Rumours of a new Perodua SUV have been around for some time now, and a report by Kenanga Research may have confirmed that such a model exists. The unnamed SUV (codename D38L) is said to make its launch debut this year as part of efforts to ensure Perodua meets its sales target of 209,000 units for 2018.
The company had already stated it is seriously considering the introduction of a compact SUV in the past in light of current market trends, but has remain tight-lipped on the details. It has been suggested that the Daihatsu DN Trec Concept, a preview for a B-segment SUV, could be the model Perodua has in mind to re-enter the SUV market.
A budget rival to B-segment SUVs such as the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Toyota C-HR will certainly be something that might pique the interest of car buyers. In an earlier report, Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said the psychological price point for Perodua cars is RM60,000.
“We believe that at this point in time, that seems to be that psychological line. But having said that, cost is something beyond our control; materials and the rest. If it has to come to that, we have to make certain decisions. We have to make certain adjustments,” he said.
Previous Perodua SUV models include the Kembara as well as the Nautica, both of which are based on different generations of the Daihatsu Terios.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
LONG LIVE P2! ALL HAIL!
According to basher logic, 5seater Nautica2 will lose to 7Seater Boyue
prob is there is no such thing as 7 seater boyue
Everyone knows you won’t go wrong with sushi cars, Toyota, Honda or Perodua. It is further proven by sales figure.
This car will wipe out Boyue.
This car will wipe out Proton flat. At the end of the day, Perodua will use Japanese quality engine. The engine that is sold in over 200 countries worldwide.
Proton will be suing China engine. Only could be sold in China and 1 or 2 countries globally. Cannot be sold in first world countries like USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
So which engine would you choose? One sold in 200 countries globally or one only sold in China mainly??
Sushi engines are getting boring now, no power , not frugal too, even P1 is more frugal
You and your Boyue never ending story…
Its will take long way to change Malaysian mindset P1=Quality issue.
Malaysians leap of faith to embrace Perodua super amazing. No turning back
John oh johnny..just ask chunrong to ditch all P1 spare-parts producer, then we talk..
Problem is there’s no 7 seater boyue
New Perodua kambing soon:
All new SUV D14N (2018)
Axia facelift (2019)
Alza all-new MPV (2020)
Bezza all-new Sedan (2021)
this is UMW toyota.
2455 wheelbase 1690 height 3800 l
Pakai kaki axia wheelbase 2455. The next name of tonggek is kotak bergerak.
Hope it has 4WD option. Many durian farmers uses small 4X4, esp the Suzuki Jimny because of great maneuverability. HILUX and other pickups are great during fruits season time. There should be at least an option for such.
Tak payah pikir, tak payah pening. Beli je P2 kembara… masok dusun pon boleh.
Tak best , ruang enjin kecik, sikit2 kena jack up
(Like) Proton SUV.
(Dislike) Perodua SUV
You can like both since it will be in totally different car segments.
Correct. Saga>Bezza, Exora>Alza, Savvy>Myvee.
Like Proton cars? Don’t talk vege (aka empty talk) Be a man, do the right thing, buy the cars! Proton won’t survive by your empty talks but only by your orders. Can buy by this June? They need your money!
If below 60k , will definitely sell well but make sure there is a manual transmission and all wheel drive , packed with safety features like the Myvi.
Currently Myvi & Jazz differs around RM20K, if Perodua wanna rebadge 7-seater Terios maybe it’ll be RM20K cheaper also than Honda BRV so the price around RM60-65K.
The 5-seater SUV probably derived from Myvi with taller height as per above SUV concept and the price starts above Myvi but below 7-seater SUV price (RM55K-60K).
In that way, surely Proton Boyue gonna be another huge sales failure disaster unable to penetrate the budget SUV both in size segment & pricing. Bwa Ha Ha Ha Ha Wooo Hoooo!!!
All your thoughts are speculative. Please stop “Gelabahing”.
Can buy.
Once again Perodua edged out Proton in product planning & launching as per history repeating itself.
