2018 Perodua Myvi – orders hit 20,000, 4,500 delivered; 184,707 vehicles sold from Jan-Nov 2017, up 1.2%

2018 Perodua Myvi – orders hit 20,000, 4,500 delivered; 184,707 vehicles sold from Jan-Nov 2017, up 1.2%

Exactly a month after the order books were opened, Perodua has announced that its car of the moment, the new Myvi, has surpassed the 20,000 milestone in terms of bookings, with 4,500 units of the third-generation hatchback having been delivered so far.

The company has said that after the launch of the car three weeks ago, the company is now pushing to build enough cars to meet demand. “The focus now is to ensure delivery of the all-new Perodua Myvi within an acceptable time frame. We thank the public for choosing the Myvi as the car of choice,” said Perodua Sales managing director Datuk Dr. Zahari Husin.

He added that sales of other models in the lineup has also been encouraging, following the deals that are being offered. For December, Perodua is giving exclusive rebates of up to RM2,000 on selected models of the Axia, Bezza and Alza, and is also holding a “Jom Singgah” campaign this weekend with promotions and offers at its showrooms and service centres nationwide.

Meanwhile, the company has also announced that it has sold 184,707 vehicles from January to November this year, an increase of 1.2% or 2,222 units compared to the 182,485 registered in the same period in 2016.

Let there be only 1 national carmaker,i.e..Perodua.
Protong….Geely is taking too long to hatch eggs.
      Perodua…should be renamed PERTAMA.

  • 20,000 bookings is impresive, but only tells half the story, 4,500 units is definitely no slouch, thats slightly more than half of roughly what Honda and Proton (No.2 and No.3 best selling brand in Malaysia) sells in their entirety with their 9 car strong lineup, with only the Myvi. Proton may beat Honda to the punch soon as People’s Party begins to crank up its industrial influence, but its a long road before they reclaim their crown from Perodua. Now its interesting which of the two P can launch the first mass-market EV in Malaysia.

Electric car, flying car, bla bla bla…no need to daydream so much lah. Better listen to what rakyat need eg. Fuel economy, timing chain, dual vvti, no tikus sound dashboard, etc.

Tak payah fikir, tak nak pening kepala, beli jer Perodua!

a hybrid (or even FI) mill is ambitious and probably not feasible for P2 in a very, very long time for 2 very good reasons:

      1. it comes at added cost which will push prices up and the discerning P2 target market will grumble and turn their heads (and pockets) elsewhere.

      2. the current lightweight+low output combination P2 employs is much more cost effective while still achieving commendable real world efficiency results.

P2 has their head clear in the game they are playing (and thriving at it). Considering how cost sensitive customers are (and ridiculously loose 100%+9yr financing options); P1 really shouldn’t need to ask why Honda is #2 when their prices aren’t remotely competitive for a homegrown make.

Perodua? Export? LOL it’s own by Toyota and Perodua is Toyota’s agent here for Malaysia. so, unless Perodua gains controls over Toyota, it will not go abroad because Toyota has other brands for other countries. do you guys even know why there is no Official Daihatsu dealer here in Malaysia? Perodua IS Daihatsu but lower quality.

most of you lot here forgot that Toyota/Daihatsu used the Perodua name to sell their downspec Japanese models in Malaysia. they know that Malaysian import tax will make their original cars too expensive for most Malaysian to afford. so they go local under local name Perodua to bypass that expensive tax and you lot are actually proud of Perodua like it’s a Malaysian own product? LOL a little facelift and slightly different cosmetics here and there don’t make it your own!

I think Perodua succeeds BECAUSE they don’t hastily plan to export in-house made models yet.

If there is enough market for this model to do well in export, they might consider it. For now, capitalize on their strength here first, then look for opportunities. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.

try pricing the myvi the same as the suzuki swift, toyota yaris or honda jazz. i bet perodua cannot sell that many units.

in return, if honda jazz or toyota yaris price the same as this perodua myvi, honda and toyota will sell so many that it will affect perodua sales.

any company enjoying government protection and boast to sell well, it is not impressive. remove the tongkat and than come and talk again.

1 yr persona owner here, had sitting inside the new myvi twice. Not bad the features i said, the radio crisp clear like listening cd. Compare to persona: Myvi having longer rear passenger leg space but much smaller boot space. Got minor rattles sound the back boot even new car. Car bottom and engine soundproof persona better. I’ll choose the myvi for the timing chain and more fuel saving engine. If perodua make a sedan myvi then really kills off other brand in the market.
