latter used to be edgy and one-of-a-kind, now becomes more “normal looking” and conservative.

Much better than upcoming Fortuner. But overdone rear. Perhaps the statement which said “there is nothing perfect in this world” is true…

I’ll buy toyota fortuner over this if UMW put vsc and more airbags on the new fortuner. I know suv is meant to be big, but this pajero is not just bulky..its obesity. The body and front design is not proportionate but again have to see it in real metal. Front design good but rear just so so. Toyota Fortuner rear is good, but front has less character than this new pajero…but of course both design are better looking than their current one.

The front face is the “dynamic shield” styling previewed in the 2015 Outlander down under. I suppose this will be Mitsu design for now. IMHO the front design looks Ok but the rear might raise a few eyebrows. Its that love it or loathe it depending one’s taste. At least it looks heaps better than the fortuner

They should have used this grille for the triton. All the chrome on the triton face just looks weird

  • I have no problem with the rear.

But strangely, I feel that the new Fortuner gives more peace of mind, probably becuz of the myvi knock-off accident.
