March 2018 week 3 fuel prices – petrol, diesel down

It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another round of fuel price adjustments. Some cheer for motorists as the price of both petrol grades as well as diesel is lower than last week.

From tomorrow, March 15, RON 95 petrol will be priced at RM2.18 per litre (down three sen from RM2.21 per litre last week), while RON 97 will go for RM2.45 per litre (down two sen from RM2.47 per litre).

As for diesel, Euro 2M will retail for RM2.16 per litre (down one sen from RM2.17 last week). As such, Euro 5 diesel, which commands a 10 sen premium over regular diesel, will be priced at RM2.26 (previously, RM2.27 per litre). These prices will be in effect until March 21, when the next set of fuel price adjustments will be announced.

This week’s fuel price announcement is the 51st since the weekly system took effect at the end of March 2017. The current price of RON 95 petrol is 12 sen lower (from RM2.30 per litre) than at the start of the programme, while RON 97 is 15 sen less (from RM2.60). Diesel, meanwhile, is four sen lower than it was then (from RM2.20 per litre).

Why charge 10 sen extra for Euro 5 diesel? It should be priced same price as Euro 2 diesel to encourage more people to embrace it.

This is because 90% vehicles are still using Euro 2 diesel despite Euro 5 diesel being introduced some time now

Euro 2 diesel was banned in whole of Europe in 1994 because it was proven to be carcinogenic…..cancer causing

But Malaysia is still selling Euro 2 Diesel 24 years later to its rakyat

illusion of choice. why is gov punishing consumers for choosing a clean environment ?

if gov price euro5 diesel way higher than euro2, than of course most consumers will choose euro2. gov should reduce the price difference to encourage more people to switch to euro5.
