Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has officially introduced the new fifth-generation L462 Land Rover Discovery in the country. First previewed here last November, the three-row, seven-seat SUV makes its local debut in a solitary Td6 variant form.
Measuring in at 4,970 mm long, 2,220 mm wide (mirrors out) and 1,846 mm tall, with a 2,923 mm-long wheelbase, the oil-burner variant of the Disco comes kitted out in HSE level trim, as highlighted previously by the show car.
The 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 oil burner on this one is good for 258 PS at 3,750 rpm and 600 Nm at 1,750 to 2,250 rpm, and the unit features a two-stage oil pump, low-pressure exhaust recirculation and a revised fuel-injector nozzle for improved response and efficiency.
Paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, performance figures for the 2,298 kg Disco variant include a 0-100 km/h time of 8.1 seconds and a 209 km/h top speed.
Tech elements include the company’s multi-mode Terrain Response 2 system, a twin-speed transfer box, electronically-controlled air suspension as well as adaptive cruise control, the last incorporating queue assist and intelligent emergency braking.
Standard equipment includes LED headlamps and signature hi-line tail lights, automatic high beam assist, a four-zone climate control system, paddle shifters, a surround camera system and a fixed panoramic roof.
The Disco also comes equipped with a new dual-purpose powered inner tailgate – when deployed, the 285 mm long tailgate can serve as impromptu event seating. It’s certainly sturdy enough, able to support a maximum load of 300 kg.
Also on, a 380 watt Meridian sound system with 10 speakers and a subwoofer, a Navigation Pro system, premium floor mats and USB charging points across the second and third rows.
The brand’s InControl Touch Pro is also to be found, and this offers access to the vehicle’s Intelligent Seat Fold technology, which allows reconfiguring the second- and third-row seats remotely via a smartphone app on top of controls at the rear of the Disco and via the central 10-inch touchscreen.
The 60:40 load-through rear seats also come with manual slide and recline functionality. In terms of load space volume, it’s 258 litres with the third-row deployed and upright, but with all rear seats folded this goes up to 2,406 litres.
Safety kit includes eight airbags (front, side curtain and thorax), DSC as well as five Isofix mounting points over the second and third-row seats.
As standard, the local Disco rides on 21-inch, 10 split-spoke Style 1012 alloy wheels, but there are two optional wheel designs to pick from, a 21-inch five split-spoke Style 5025 wheel finished in satin dark grey as well as a 22-inch version of the Style 5025, in machine polished silver.
The show car seen last year came with a Kaikoura Stone exterior finish and ebony interior. Speaking of colours and trim, eight exterior shades are available for the local Disco range – Fuji White, Indus Silver, Silicon Silver, Aruba, Santorini Black, Farallon Black, the aforementioned Kairoura Stone and a very strking Namib Orange. As for interior colour combinations, there are three – Nimbus/Espresson, Acorn/Ebony and Ebony.
Plenty of accessories for the CBU model, and on the ptional items list is an Activity Key, which allows owners to lock and unlock the vehicle without the need to carry a conventional key fob – it has been designed as a durable wristband to be worn during outdoor activities.
Finally, pricing, and the new Land Rover Discovery Td6 goes for RM729,800, without insurance, road tax and registration. It comes with a five-year warranty and free service as well as three years of complimentary roadside assist.
The first five customers to purchase the new Discovery will be given a RM5,000 accessory voucher. The good news is that genuine Land Rover accessories (which are covered by a one-year warranty) fitted within one month or 1,600 km (whichever comes first) of the handover of the new Disco will be covered by the vehicle warranty.

Aiyyaa.. You don’t know? Under geely, volvo competes head to head with merc and bmw.
Volvo xc90 competes head to head with Range rover and Audi q7 overseas. And won!
For this design for that price tag??? Pfft..
Free falling Ringgit is causing that price tag to ballooon double. Previous gen was priced at 400k+ to current 730k++
The previous gen was priced at 400k++ n this…
TATA did well. Bravo
Ouch. Almost double of XC90. And it’s not even a plug-in hybrid.
Hybrid gets exemptions for tax la…thats y its cheaper to bring hybrid version, BMW and Volvo doing it.
oh BMW saves 194k in tax….
Land Rover obviously dont have hybrid version for Disco.
This model is rough 65k pounds. thats 350k RM and add tax, 750k..sounds about right. but of course they wont bring in thousands for sure. they for surely know market is limited at that price.
Wowzer.. Here in Qatar, price starts from QAR 216k for Base S trim. With HSE Luxury 3.0 Si6 Petrol trim, it is still QAR 285k.
Nice one taxman. Malaysia Boleh?
Worse, it is made by India.
Volvo XC90 > all
Hardly see land rover on the road due to the price may be. Hardly see Volvo on the road also but do see many VW and Peugeot recently. Luxury level like Audi, Merz and BMW are more common, see it eveywhere.
Also hardly see any new Audi on the roads to be precise.
I see more new Volvo than Audi on the road .!! even outstation .
Sadly , Audi seems to be a dying brand in Malaysia.
John,
Agree with you ,
TATA owns Land Rover and Jaguar . Some forms of Indian influence is on this Brand .
It would not be surprise that this land Rover is made from India too !!!
Don’t understand why ppl compare it with XC90?? Discovery is a true 4wd for off-roading, try taking XC90 into the bush.
Like john says ,
Land Rover is made by India and if take into the bush any breakdowns could have serious implications.
As for XC90 , The reliability factor is way better and no need to test in the bush .
Better in XC90 and not taking risk chances
bring the velar next

It’s priced too near to the Range Rover and the RR Sport, what’s the point.
Looks like they’re not looking to sell high volume… Overpriced at least 20% but that’s my two cents..
Holy sh….. The previous generation price was still acceptable but this new price is just stupid.
Whats the point of buying one. Electric car is the way forward. 3 years the 750k will become a 90k junk. Better buy the junk at that price and save you money…
ini harga gila

Buying a Mercedes Benz !!
You must be nut !!
Mercedes is just a Taxi status car but Land Rover had never been a Taxi before and hence any Land Rover is much more premium than any Mercedes Benz you can think off despite having Indian ownership.
Audi>Merz>BMW>VW>Volvo

5 year later of ownership…the car’s electronic will go crazy, and the diagnosis says error here and there….
Send the car to workshop, and cost a bomb to repair…
Crazy price.. Buy recon better
V awkward looking exterior and a dash/ centre console that already looks 8-10 yrs old. The premium brand name doesnt save this car..
Nice. But a volvo xc 90 cost half as much.
