As Chinese New Year festivities continue, so does that of weekly fuel prices – there’s more cheer in store for motorists for a second week running following the 10 to 12 sen drop last week in petrol and diesel pump prices.
From tomorrow, February 22, the price of RON 95 petrol will be RM2.17 per litre (down six sen from RM2.23 per litre last week), while RON 97 will be priced at RM2.43 per litre for the coming week (down seven sen from RM2.50 per litre last week).
As for diesel, Euro 2M will retail for RM2.13 per litre at the pump (down six sen from RM2.19 last week), while Euro 5 diesel, which commands a 10 sen premium over regular diesel, will be priced at RM2.23 (previously, RM2.29 per litre). These prices will be in effect until February 28, when the next fuel price adjustment will be announced.
This week’s fuel price announcement is the 48th since the weekly system took effect at the end of March 2017. The current price of RON 95 petrol is 13 sen lower (from RM2.30 per litre) than at the start of the programme, while RON 97 is down 17 sen (from RM2.60). Diesel, meanwhile, is seven sen lower than it was then (from RM2.20 per litre).

Waiting for the 3 ringgit fuel price comment.
At Shell our petrol ron97 and petron ron97 vpower is the EURO4 standard. You can fill up at shell and help save the environment
Hard times for 4S fuel station operators. Making big loss
Cut throat prices and still 3rd world fuel standard except euro 5 diesel which sb euro 6 now .
What’s the average global fuel price?
Yeah. According to Globalpetrolprices dot com, it shud have been RM4.50/L instead. At such low prices now, only encourages our neighbours to pump our cheap fuel.
some how i do agree with you. such huge difference would give the opportunity to smuggling and foreign vehicles to get fuel @ lower price.
The fuel price should move closer to neighbouring countries and that excess (if any) should spend in improving public transportation.
Lastly, our public transport is on par with third world countries except KL central
Yup, and short-sighted pipu dun see this. They rather prefer daily epic multi-hour traffic jams like in Jakarta instead of spending more for better public transports. Such is their mindset.
Untungla…
Mari puji…
Myvi alredi so good FC. Now can go further, thankU P2!
Whether petrol goes up or down does not matter. We Malaysians have already prepaid RM3.00 per litre with our super high car prices.
Malaysia has the most expensive car prices in the world and each Malaysians have already prepaid RM3.00 per litre for the next 20 years.
Wait a darn minute. When reduced prices, u pulak hentam no RV. So mana mau ni?
Which world u came from that has bog standard cars RV higher than purchase price?
bro john, reduction of vehicle price should be done in a progressive phase, i.e. every year reduce 1-2% in excise duty.
our beloved country is falling far behind in EEV and EV implementation.
How does a reduction in prices improve public transportation? As u mentioned above, outside of KL its 3rd world standard, so we must continue to increase it and spend that money on more public transports.
Thanks mahathir
Thanks proton
Shocking that Malaysia is still selling Euro 2M diesel. This was banned in Europe in 1994 because it was proven to be toxic, poisonous and carcinogenic (cancer causing)
24 years later, Malaysia is still selling Euro 2M
Such katakness under coconut is astounding:

try to improve your English. Diesel is being phased out in Europe despite it being Euro 5. This means diesel is not clean eventhough it is Euro 5.
But in Malaysia, still selling Euro 2M
Keyword here is “24 years later, Malaysia is still selling Euro 2M”
Allow me intro u to an interesting English word called: CHOICE.
Theres Euro2M diesel and then theres EURO5 diesel. This is called CHOICE.
Syukur for the lower petrol price.
Now, I can save a few ringgit this week so I have can roti canai telor than the usual roti canai kosong.
Parliament is going to be dissolved in March & it’s time for GE.. hidden agenda?
Yes, im sure MY gov has hidden control over global crude price movement. Such is the power of MY gov.
Nope.. but they definitely have hidden control over Malaysia’s petrol pricing. Such is the power of MY gov – still, I like your sarcasm! Peace out
As i shared the news article below, our prices r in tandem with the ups and downs of global fuel prices. So still think theres conspiracy theory?
“SINGAPORE: Oil prices fell on Wednesday, weighed down by a rebound in the U.S. dollar from three-year lows hit last week and by an expected rise in U.S. crude production.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $61.19 a barrel at 0755 GMT, down 60 cents, or 1 percent, from their last settlement.
Brent crude futures fell 48 cents, or 0.7 percent, from their last close to $64.77 per barrel.”
Gst in singapore 7%, malaysia 6%.
Soon: GST in SG 9%, MY 6%
SG to implement 9% between 2021-2025. Anything can happen between now to 2025 in MY, 10% maybe?
All this dilemma and Malaysia inflation hit 8-year high since 2009. Food, GST, TNB surcharge KWTBB 1.6%.
With GDP growth of 5.5% and epf of 6.9%? Theres no reason to increase that unlike downsouth with GDP of 3.5% and cpf of 2.5% and forecasted to decrease year by year.
Grab & Uber driver rejoice.
Civic FC turbo drivers also rejoice because car already EEV status and still can pump cheap fuel.
RM 2.30 (RON 95) was the price when we were still on monthly price revision. Shouldn’t we be comparing against RM 2.13, which is the first price under the weekly price format?
01/03/17 – 29/03/17: 2.30 / 2.60 / 2.20 (RON95/97/D2M)
30/03/17 – 05/04/17: 2.13 / 2.41 / 2.11
Just for those who are obsessed with the weekly trend statistics (RON95 only)…
From Week 1 to Week 48 since implementation of weekly mechanism, there were only 15 weeks where prices were below RM 2.13 for RON 95, being from 04/05/17 till 16/08/17. The rest were above RM 2.13.Lowest was MR 1.89 in Week 14 (29/06/17 – 05/07/17). Highest was RM 2.38 in Week 34 (16/11/17 – 22/11/17). Median price is RM 2.18. Mode price is RM 2.16 (4 times, Weeks 2,23,27 and 29)