Myvi defeated Savvy
Alza defeated Exora
Axia defeated Iriz
Bezza defeated Saga & Persona
Kembara defeating Bayu soon.
Bezza defeated Saga & Persona << I disagree.
Rest is acceptable.
You are 100% incorrect. Iriz is better than new myvi, surely far far better than axia, especially in driving comfort.
Iriz is just nice when the new myvy yet come out, the new myvi features and system is much more advance, sales figure proves everything also, consumer nowadays is smart
Starting with the Boyue, it will be the end of the following Proton models in their current form: Savvy, Exora, Iriz, Saga & Persona. These models will be replaced by Geely products even if the model names remain.
Axia and Iriz aren’t the same segment, tho. More reasonable matchup is new Myvi vs 2017 Iriz. On the plus side, Iriz is a mini-volvo, whereas the new Myvi has the best specs for its price.
You are 100% incorrect. Iriz is better than new myvi, surely far far better than axia, especially in driving comfort.
Can buy boyue.
China car. Better buy Japanese Toyota engine car.
OMG No please
Toyota make dinosaur engines and their cars ride like SAMPAN
Also this coming PERODUA SUV will RIDE AND HANDLE like a SAMPAN too.
Not keen to buy this Perodua SUV at all but better wait for Boyue or other SUVS.
Proton proton… Your problem just got bigger
If this come out, habis lah Boyue. Who will buy China car when you can get Japanese Toyota technology???
Tayota dinosaur tech. Hahaha
This will be Malaysia’s top seller. Just like the Myvi. It will wipe the nearest competitor completely
Will Perodua working on below from 2018/2019?
1. Kembara/Nautica = New Compact SUV
2. Bezza = facelift?
3. Axia = All new?
4. Alza 2 = All New Compact MPV?
5. Myvi = already sell like hot cake…
New Perodua Naughtycar – RM60,000
New Proton Bayu – RM90,000
I understand that they’re both in a different segments but more importantly, who will sell more?
Outpace plotong & geli I dun mind. Hopefully it’ll keep them competitive.
Honestly I’d rather get an upgraded sedan myvi.
rebadge from daihatsu terios?
How many adults and kids can sit inside…thts the important question .
To those who are in waiting for budget and quality SUV,there are 2 SUV’s coming soon which is mid size 5 seater as in this picture price range 55k-60k and another one is a big size 7 seater SUV known as Daihatsu Terios 60k-70k..Ooops!
Perodua quality is trusted and I own one as well. All I can say, Toyota sales is moving down. In order for them to gained back profits. Toyota focus into Perodua since its their same blood brother. I believe SUV segment intro by Perodua and injected with latest technology from P.Myvi. It will be very welcome by most buyer. All we can do is wait and hope the design wise and spec is well equip. Good job Perodua!
The last 10 yrs, every new launching of Perodua has been a runaway success. The sales of the new myvi alone, can over take the entire sales volumn of Protong. Why?Thro sheer hardwork, innovation, good tie up with Daihatsu/Toyota….unlike Protong who is confined to a wheelchair, sickly n always asking for bailouts.
Good luck p2, good luck P1 for new suv
Most Malaysian like SUV but sad to say not ALL can afford one. The HRV is a success testament already. Launch it fast & price it at least RM20,000 cheaper than the HRV & U have a recipe GUARANTEE for Success.
Go for it P2. We waiting.
hohoho, great news! Perodua SUV coming this year, vs Proton SUV.. means while new Toyota Rush come on 2019..
Nautica2
Looks like another hot cake from P2… Go go P2.
Confirm laris keras. Perodua lah katakan
See… you don’t need to should it out. Unlike certain brand, taking the hassle to bring in a model to display at an outlet. Then hype it every now and then. At the end still cannot sell.
if its good, gonna test drive and order one…..
This is gonna be my 3rd p2 purchase in the family….
