GALLERY: 2018 Toyota Harrier 2.0T Luxury in Malaysia

We now bring you a full gallery of the 2018 Toyota Harrier 2.0T Luxury, the range-topping variant of the SUV which is also available in base 2.0T Premium guise. This one is priced at RM259,900 on-the-road without insurance, making it RM21,900 more than the base variant.

The Harrier is powered by an 8AR-FTS 2.0 litre turbo engine (same as the Lexus NX) that produces 231 PS from 5,200 to 5,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,650 and 4,000 rpm. The mill is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, with drive being sent to the front wheels.

Standard exterior equipment on both variants include LED headlights with sequential turn signals, LED fog lamps, LED daytime running lights and LED cornering lamps. There’s also a set of 18-inch dual-tone, five-spoke turbine design alloy wheels shod with 235/55 profile tyres and keyless entry as well. Extra items exclusive to the Luxury are a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and rain-sensing wipers.

Moving inside, the Luxury one ups the Premium with its Nappa leather upholstery (instead of Ultrasuede), a NanoE air purifying system, electrochromic rearview mirror and illuminated scuff plates. The Luxury also gets ventilated and power-adjustable front seats – eight-way driver side with memory function and four-way passenger side.

A dual-zone climate control system, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, power-adjustable steering column and keyless start are standard on both variants.

Safety-wise, all variants of the Harrier are equipped with similar kit, including seven airbags, VSC, traction control, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, an electronic parking brake with brake hold function and parking sensors.

The SUV also gets the Toyota Safety Sense suite including Pre-crash System (autonomous emergency braking), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Adaptive High-beam System (AHS).

Once again, the Harrier 2.0T Luxury goes for RM259,900, which is inclusive of a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty. Buyers will get to choose from four exterior colours for both variants – White Pearl Crystal Shine, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine, Dark Blue Mica Metallic and Silver Metallic – with the first two requiring an additional RM848.

There are also a few optional accessories that can be added on, with the first being an upgrade to a DVD-AVN infotainment system with navigation for RM1,272. The other option is to install a tonneau cover in the boot for RM1,590.

Already cars in Malaysia are the most expensive in the world, now lagi, UMW increase the price.

I think Government should honour their promise to reduce car prices by 30%. 5 years we have been waiting.

This harrier is DOME for TOYOTA in Malaysia.

Just overprice as it is not premium at all.

Cannot even kill or compete with Q7, XC90 and X5.

Nowadays , japanese cars design, technology and finishing really SUCKS .

Just cannot accept a Toyota badge selling above RM 200K … Period ..no prestige at all..

    • Go get the crv. Its sub 200k. Cheaper, tubo, almost the same interior, fwd, almost the same spec. Trying to get 200k++ car, then complaint high price while u can get cheaper crv or mazda. Don’t tell me it is not in the same catagory. Harrier is luxury? Yea… pfff…

If u a true driver, looks is the last things that comes into consideration. No wonder Vios can still sell, its becoz customer like u who willingly buy sub-par car with premium price from UMW.

I agree. It has an antique furnishings flavour. I do not doubt that there are people who love such.

Personally, I find the interior is anything but modern or space-age. Perhaps the colour combination (maroon/black) makes it altogether dated and ultra conservative. But it’s Toyota! :))

The tonneau cover in the pictures are an option? And they cost almost RM1.6k. It does seem a bit pricey. Without buying that option, is there anything covering the boot/luggage area?

Agree. Insanely overpriced tonneau cover unless it’s a powered and auto-retract when opening the boot.

No way paying RM 230K ( this sort of pricing ) for a Toyota badge which is categorised as NON Premium SUV.

Better buy those true, exciting , safer and more technological advanced Premium SUVs ( even a pre owned /quite a new second hand one) currently sold in the local market will be more satisfying than this.

Even the RM50k Great Wall M4 from China comes with tonneau cover as standard while Toyota wants to charge RM1.6k for that in this Harrier. Shame on you Toyota.

OMG how can this harrier be call premium .

Just look at the distance between the front bumper and the front wheels , it is so far apart .

Normally Premium car had shorter offset distance between front bumper and front wheels.
This is what we call premium status while Toyota Harrier is not qualify at all despite putting in all the gimmicks , accessories and upgrading upholstery .

  • i don’t understand why keep on saying this is luxury SUV. Toyota is not a luxury brand. Lexus is. This is a good solid car that has been glorified to become luxury in Malaysia. Else where it is just another Nissan, Ford and Mazda competitor.

Since in Malaysia, customers consider this as luxury, they bring in 2.0T engine, so they can sell it at luxury pricing. In the cabin, CRV look and feel more luxurious.

in my opinion this is reasonable price and people will line up to buy this. why i said so ?

because the recond (2nd hand) harrier with no turbo, japanese language infotainnment, and no warranty , selling at over 200k still got lots of people buy. this local car with 5 year warranty from umw and powerful turbo engine, only costs slightly more than recond unit.

mark my words, there will be a 1 year waiting list for this.
