UMW Toyota Motor has announced a new variant for the Toyota Innova in Malaysia, which is now open for booking. The new 2.0X becomes the range-topper in the Innova line-up, and joins the existing 2.0G AT and 2.0E (MT and AT) variants.
The 2.0X shares quite a bit of equipment and features with the 2.0G, albeit with some new items to mark it out as the top variant. For starters, there are now LED headlights to replace the halogen reflector units, as well as larger alloy wheels compared to the 16-inch set found on the 2.0E and 2.0G. You’ll also notice the 2.0X gains a bit more crossover styling compared to other variants.
The big change on the inside are the two captain seats in the second row instead of a bench, effectively making the 2.0X a seven-seater rather than an eight. There’s also leather upholstery for the seats, an upgrade from the fabric ones on the other variants, along with a six-way powered driver’s seat (still manual adjustment for the front passenger).
As the rest of the kit list is identical to the 2.0G, you’ll still get plenty of “satin gold” and glossy wood trim on various surfaces, an automatic air-conditioning system, Optitron instrument panel with a 4.2-inch colour TFT-LCD multi-info display, foldable seatback tables, dual-zone ambient lighting, reverse camera and an eight-inch DVD-AVX infotainment system.
Besides the introduction of the 2.0X, the rest of the Innova range also receives an update, with seven airbags, VSC and traction control making their way to the 2.0E. This brings the base model up to par, in terms of safety kit, with the 2.0G and the new variant (along with a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating). Customers will also have more optional accessories to choose from, with a digital video recorder (RM636) and panoramic view monitor (RM2,650) being new additions.
Prices have also been revised slightly for the Innova, with the 2.0E (MT) being priced at RM107,800 (previously RM105,800), the 2.0E (AT) at RM115,800 (previously RM113,800), and the 2.0G AT at RM123,800 (previously RM122,400). All prices are on-the-road without insurance, and include a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty. The company will reveal the price of the 2.0X soon.

Too little too late, toyota.
Who cares……? bolehland need 2-2-3 seat arrangement which already available in others country. We malaysian is only the sohai in the world to flip-flop & bing-bang the 2nd-row seat to chip in 3rd-row of Innova, while others country get 2-2-3 seats arrangements, like what we hv in model Will-Fire & All-Fat.
Innova seat for all grade A-Z should be in 2-2-3 arrangement.
Why no diesel-turbo variant for this dinosaur? Indo has that as range-topper la
Hahahahaha p1 socai
This is toyota article why dragged in p1?
good for malaysia cause in malaysia, people got 6 kids minimum
i checked in umw toyota website. they dont sell the red colour. but why they put red in the brochure? stupid toyota.
The red is exclusive to the 2.0X, which is not officially on sale yet.
They still have their TRD fanboys to hang on
Save 50k & buy Exora
LED “Headlights”. No price for 2.0X?
Price for the new 2.0X variant is not stated. How much more compared to the 2.0G(AT)? Captain seats for 2nd row is a plus.
Good job UMW Toyota finally they upgrade innova lousy safety spec with this new combo. I hope it would make it into fortuner and hilux..It would be nice if it is available with diesel engine..More punchy than lembab petrol engine…1 more thing those X variant why so many chrome?? Weird thoo
Just some makeup… the car is underpowered…. just give malaysian the diesel top spec as the indonesian. Then this will a good car, it will instantly solve the fuel consumption and underpowered issue for this model
Test drove before, the acceleration of this mpv is too slow, 0-100 is almost 18 secs!!! Dont believe me??? Try it yourself!
Worse, always drive on fast lane like Unser or uncle or unta.
And stil, 0-100 in 16 seconds…
umw, pls bring back hiace 2015 spec (with ESC)
The car should look mascular to potray upmarket and at least look at par with the mitsubishi grandis.
Btw…wat is captain seats?? Captain of wat…ship plane…
lol… kampung boy need to google whats captain seat is… lol
Ure very rude..expected a professional answer..tnks anyway Sir
Chill out. It was a joke, don’t make your life so hard by taking everything so seriously. After all it was also partly your fault for the ignorance………
Captain seat is the seat Captain Kirk sits on when he is on board the Enterprise… sits behind the main navigator and just look and directs the journey… not he main driver but the second row individual plush seats.
aiya, 2.0NA is good because no turbo problem, and save road tax compare to 2.4 engine. unless gov reduce roadtax price base on emission?
