Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced the Volkswagen Passat Trendline Plus and Comfortline Plus – these come with extra kit, all while being significantly cheaper than the standard variants.
The company claims that the added equipment is worth RM8,000 on the Trendline Plus and RM12,000 on the Comfortline Plus. Retail prices start at RM144,990 for the Trendline Plus – a whole RM15,000 lower than the regular Trendline – while the Comfortline Plus is RM10,010 less expensive than the standard Comfortline at RM164,980. Both figures are net prices excluding on-the-road fees such as registration and road tax.
On the Trendline Plus, the 16-inch Aragon alloy wheels are upgraded to the Comfortline’s 17-inch Istanbul rollers, while the Comfortline Plus gets a corresponding bump to 18-inch Monterey ten-spoke alloys (different from the top-spec Highline’s Dartford items). The Trendline Plus also receives leather upholstery, and both cars get window tint as well.
Otherwise, kit count remains identical, with the Trendline Plus receiving halogen reflector headlights, front and rear fog lamps, LED tail lights, push-button start, auto lights/wipers, front and rear parking sensors, Climatronic three-zone auto climate control, manual seats and a Composition infotainment system with a five-inch touchscreen.
The Comfortline Plus adds LED headlights, keyless entry, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory and massage functions, Park Assist, cruise control, paddle shifters, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a reverse camera and a powered bootlid with handsfree operation. Both models get six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control and a Driver Alert System.
Powering both models is a 1.8 litre turbocharged TSI mill producing 180 PS at 5,100 to 6,200 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,250 to 5,000 rpm, mated to a seven-speed DSG dry dual-clutch transmission.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Why get excited over this Rm15k incentive? Give it a few months, VW themselves will throw prices and sell this car at RM110k.
Past history and precedent speaks all. See their past history and you will know, they will have half price firesales soon cause sales are so bad.
Hmmm RM110k. buy Passat or Perdana.
Passat has DSG, Perdana2 has jepunis smell
Same Basher will just bash for the same thing.
Wait long long pasti dapat
I think the newer dry-clutch DSG no longer has major issues.
However, confidence cannot be built back overnight.
The wise approach would be to introduce wet-clutch DSG in all VW here for a couple of years, then slowly reintroduce the dry one in the lower range models. We know from history that we are forgetful in just a couple of years.
For the trendline and comfortline, there is no need to give additional kits other than just a wet-clutch DSG.
In order to encourage people to buy the highline, and to separate it further from comfortline, give factory installed window tinting (because we don’t trust ahbeng workshop in touching our new vehicles) and to give bright-coloured leather upholstery.
Go and do the calculations.
Its a shame for an otherwise a really good car apart from the DSG gremlin n lousy aftersales. J n K cars just dont have the same refinement.
Here’s some info about the actual difference in the mechanics between the dry and wet clutch DSG (Direct Shift Gear) automatic gearboxes that you might find interesting. The slippage and extra friction caused by running the wet clutches continuously in fluid means that wet clutches will never be able to match the (fuel) efficiency of the dry version. Hence the inevitable move towards dry clutches.
Another fact – the recall VW had with their DSG DQ200 dry clutch transmission was unrelated to the “dry clutch” part of the transmission, but due to the “wet” mechatronic control mechanism in the transmission which became prone to malfunction in hot, humid, stop-start conditions when running (it is continuously immersed) in an incompatible factory-fill synthetic fluid.
One more fact for those who have bothered to read so far: So why is there a need for transmission fluid in dry clutch DSG gearbox? Because the gearbox has gears that need to be lubricated, just like in a manual gearbox, and because there’s also a differential within the gearbox to lubricate. One final use of the fluid is to run the hyraulics that control the clutches and shifting mechanism, with this hydraulic system being controlled by that “wet” mechatronic control valve mechanism, the very item that problems in, caused VW’s DSG200’s woes.
A final fact to close this note. Dry clutch DSG transmissions use substantially less transmission fluid than wet clutch and “conventional” automatic geraboxes; just 2 litres compared to 7 to 10 litres. Enjoy.

Lets see what the resident mental patient have to say when the car is CHEAPER…
er… Like… its not cheap enough?
Irregardless of us liking it or not, there is method in his madness.
Now even VW fire up the game by adding kits and lower the price as the same as camry and accord..Again Sleepy toyota can send their uncle look camry to grave.
If u r wondering why the T is so sleepy here perhaps u should know that the T uses proxy here in msia called the D which uses proxy called the P2, the best selling brand here. Thats why the T dont give a sh*t about being sleepy, he already win.
(Like) 2018 Accord.
(Dislike) Passat
lol…looks like Honda SAs are working hard.
Lol… Honda sa don’t need to work hard their car can sell by itself. Vw sa work like cow also car can’t sell.
Does this qualify for 0.88% promotion interest rate?
They say they won’t drop price.. they just drop everything..
What’s next?Tiguan Trendline plus plus with 20k cheaper?
Bring in Tiguan 2.0T AWD and price it at rm188k pls, will sell like hot cakes!
