FIRST LOOK: 2018 Honda Odyssey facelift, RM255k

Earlier this week, Honda Malaysia launched the facelifted 2018 Honda Odyssey. The pre-facelift was launched here at KLIMS 2013 and the JDM MPV was refreshed in its home market in October last year. JDM because there’s a larger and completely different Honda Odyssey in North America.

We get the refreshed Odyssey as a CBU import from Japan, in sole 2.4L EXV from and priced at RM254,800 OTR without insurance. It’s unchanged under the hood, which means a familiar 2.4 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine serving up 175 PS at 6,200 rpm and 225 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Drive from the naturally aspirated engine is sent to the front axle via a CVT automatic.

Equipment-wise, the Odyssey comes with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, front dual-zone climate control, rear single-zone climate control, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered front seats (eight-way driver and four-way passenger) reverse camera and power-sliding rear doors.

Safety kit includes six airbags (dual front, side and curtain), blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, Smart Parking Assist, hill start assist, stability control, ABS, EBD and brake assist.

Perhaps the most significant add on is Honda Sensing, as seen on the Honda CR-V and Accord. The safety and driver assist suite includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

What are the styling changes compared to the pre-facelift? And the interior? Watch the video above as we point out each of the new design elements sported by the Odyssey facelift.

This is a super cheap car globally.

But here, it becomes RM255k. I really don’t know how it can jump to this amount.

Yah, you save RM100K, but dunno when the KX model will arrive. Been waiting since Nov 2017 and they still haven’t confirm the delivery date. Getting tired of waiting.

They now got the EX model, but it costs RM20K more. Still cheaper than the Honda though.

It cost about RM100k in Japan, however we have 100% tax & duty for CBU non-Asean car. So DRB Honda got their AP and profiting of RM50k for each Odyssey they sold in Malaysia.

BTW, Hafriz, the overall interior quality is still poor compared to Mazda’s, Nissan’s and Toyota’s vehicles right? I mean its still not as tough or solid as the rest.Any comments my friend?