No power at low RPM
How come we (malaysia) did not receive the 2.4 version when indonesia receive it? Dei 2.0 is so underpowered in a big body for innova
by research, diesel is not popular among MPV buyers – especially family owners. toyota in indonesia has a huge market – abt 1 million new cars every year and toyota alone is taking about 400,000 units of the cake.
Finally good features, leather seats plus 2-2-3 seating arrangement.
Just hoping that we get the more powerful diesel version as well.
2-2-3? Why not 2-3-3?
Wow 7 air bags for all variance, Now Honda need to answer why BRV only come with 2 air bags for all variance :P
BRV tu brapa harga, dik?
Even persona has more airbags
Pls compares jepunis with jepunis.
Jepunis? Innova wasn’t even sold in Japan. Technically it’s not a Japanese car, rather an Indonesian vehicle. Sticking a Toyota doesn’t made the Innova and Avanza a Japanese vehicle.
sell cheap for less safety. good job Honda
Innova compare with Honda Stream la
give us a 2.4J model. Powerful diesel engine with safety and affordability (steel wheels, no radio, no leather, etc)
The best comment. 2.4J MT/AT variant.
Still very overpriced. Prices seem to be going higher. I thought we were promised 30% car price reduction. Why is prices going higher under the disguise of update and more kit?
No point for upgrading if engine remains weak and ride quality remains poor.
Couldn’t understand why our consumer mindset really needs a 2-2-3 arrangement. A 2-3-3 is the better option in terms of practicality. When you need to ferry 5, the last row is needed. Probably in a lot of people’s mindset a 223 means I am in a Vellfire, I am rich.
But then, what I can agree with a lot of people here is that, umw should put in a 2.4 diesel as an option to attract more buyers. A diesel is more fuel efficient.
No man. i still prefer 2-2-3 seating position. Mainly for safety for immediate evacuation purpose, just in case of emergency. So there is atleast some space for 3rd seat passenger to evacuate for any accident.
Alasan je tu
1. Easily go in and out
2. Won’t trouble mom or dad when busy driving on raining
day to help kids to tumble the seat.
3. 2nd row passenger are much more comfortable
The top spec should be priced below RM80k…
Yes we need hilux engine in innova / more powerful 2.0 na engine !
A mini bus with T badge for 100k plus???
just continue to boyycott toyota for 1-2 years
then their cars will eventually come up to speed with 2017 safety standards
The design is somehow or rather ugly and not soothing at all.
Try to look sporty but it is really a junk performance.
Poor man Alphart
No money, wants T badge, buy Innova
Got money, wants T badge, buy Alphard
anyone driving Toyota innova previous model here? Will this model still like the old 1, flooding feeling when on the highway? How is the suspension and absorber did Toyota make any-upgrading on that parts?
Hi Nissan 2 Toyota, i have owned the previous Innova 2009 – 2013 and now the new Innova bought in Jan 2017. Dimension wise, the current model longer 6″, wider 2″ and taller than the old one. Ride quality of the new one better as it absorbs road undulations and shocks better. Cabin noise intrusion lower and generally this car is now quieter. The old model has poorer ride quality as the springs are harder. Handling wise, the older model is better than the new one due to older model’s stiffer setup. I prefer the ride quality of the new one as it glides over bumps and potholes effortlessly, quietly and without shocks going thru the car. Power wise the same as old despite a measly 1Nm increase in torque and 3hp more than the old engine; hardly any diff. Seats are better padded and more comfortable. Speeds exceeding 150kmh and it feels floaty. Could be due to the OEM tyres. I dislike the auto headlights cos it drains battery if you are in the dark (headlights come on automatically) and you dont start immediately. Then and now i am driving the manual. Better control on economy and better pickup over the auto. Lastly, i urge Toyota to provide a diesel option using the Hilux engine. This Innova is just underpowered resulting in high fuel consumption. Toyota should know an 8-seater must be powered by a turbo diesel plant or at least a 2.4 petrol NA engine.