Forester XT Turbo hot!
U gong ah… vw say this n that also u believe? Just ask the current crying Passat owner. Haha
Yes, that’s the correct pricing.. Don’t waste time selling as premium and end up giving huge discount
More cheaper A4. why not?
Go ahead then. Who’s stopping u?
Why compare with other segment? Passat compare ngn A6 la.. A4 compare ngn Jetta.
dry DCG, no no
Hope comes with full warranty. Gbox warranty ?
lol…. rubbish stock clearance. So much for “There wont be another discounts of 15-20k”. Pant on fire now, VW?
Lol. 15-20k is nothing bro…. wait for 30-50k discount
Bingo! It’s just stock clearance. Very easy for CKD factory workers to change 17″ rims from Comfortline to Trendline (16″ rims just throw away), order 18″ rims from Germany and put on to Comfortline, tint all windows and call them PLUS. Highline is selling so well, got waiting list, but nobody wants lower spec. VW’s got the wrong strategy and now they see it: don’t try to fight Accord and Camry, better to fight with low spec Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Better to just have Highline and introduce R-Line.
Dry DSG tranny…go figure!!!
Get a 12 month old Sonata instead. Better value for money and no DSG problem
Top up 15k from getting civic tebu or elantra tebu to this is better no?
Not sure which is correct, website shown differently the pricing https://cdn.volkswagen.com.my/media/Kwc_Basic_DownloadTag_Component/30260_brochures-75835-child-download-downloadTag/default/26850c28/1500520295/passat-plus-wm.pdf
The prices stated on paultan.org are taken off the official VPCM press release. We are aware that VW’s website shows a different set of prices, but we’ve cross checked with VPCM regarding the pricing.
The Passat Plus models retail at RM144,900 and RM164,980, inclusive of discounts (from the higher listed price in the VW website).
Thanks.
Can someone told me what is the discount for old 1.8 Trendline? additional 10-20k? Total will be 25-35k? This year end will be bargain.
the feature that is still missing?
a reliable after sales service experience.
Says someone who regret buying a Ford. ‘Facepalm’
Hey jonathan, this trendline model fitted with leather seat, are those option offered by vgm?
We’ve checked and it turns out that the Trendline Plus does get leather as standard; the article has been amended as such. Thanks for pointing it out!
…BECAUSE OF THE NEW “WAVE” COMING FROM HONDA AND TOYOTA
Honda yes. Toyota no.
What wave? Vios TRD? Omaigad
Vios fan boy spotted
Buy a VW is like digging your grave.
My car have problem now still in service center for many time in out already but they say car is ok. No problem – they cannot solve the problem dont buy a vw!!!!
Second hand value of vw are shit dirt cheap. I own a Passat. Golf and a Beetle – never ever a vw again
Ni…. Dashboard, preve ke passar? Who copy who?
Only proton copies. Full stop. And only proton owners like to accuse others maker copying. Look into the mirror first bro
Nowadays everybody is copying each other. Duh
Any idea what brand is the tinted film?
VW new management is walking back to the old path!
Why price it 159 K…3 month later discount it at 20K, and now add kits with lower price by 15K?
VW pricing strategy only make the potential buyer to believe one simple rules… never too late to buy a VW as the price might just drop the day after tomorrow!
However, we cannot denied that VW Passat is a worth to get car… even with the DSG issue!
Those do not have chance to own one.. shall just walk into VW show room to test the car.. and they will understand what I mean!
Looks like they can’t sell the low and mid spec lines due to its dry clutch config. No one wants that setup!
Yeap, ppl dont have anymore confident wt the dry clutch DSG. VW Msia shud just do the Tiguan instead…plonking a wet clutch DSG wt the 1.4TSI engine….
15k or 30k go fly kite volkswagen malaysia.
Yes they r flying beautiful kites with all vw owners money. Wanna join them?
I am currently looking at the price list from VW Malaysia’s website and it states that the prices excluding insurance are:
Trendline Plus: RM160,937
Comfortline Plus: RM185,927
You can get the price list and equipment list from:

I’m a current VW owner, i’m interested to replace my current VW with the new Tiguan but i cant even trade in my current 4 year old VW to cover my outstdg loan (7 years loan)…..my advice to others, the car is good but u’ll be stuck with it due to very bad resale value….VW shud consider doing what NAZA KIA is doing, guarantee resale value,…only then ppl have confident to buy your product, knowing 4-5 years down the line they can trade in for a newer VW…thats how u built brand loyalty!!
But VW themself keep discount their new car….how to guarantee the resales value?
One simple logic to decode VW in Malaysia…the new MD is focus in his own rice bowl…every single new unit they sell… it mean the chair is cool a little bit… VW Malaysia do not have time to talk about next year….so.. resales value not important any more!
Ok, here comes the Volkswagen Mega Sales. A matter of time before bigger discounts happen :d
Don’t buy now. Everyone wait a few months. VW stock yard in Pekan is so choke full of cars they will give even more discount in d coming months.
