After making its appearance at the Toyota showroom in Section 19, Petaling Jaya, the Toyota C-HR is now on display at the ongoing Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Racing Festival at Batu Kawan Stadium, Penang.
The car on display does not fully represent the local-spec version we will get (it is from Australia), but we have been told it would be a good indicator. Under the bonnet of this particular C-HR, there’s an 8NR-FTS 1.2 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 115 PS and 185 Nm.
However, the Malaysian-spec C-HR will come with a 1.8 litre Dual VVT-i engine instead, as was shown on the model’s official registration of interest (ROI) page. The engine will be mated to a CVT automatic, with drive going to the front wheels.
Other details revealed by UMW Toyota include some of the equipment the local-spec C-HR will get. This includes follow-me-home headlights, puddle lights, UMW Toyota head unit and rear cross traffic alert (also found on the Australian-spec car together with a blind spot monitor).
Getting back to the show car, there’s 4.2-inch multi-info display within the instrument cluster, halogen projector headlights with LED DRLs, dual-zone automatic air-con, 17-inch alloy wheels and fabric seats. As a reminder, these specifications may or may not make it to C-HR that Malaysians will get, something to take note.
Also uncertain is availability of the Toyota Safety Sense suite that includes systems such as Pre-Collision Safety, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and Automatic High Beam.
So, if you want to get up close with one of the most anticipated models currently, head on over to the TGR Racing Festival at Batu Kawan Stadium, Penang. If the C-HR has enough to pique your interest, head on over to the ROI page, here.
Following its stop in Penang, the C-HR will then be displayed at the Toyota Subang Jaya showroom (August 16-22), Mid Valley Megamall (August 23-27), Sunway Pyramid (September 4-10) and other locations around Peninsular Malaysia.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Is this the reason why our resident basher aka toyota salesman, was rather quiet the past few days?
Geely Boyue > all
Toyota CHR. The new Bemchmark has Arrive!
Should go to BM page, instead of ridicule yourself here.
OMG! Benchmark with fabric seats …showing to the crowd also!….sigh…hopeless!
Please dont buy toyota c-hr, force toyota to bring 1.2 turbo to malaysia, honda sell 1.5 turbo why not c-hr turbo
HRV 1.5 turbo ?
Wow, so many Ah Beng surrounded the car. So attractive and making everyone desperately to get one. Toyota sales must be beating Honda & P1 after launching this junk.
Hopefully they bring in the 1.8 Hybrid and not the NA 1.8. Cause then the CHR can benefit from EV/Hybrid tax benefit the Government is giving. With such benefits, can even sell the car for below RM100k.
Don’t forget, even BMW X5 which was RM600k before, with EV/Hybrid tax benefit, the car went down in price to RM388k
Mercedes S400 Hybrid from RM880k can be sold for RM580k
BMW 740Le from RM880k can be sold for RM550k
really boring specs… not worth the hype at all
If UMW wants to conquer the B-Segment SUV market please price this same as HR-V.
HRV is not Bsegment SUV, neither is CHR
When coming to Sarawak n Sabah?
Ya the exterior are so nice, but a bit late to comes out. Some of the potential buyers already bought hrv, cx5 and cx3. This will further kills off the likes of asx and xv though.
Good insights. How abt Proton Boyue then?
Me get a Macan, more solids me think.
U are driving a Gen2. Please wake up from dreaming. Cepat pergi MAKAN bukan Macan john.
Oops sori. Sometimes i get dilemma when to bring out my X6 or Gen2. Both is same same, just one is jacked up another is low down.
BMX6 folded bike.
But does ur BMX growl like my X6?
Gonna sell off mai 5 years old Vios for RM68,888 and top up for CHR!!
Smart choice…Toyota CHR moving forward, Worth the wait.
5y vios for rm68k ? LoL—Dream-On
2012 Vios for 68k? Please go update on ur knowledge on car prices. Now ur 5 year old Vios worth only 40k at max.
Sell 15k i also dun want, 68k???
hahaha
Display, ads everywhere, too much hype, still not for sale…other vehicles announced later already available for sale…
Jika di JB tidak perlu ke pameran untuk melihat Toyota C-HR ini. Di jalanraya JB boleh nampak C-HR ini dengan nombor pendaftaran negara Seberang Tambak.
Wow. ‘UMW Toyota head unit’ is considered a unique feature and one of the key selling point. Too bad the 2-din looks so outdated, it dumbs down the futuristic car design.
If there are no features to brag about, the 2-din definitely is the only selling point.
UMW themselves also not sure to put in active safety. lol scare of killing off the dying Altis.
rubbish car
Before toyota announced the launch in malaysia everyone was like please release the chr please please.. but now those folks be like “its ugly its too late it’s expensive etc etc”
Its too late
no push start..in what year UWM is living?
they havent civilised yet..
nothing much special in it. just the dramatic design. when we all get used to it like HR-V, it will just be another toyota..
This bringing of C-HR for only ROI (registration of interest) is a sign Toyota panicking of Honda’s stronger domination of the market. My 2 cents.
Car with much hype means having fear to compete even before selling.
UMW is counting ‘ROI’ points to determine the price lol. Come everybody go register ROI and make it RM200k. lol
Since when client need to register ROI for a new car?
Toyota really no confidence in SUV segment…
Year end is coming… Ppl won’t wait any longer… everywhere start throwing discount. CHR will have hard time selling.
Lack luster 1.8 engine and cvt…. why not the hybrid or turbo version? The prices it charges already reach the CRV and camry pricing but things given is worse than their Altis 2.0.
NO FUEL GAUGE NO BUY!! ok ..what wen wrong here?? wat
PPL dunno about car will throw money for booking, PPL know about car never enter this brand showroom to view.