All P2 buyers are repeat buyers. Because they know, quality is very good and good RV
Byk2 nk buat ape? Lol
Can’t go wrong with a P2 now. The new SUV will be hotly anticipated.
Must sapot proton. That must be our aspire, my pipu. Nationalism. Must wait for bayou. Oh wai.
It will sell good
Hah, perodua pipped proton to the game again. Now to put its SUV out before proton does.
Better than Toyota
Good
Good exslenci
Now I can see why Toyota wants to kill Perodua. If this prices under RM100k with equal or above features from new Myvi, buh-bye C-HR. Not that it was gonna do much against heavyweight HR-V, what idiot in UMW thought the very late entry plus such a ridiculous price (it’s in the C-Segment SUV market) would make for a good sale?! Probably the Proton guys who priced their previous year Accord facelift near the current model’s price. Maybe they’re banking on novelty, maybe people are sick of the HR-V? But Malaysians have show time again, that it’s all PRICE, PRICE, PRICE. Everything else is secondary.
Was looking out for a suv to change out my second car and this fits the bill if it comes with the same safety tech seen in the new Myvi. Otherwise will have to look at the HRV or a T-roc when it arrives.
Many 20 year old kembara still in use today.
Many kembara drivers also got killed or injured last 20 years due to Kembara rollovers in freeways and highways ( due to high centre of gravity)
Safety issues were the problems for most Kembara so called CUV.
Will value my life and opt out on any new Perodua SUV
( not safe and lacking in confident).. Just not worth it.
Do you own one? If not don’t just make a stupid comment. I’m myself own the kembara.. I’m still alive… For now.. Kembara is a SUV not a sport car that you can drove it like a lunatic. The high centre gravity is due to use for off road that’s why it’s called SUV.
For safety reason yes i agree with you it’s not the safeties, but in that time almost all model from other brand also have the minimal safety for their car
For the new SUV i hope P2 will improve the spec and their safety.
Thank you. Peace
It is same as new terios has lunch in Indonesia? How many seater..if 7 seater will buy..looking other than BRV…i heard perodua on going install the assembly line production of new model car..still waiting good news….
I’m pretty sure it will be different from that daihatsu…
looks like another winner.. although there is something that i will never understand with regards to proton and perodua. When proton builds their own car.. they get crap for it.. when proton rebadges a proven car from another manufacturer, they also get crap for it and many even question why they didnt develop their own. But when perodua launches a car, none of which is developed by them and are all technically rebadged cars or have undergone skin changes.. there is absolutely no issue with that. By this logic, it seems that malaysian consumers have no problems at all with rebadging cars, unless its done by proton. but why is that?
Because Perodua never blame rakyat whenever sales is low and always listen to rakyat needs for affordable quality fuel efficient cars.
In return, rakyat will always support Perodua forever.
This kind of mutual trust can never be stopped by anyone, not even Geely ready to burn billions for Proton yearly.
Rakyat & Perodua, best friend forever!!!
Tiba-tiba keluar sebiji CHR priced at 60k.
Seluruh jalan raya akan melambak dengan benda ni.
Perodua, please just name it as Perodua NAUTICA. Just take that name from old Nautica. That name sounds more modern than KEMBARA. My neighbor oso have one Nautica (2009 model year). Good luck Perodua, I always support Perodua.
Memang Kita amat syukur kalau SUV perodua kembara dapat dipasarkan secara CKD di Malaysia, harga sekitar 55k-65k memang tepat pada kemampuan majoriti rakyat
Ha..ha…Japanese copy China. This SUV looks very much like the Haval M4 from Greatwall.
This is one good car!
I had used this car for ten years already and its still like brand new!
P2 owned by Toyota. Money can build anything. They can afford to lose some to keep that Top Position
perodua is majority own by UMW (government). toyota only hold minority stake
Interest
Perduva sub (D38L) when lance in Malaysian i booking suv how much price?
Doesn’t it look like a GreatWall M4 white on the exterior? At least the major design wise. It just looks like a facelift of M4 with more up to trend designs XD
